This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Eli Cross has secrets and a cocky demeanor to hide them with. Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is at Cross Creek for a story, as a favor to her best friend. The sassy photographer needs the goods to pump up her friend's online magazine, and the 'slacker' brother needs the exposure to help recover from a blunder he made that puts all of Cross Creek at risk for a fall. The last thing he wants to do is babysit a city girl and play nice for the camera, but it seems he has no other choice but to entertain and inform Scarlett about the farm and family for her month-long stay.
As always, Kimberly Kincaid has delivered a fantastic story that grabs ahold of your heartstrings and just won't let go. Sparks fly from the very first interaction between Eli and Scarlett and it only gets better from there! A wonderful addition to the Cross Creek series with the youngest Cross's story, but Eli's story is a great place to start the series if you'd rather meet him before Hunter. I fully recommend, for long-time readers, and newbies alike (even if you're just new to Cross Creek)! You'll love seeing Eli's heart, discovering more about him, and rooting for him against stakes that could cost him everything from his pride to the family farm.
4.5 stars
Crossing the Line by Kimberly Kincaid was a beautifully written and heartwarming read.
I really enjoyed the storyline, the plot held my interest all throughout the book and found myself reading it in one sitting.
Eli and Scarlett were likable and relatable characters, I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold, they warmed my heart and I loved how well they suited each other. These two totally belonged together.
Crossing the Line is the second book from the Cross Creek series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.

Sweetly sexy, action packed and emotionally thrilling small town romance with some real laugh out loud moments. Loved revisiting Cross Creek will all the wonderful charters that live there.
Eli Cross is seen as takes nothing serious and a lazy farmer. However he is really sweet, charming and all so sexy intelligent. Farming may be in his blood, but it is not his real passion. Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is sexy, sassy and an ambitious New York City photographer looking to get the scoop for a feature on Cross Creek for her friends magazine. These two are explosive and a real treat to read about. Highly entertaining relaxing sunny day read. Looking forward to my next visit to Cross Creek.
What I love most about the Cross Creek series is coming back to visit with old friends, making new ones and enjoying a HEA with a twist. Kimberly Kincade knocked it out of the park with this one! This is the story of Eli and Scarlett.
Eli Cross is the youngest of the Cross brothers. But he has always felt like the odd man out, the extra, the one that does not have a defined roll on the farm, oh yeah, and his passion.....writing! Top that off with that fact that he is hiding this fact from his family and you can see where tension comes when when his oldest brother Owen thinks he is a slacker, and his big mouth gets him into a bet that might sink the farm, that is until Scarlett Edwards-Stewart shows up, camera in hand, and oh yeah, Eli is in charge of the beauty for a month.
Scarlett Edwards-Stewart has never set down root, she belongs everywhere. She is a world famous photographer. But when her best friend is about too lose her online magazine unless she does something to boost ratings, Scarlett is the first one to jump in and offer to help by going to the Cross farm and getting all of the farm to table pictures and stories that her friend could ever need. What she did not count on was being welcomed into the Cross family and being drawn to the sexy cowboy who is in charge of babysitting her for the next month.
But was Scarlett and Eli spend more and more time together, they fall hard. As Eli opens up about his dreams, is fears, and the secrets that he is keeping from his family, Scarlett is there to encourage Eli and let him know that he is not a screw-up. That just because his passion is different than that of his father and brothers, it does not mean that he is not part of the family, that his dreams don't mean anything. When the opportunity of a lifetime is dropped into Eli's lap, he needs to make a decision whether to follow his dreams, or let his old fears stop him from reaching for the stars and staying with the woman who has captured his heart.
