Irene Hannon does it again! She writes such engaging characters and plots that drew me into the novel from the first page and made it impossible for me to put my eReader down. I love all Irene Hannon's novels and I can't wait for next book in this series! A special thanks to netgalley and Revell for this arc!

2.5 stars. This one really fell short for me, as I was in the mood for Hannon's trademark edge-of-your-seat suspense. Instead, it's very heavy on the romance part, almost to the point of being the main focus of the book: attraction plus some suspense and danger to bring them together. It felt confusing with how quickly it jumped from "Wow, you are attractive" to "bad guy POV" and back. And several times I felt that I was being specifically led to thinking certain things about characters, rather than getting the chance to form my own opinions about some of the characters' actions, if that makes sense. I also felt that some of the details of the bad guy's life went almost too far into details about his bar habits and womanizing habits, skating the edge very closely. (It does show about him climbing into bed with a one-night stand, and talks of how he wants to "go another round" with her.)

All in all, an interesting romantic read with some suspense. A specific final twist fell rather flat for me, and it was necessary to backtrack quite a bit during reading to make sense of certain actions and motivations. If I hadn't had it for review, I would quite likely not have finished even in the two weeks (!) it took me to read it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free review copy.

I really enjoy Irene Hannon’s contemporary suspense and this novel once again includes fast paced action, intertwining mysteries, and devious villains. The characters are complex and have great development and the romance is tastefully intertwined among the action. I thought perhaps some of the later plot points worked out in an unrealistic manner, but this does not detract from the overall creative nature of the story. I also liked how I got to read from the villain’s perspective every now and again as it provides a chilling look into the killer’s mind. I recommend this novel to all lovers of contemporary suspense and cannot wait to read more in this new series!

Irene Hannon combines deadly serious storylines with relationship themes, combining to make very
readable books. As with her earlier writing -it works! ( I read it in one sitting...)
Some unexpected twists & turns to the plot means it never loses momentum, retaining interest
throughout. I am pleased to find this is the beginning of another series, the follow-ups will certainly
be ones to look out for.
I also appreciated the sample from another volume of the Hope Harbor series, it will be good to check up on familiar characters there.

Irene Hannon is back with a new series that will have readers questioning each character and their intentions until the very end, making for an exciting and downright good read.
Trish Bailey has had a rough few years. Her job is demanding, she is taking care of her ailing mother, and now she is having trouble remembering things. When her mother dies of a mistake in her medication, Trish finds herself under police scrutiny. She starts to question if she made a mistake or really is having memory issues. Detective Colin Flynn is called to investigate and the more he looks into things the more they don’t add up. The more he searches for answers the more evil he sees around this case that is touching him more than he thought possible. As Colin continues to discover what really happened to Trish and her mother, Trish finds herself in a precarious position as her feelings for Colin grow, along with the danger to her own life.
Dangerous Illusions is the start of a new series for Irene Hannon and I can’t wait to see where she goes with these characters. I loved the way she weaved the mystery of the memory issues with Trish and how it made her question everything. The suspense played out well throughout until the very end where the romance aspect took over. Everything with the characters flowed naturally, even the relationships. Even though Trish is dealing with the memory issues, she never comes across as a weak character. She is willing to do whatever she has to in order to find the truth and set things right. I don’t want to spoil anything but there was a nice little twist with one of the characters that worked really well with the story. I thought I had it figured out at one point but was pleased with the way it played out.
I have enjoyed Hannon’s writing for a while now and am pleased to say that this book continues my enjoyment with her writing. This was a very enjoyable read that makes me eager for the next in the series. All fans of Irene Hannon will want to check out Dangerous Illusions, I highly recommend it.

“Dangerous Illusions” is brilliant! When a young widow’s mother dies under her care, she immediately becomes a suspect when it is determined that it was an overdose. Troubling as that is, even more so are the apparent memory lapses Trish Bailey is suffering. Detective Colin Flynn is not comfortable with what he knows about the case and as time goes by the situation becomes even more dangerous. And could Colin be close to breaking the important rule of not becoming too involved with a suspect?

