I love a good crime book and Sandra Brown has been one of my favourites since Crush, which will always be in my top five of great crime books. this book didn't quite hit that mark but i enjoyed reading it and it still had that quality that makes Sandra Brown one of the best crime writers ever.

Sandra Brown is a well known author and I have heard her name a 100 times as she writes mostly suspense novels. I never got to pick up a book by her though. I was happy to get a chance to review this title.
I enjoyed the pace of the story. The book opens with a lot of action pulling the reader in. It is fun to puzzle along with the story and even though I did manage to resolve some of the mysteries there were some surprises left at the end.
The characters are easy to connect too. A bit standard for books like this. A though guy with his heart at the right place and a feisty lady who does not give up her fight to solve everything. The attraction between the two characters was not much of a surprise but it was an enjoyable entertaining read.

I didn't guess the ending, so consider it great. Great characters, great plot, great location, great twist. Great, great, great.

This is the first Sandra Brown book that I have read (as far as I am aware) despite her having many books below her belt.

The main protagonists are John Trapper a private detective and Kerra Bailey a television journalist. 25 years ago John’s father (Major Frank Trapper) became a hero when he was photographed carrying a child out of the Pegasus Hotel in Dallas after it had been bombed and thus saving her life. Frank has now become a recluse and refuses to submit to any more interviews and Kerra approaches John Trapper in an attempt to persuade his father to let her interview him. This sets in motion events that will result in Frank being shot and John and Kerra attempting to discover what happened 25 years ago.

Brown has provided a plotline with many twists and turns with good characterisation and enough tension and suspense to keep you enthralled and with a really good ending.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.

An enjoyable story that got more complicated as it went on. Surprising twists right to the end.