An amazing edition to the Cross Creek Series, and let me tell you, the bomb shell that is dropped in this book is enough to turn the entire Cross family on its ear. Nope, not gonna spoil it! But I would highly recommend this amazing series to anyone that loves hot cowboys, feisty women and super amazing HEA's
Crossing the Line ( Cross Creek series book two) by Kimberly Kincaid is emotional, funny, sweet, heartwarming and steamy. This is Eli Cross and Scarlett Edwards-Stewart story, but don't worry Owen, Hunter and Tobias Cross are in this book. Eli works the family farm, Cross Creek. But, his heart is not in it. At heart Eli is a writer and loves Shakespear. Scarlett is a photographer who home base is New York city but travels the world taking pictures. When country boy meet city girl sparks fly! Scarlett comes to Cross Creek to shoot a series of video to help boost readership on her best friend on line magazine Food--E. Scarlett is so not a country girl. It was laugh out loud funny when she went into the chicken house for the first time. When Eli and Scarlett come together it is so hot, I swore I was having a hot flash! Wow! Ms. Kincaid writes a story that keeps you turning the pages and invites you to invest your heart in these characters and their story. I knew there would be a HEA, BUT what I did not see coming was that. TWIST at the end of the book! I literally read the last four chapters saying OMG, OMG,OMG, she didn't! Oh yes she Did! You can guess, you can speculate, but you are not going to guess! I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I received a ARC from Netgalley.
Crossing the Line, written by Kimberly Kincaid, is the second book in the Cross Creek series. This book can easily be read as a standalone, however, I highly recommend reading the previous book in this series, Crossing Hearts. The readers are first introduced to the Cross brothers in Crossing Hearts. Whereas Crossing Hearts was Hunter's story, this one is about the youngest Cross brother, Eli.
Eli, Owen, and Hunter work with their father (Tobias) running their family farm located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Eli has dreams that he keeps hidden from his family, and working on the family farm was never in his plans. He has a reputation of being the bad boy of the family...and always seems to be screwing up in one way or another. His latest screw up has the Cross Farm looking for some positive publicity, and Eli is tasked with working with Scarlett Edwards-Stewart to provide some.
Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is a well known photographer from New York City, that has seen and photographed it all. Her new assignment is working for her best friend, Mallory. Mallory owns an online magazine called FoodE, and the piece she's doing on Cross Farms is just what she needs to try and save her failing business. Cross Farms needs the positive publicity just as much as Mallory does. Scarlett is determined to help Mallory save her business, but she has no idea just how difficult the job will be until she meets Eli Cross.
I absolutely loved this story! The chemistry between Eli and Scarlett is obvious, despite the rough start when they first meet. I actually felt sorry for Eli, especially since his true passions are kept secret from his family. Loyalty is an important theme...Eli to his family and Scarlett to Mallory. When things seem to be going nowhere, both Eli and Scarlett refuse to give up because they don't want to let down anyone. As the story unfolds, more is revealed about the characters, giving insight into who they truly are. The author has a writing style that comes from the heart, making this a truly enjoyable read. This is a story filled with not only emotion, but quite a bit of humor as well. It flows at a great pace, and will have you captivated from beginning to end. Overall, I felt this was a great addition to the Cross Creek series, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I would like to thank Montlale Romance and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book. My views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
I knew the minute I finished the first book in this series that I was going to absolutely love the entire series. I love Cross Creek and Owen, Hunter, and Eli, brothers on the family farm along with their father, Tobias. These books are definitely stand alone books and this book was about Eli, the youngest brother, and Scarlett, a world wide photographer who constantly travels from me place to the next. She gets a call to photograph the Cross Creek farm for a foodie magazine. A heartfelt story this is. I felt very emotion from both Eli and Scarlett. Their HEA was wonderful, but almost as important to me is the relationship of the entire Cross family. Ms. Kincaid throws a twist at the end of this story and I canNot wait for the next edition of the Cross Creek series. Ms. Kincaid, you knocked it out of the park with this one! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.
Whether it's farmers or firemen, Kimberly Kincaid books are always fantastic and this story is one of my favorites!! Eli and Scarlett are hot! They have sizzling chemistry (with one of the best first kiss scenes I've ever read), funny banter, and a strong emotional connection. I also loved the relationship between the three Cross brothers and their dad. I can't wait to read Owen's story next!!
Really enjoyable story. I liked the characters and the plot. I loved how confident Scarlett was and Eli made me laugh (and his uncertainty about revealing his true passion to his family and showing how deeply he cared about them made me sigh!). This is the second in the series but can easily be read as a stand-alone. Highly recommended.