In “Dangerous Illusions” very little is as it seems to be. The plot is particularly challenging with several major surprises along the way. This was one book I definitely did not want to put down for even one minute. I heartily recommend all of Irene Hannon’s books but “Dangerous Illusions” may just be the best one yet.

This was a fantastic book for the first in a new series. I did not want to put this book down. It was very interesting and had many twists and turns. Trisha and Colin were great characters. They learn many things about each other during this investigation. I loved this story. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Dangerous Illusions is the first installment from Irene Hannon’s newest series, Code of Honor. This has got to be Ms. Hannon’s best to date. The plot is riveting and full of mystery, suspense, adventure and action. I never knew what was in store next for Trish and Colin. I had to keep turning the pages to find out. I just could not put the book down. I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book of the series.
Fabulous read. I highly recommend it and give it 5 stars.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Okay, so I was a bit turned around while reading this one. The Matt-and-Michael part is a little confusing initially, but I think that's the point: to keep you guessing until Hannon is ready for you to know for sure. I loved the inclusion of the Phoenix, Inc., team and the guest star, Mac MacGregor, from 2 other St. Louis-based Hannon series. Really enjoyed both those series and was thrilled to see them again here.

This ended up being a great Hannon suspense, and I'm so depressed that I have to wait until next fall for Kristin's story! The Treehouse Gang doesn't ride again till October 2018... ;)

I’m a huge fan of Irene Hannon’s books and this newest installment of romantic suspense definitely goes above and beyond the already high standard of quality writing the author is known for. It’s a fast-paced, action-packed, adrenaline-pumped, and mystery-infused edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting ride that you won’t be able to put down!

Ms Hannon’s writing flows smoothly and naturally. The villain is introduced right away (as she’s known to do in her books) but there is so much more to the villain’s story than meets the eye. And that backstory slowly winds around the main plot until you’re left gasping at the conclusion of the suspense and mystery. The author’s villains have more depth and layers than just flat, evil faces with names, which makes the story much more intriguing.

Colin is a great hero. He’s a St. Louis detective - dedicated, hard-working, thorough, highly competent and intelligent, loyal, and compassionate though he came from a broken home and background.
Trish is a loving, compassionate, and dedicated art teacher who has been pummeled by tragedy after tragedy for the past two years and now must find out how to manage the charitable foundation her parents left behind.
Enter Trish’s parents’ accountant Matt and things start to take twists and turns to shape Colin and Trish’s world into a strange likeness of the Twilight Zone.
Colin and Trish are both likable characters, though I connected more with Colin than with Trish. Trish seemed a bit two-dimensional and their romance was less developed than I would have liked. However, the plot was so detailed and engaging that I’m happy to overlook these minor anomalies in this book.

It was also nice to see some familiar faces in this book from Ms. Hannon’s previous novels. I did a double-take a couple of times to make sure I remembered these past characters correctly (since this book is the first in a new series and not a sequel) and was immensely pleased that I did. Did Ms. Hannon always bring some noteworthy characters from previous, unrelated series into her new books and I didn’t notice until now? How fun!
I can’t wait for the second book in the series to release next year!

”Hello Matt. Long time no see.” As the words slithered through the clammy night air, a jagged shaft of lightning illuminated the speaker’s face for one brief instant.

I’ve long been a Hannon fan, and just when I thought her last suspense series was the best, she knocked it out of the park with this first book in the Code of Honor series! Ominous from the first sentence and not letting up the further I read. She never fails to pull me into the story from the start and this is no exception! Get ready for the ride of your life because just when I thought I had untied one knot, several more were right behind it. Many twisted turns and layers unfolded before my eyes! Her characters are always top notch and plots so thick you’d need a knife to cut it with. The subtle romance brewing between Trish Bailey and Colin Flynn had me anticipating each encounter they had, waiting until the time they were free to explore their feelings. She’s smart as a whip and isn’t easily fooled when red lights start to go off in her head. Colin’s detective skills are honed when things don’t add up in the ongoing investigation & he ends up with more questions than answers. A game of cat and mouse ensues, keeping me enthralled & invested in the story. I am thoroughly hooked by a new series from one of my top favorite suspense authors! For fans of inspirational romantic suspense written by one of the best authors out there, this one’s not to be missed!