Who knew farmers could be so sexy. meets the Cross brothers. This is Eli's story. Eli has placed a friendly bet on the farm leads to negative PR for the farm, so he now plays host to a photographer. Scarlett , the photographer is doing a favor by covering this story. Once she arrives to Cross Creek, she and Eli share a great chemistry. She gets Eli to open up to her, where his true love lies.
An emotional, heart wrenching sexy read that will keep you turning the pages. This is Kimberly Kincaid's best story yet, Eli and Scarlett have won my heart. I highly recommend this story!
Eli Cross is the youngest of the Cross brothers and is not the born and breed farmer his brothers are but he still has not ever been out of Virginia and is living and working the farm. Does he have other dreams? He does like to play harder than work the land and he really does more than anyone gives him credit for, especially his brother, Owen. When Eli lets his temper get the best of him, he makes a bet that could be financial ruin for the farm but now he is saddled with a photographer to help them out of this mess. Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is a photographer who is doing a favor for her friend and doing a pictorial of Cross Farms. Close quarters brings out the chemistry and banter between Eli and Scarlett and when these two finally start working together they can conquer everything.
I highly recommend this book, actually the first one too! Small town fun, great characters, wonderful family, romance at its best!

Eli and Scarlett are an unlikely couple, and yet I loved them together. From Scarlett's love of the farm chickens and then naming them all, to Eli's quick wit and appearance of being a laid back, screw-up, youngest son, this book entertains from start to finish.
Reading the backstory of Scarlett, as an orphan raised by two men, yet still carrying around the baggage of abandonment issues and then Eli who basically presents as harsh, arrogant and uncaring, when he is basically suffering from abandonment issues as well this is a touching and yet funny story.
Eli's bad temper and distaste for the family farm and it's grunt work chores eventually lands him in a bet that he may not be able to win. Yet, when Scarlett is sent to the farm to save her best friends online magazine and Eli is her 'tour guide' / babysitter they spark heat and comedy. Scarlett enlists Eli in her videoblogs and learns he is a natural.
Once Eli shares his secret with Scarlett, we get a better picture of the character of the youngest Cross sibling, until we get hit with a major twist.
Scarlett and Eli get their HEA, but the twist is totally unexpected and I can't wait to read the next installment in the Cross Creek Series. I hope Daisy gets a love interest, even though she is not a part of the Cross family. I loved her from the first book when she interacted with Emerson and would have loved to see her with the oldest Cross son, Owen.
This book is a great weekend read or can be read over a few evenings, and still give you laughs and the HEA we all want; along with lots of chemistry and heat between the lead characters.
'Crossing the Line' by Kimberly Kincaid is book Two in the "Cross Creek" series. This is the story of Scarlett Edwards-Stewart and Eli Cross. I have not yet the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Eli is the youngest of the brothers in the Cross Family. Eli seems to get a bad deal at every turn when working with his family. Yes, Eli doesn't make sound choices but when he makes these choices he has his heart in them. Like when he chooses to secretly help his dad with some of his work and then gets in trouble because now one knows he did it and they think he just be slacking somewhere. Eli even goes so far as to make a heated bet with a long standing rial to him when that person talks bad about the Family Farm. But there is more to Eli than he lets on...which Scarlett starts to see.
Scarlett has an unusual childhood being in the foster care than taking in by two daddies. Scarlett is now making a name for herself as a photographer and been working really hard. When her best friend confides in her that she needs help Scarlett quickly takes up the roll to help her by taking on the story of the Cross Family. Scarlett will work on taking pictures and getting some in site on the family for her friends magazine.
When Eli is put in charge of her and helping her get what she needs for the story, he is at first upset. But they start to get to know each other and find that there first impressions of each other are not who they really are.
Sweet Romance Story!

Eli gets a bum wrap. While it's true he doesn't always make the best choices, his heart is in the right place. His biggest problem is he leads with his heart. That ends up being a gift and a curse. His questionable choices bring out the worst in his brother, negativity to the family business and even more trouble headed his way. Photographer Scarlett sets out to help a friend and ends up making waves with a bad boy. Crossing the Line highlights the best of Ms. Kincaid. Her heart, humor and saucy talent. Her romances are sweetly packaged and emotionally fulfilling.
A sexy-sweet connection grabs our attention quickly in the 2nd book in The Cross Creek Series. We met this family in the previous book when Hunter and Emerson reunited and got their happy ending, and now it's Eli's turn! He has the reputation of being all play and little work ... but we come to find out that isn't exactly what he's about at all. He and Scarlett were a fun read. I didn't connect with them quite as much as I did with Hunter and Emerson in Book 1, but they were solid characters and an enjoyable story! Looking forward to more of this family!
Eli Cross has really stuck his foot in his mouth this time! He's known for his good times and crazy behavior, so no one should really be surprised that he's now in the middle of a bet that has caught the whole town's attention.
Photographer Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is on Cross Creek for one reason ... to help save her friend's online magazine by featuring the farm in as eye-catching and human interest way as she possibly can. Only problem is, she's handed over to Eli to be her contact while shooting and filming, and he's about as forth-coming as an old shoe when she tries to get him to showcase the farm. When she gets him to spill secrets, will it end up being the best thing she ever did for him, or just lead to overall heartache?
This is the second book in this series by this author. I just couldn't put this book down, it sucked me in from the first page. You are always guaranteed a fantastic story with this author. The characters are fantastic with very hot chemistry between them. This book has it all passion, hot and steamy scenes and amazing characters. I can't wait to read more in the future.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
Crossing The Line is the second book in the Cross Creek series but can be read as a stand alone book. This book center's around Eli who has been labeled as the brother who doesn't work as hard on the farm and a bit of a goof-off. He's also known as cocky and charming. The reader finds out quickly that while Eli loves his family and the farm he doesn't love farming and doesn't feel like he fits at the farm. His true passion is writing but he has been keeping this a secret from his family. When he makes an ill-conceived bet with a rival about which farm can make more money his family decides that he can help by being the point of contact for Scarlett, a famous photographer who is gong to be at the farm for a month doing a series of articles for her friend's magazine.
Although, I enjoyed the characters and the writing I had two big problems with this book. I just never really understood why Eli felt the need to keep his love for writing a secret from his family. The explanation given just never rang true to me and it bothered me throughout the book. I also found it strange that such a close knit family never bothered to look a little below the surface of Eli's constant deflection and easy going attitude.
The second issue I had was with the portrayal of Scarlett when she is first introduced. She is an internationally famous photographer who has traveled all over the world and photographed different things including war zones. Yet she shows up on a farm in heels and thinks flip-flops are fine for walking across the farm all day. Then she seems surprised when Eli tells her she needs to cover her skin so she won't be burnt and the first day she wears a shirt that shows her lower back. She also complains about being at the farm by 5:30 am because it's so early to have to be up. I just didn't think that rang true with someone who did what she did for a living and it really threw me a bit and therefore it took me longer to accept her as a professional.
I expected Eli, to deflect and charm Scarlett to stay away from his secrets but he actually came across as aloof and distanced which also threw me off a bit. I admit I didn't necessarily see these characters together but as the story went on I could see how there backgrounds and feelings of not having or fitting into a home brought them together. As they let each other in to their secrets and found some common ground I enjoyed the bond they created together.
I could of actually done without the end of the book drama as it seemed to be a bit of a cliched let's throw some conflict in to cause problems for the MCs. Eli's behavior was again a bit strange and I didn't believe his reasons. It also led to a rushed reunion and left me with the feeling of a HFN rather than an HEA.
So while I enjoyed the first book more I did enjoy this book as well and I love the way the writer describes farm life and the relationship between the brothers and their father. I've been drawn to Owen's character since the first book so I'm really looking forward to reading his book.
Eli never felt like he belong on the farm like his brothers and it took Scarlett, a freelance photographer to see thru his cocky, laid back attitude and uncover the real Eli. The chemistry that Eli and Scarlett have together is great and they work well together on the farm. Eli show Scarlett what it's like to be part of a family and Scarlett encourages Eli to pursue his real passion. Crossing the Line is such a fun and enjoyable read. I didn't want to put it down once I started it. You can't help fall in love with the hot Cross men.