Trish Bailey has her hands full working a demanding job and caring for her mother, who was chronically injured in a car accident that took both their husbands. Trish teaches art at a school for the underprivileged, and her mother runs a charitable foundation, with the help of their accountant Matt Parker. Trish is shocked when her mother dies suddenly.

Detective Colin Flynn tries to be sensitive to Trish's feelings, but he believes the death to be of natural causes. When the tox screening comes back positive, he knows that he must dig deeper to find answers.

I like that Trish tries not to dwell on the new information, but when she is attacked in the parking lot of the school, she can't ignore the fact that she is in danger. Colin rushes to her aid, and suggests that they take a deeper look at everything, and that Matt's strange behavior is worth a second glance.

I like that Trish holds to her faith, and is open about her faith with Colin. I like that she has someone that she can trust and depend on in Colin, and that they find that they enjoy spending time together. I really liked how they got to know each other.

I think that they title is very fitting for this book, and it definitely makes more sense as the story progresses. I really admired Trish and her determination in the midst of a tough situation. She doesn't care much for money, but wants to help others. This was a thrilling read from beginning to end, with many twists and turns along the way. Fantastic, and hard to put down.

Dangerous Illusions by Irene Hannon which is the first book in the Code of Honor series hooks you from the first page. It is a stunning psychological suspense.
Trish has had an overwhelming couple years and may be hitting her limit. I really liked her character. Colin is a heart throb hero. He is a detective investigating a case surrounding Trish. He treats her so well and has great relationships with both his friends and colleagues. The author created some great scenes between her and Colin. The scenes where Colin’s friends and coworkers were teasing him added the perfect balance of mystery, humor and romance.
Matt and Craig were quite the interesting characters. I was trying to figure out how the accident played into the story the whole time. I also had quite a theory building in my head about Craig that had me paying attention to every detail.
If you are looking for an awesome writer. I highly recommend Irene Hannon. Irene is one of those authors that can keep me glued to a book when I should be sleeping or cooking dinner no matter the genre. She truly has a talent.
I loved this book. It will keep you guessing until the very end.
Sexual content - great chemistry between Trish and Colin, but clean
Violence - murder, attempted murder,

Dangerous solutions is a rip roaring, train running awayin', gold digging, masterminding , heart pounding and faith believing story. Wow that is a lot to say – writing. This is about a lying, thieving, sneaky, snake in the grass Craig . Who turned a nice guy, Matt into a lying, thieving, snake in the grass for him, against poor unknowing Trish and her mother . How did they do that? What did they do? Craig will do anything and I do mean anything to anyone who gets in the way of his scheme. Will someone die? Will someone be blamed? Will the detective be able to figure out what is topside right?

I very-much enjoyed this fast-paced read by Irene Hannon. The romance was predictable (as it should be since it's categorized as a romance), but the story line was unique and kept me guessing for most of the book. Highly recommended.

As usual Irene Hannon delivers a very well written suspense. I was pulled immediately into the plot and could not put this book aside. The plot has many twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy good suspense.

Irene Hanson knows how to tell a story And how to get her readers reading as if they are right in the middle of everything. Can’t wait to read book 2.

Being a fan of Irene’s work, the arrival of a new series is exciting! This one is entitled Code of Honor, and the lead male in Dangerous Illusions definitely lives up to the title. The book kicks off with the emotional death of our leading lady’s mother and, at first glance, it seems a sad but ordinary occurrence. It’s no spoiler to know that it isn’t and the real twist is FAR more eerie, disconcerting and out of the blue! The characters are tangible, my heart went with Trish each step of the way, Colin is easy to connect with and the villains have depths and backstories that make them believable. Much more on the actual story will spoil the mystery and the tension that runs throughout. Sufficed to say, I loved it, I can’t wait for the next one and I read the whole thing in one sitting, so beware, it’s addictive! It’s a 5 out of 5 on the enjoyment scale!
