Love this book, another great read, hope this won't be the last one

Fabulous author, I've read all her books and was thrilled to read the latest installment of this series. Highly recommended.

Another winner from Nicki French which kept us guessing till the end. Her portrayal of characters is flawless. Having not read the prequel to this was perhaps a bit of a disadvantage.

Frieda Klein is a character I've warmed to, though this is only the second book of hers that I've read. Her intuition and interaction with other characters in the book makes her, for me, a very likeable, trustworthy person. When all about her believe her main adversary is dead she alone believes otherwise. When a body is found under her floorboards and everything and everyone around her is threatened it would seem to point to him being the person responsible. But is he?
There are twists and turns aplenty in this book and it's well worth reading (and enjoying).

Another cracking paced thriller from the Frieda Klein series. This time it starts far to close to home with the body of the person helping protect her found under her floor boards. People close to her are being targeted, the killer clearly wants to get to her. This is an easy to read novel, well written and plotted. We learn before the end who the culprit is but have already been led to that conclusion by the writers.
I enjoyed reading this and hope that it is not the last in this series.

Nicci French is such a great writer, excellent plot and great characters

Despite being number 7 in the Frieda Klein series, I don't feel like I was missing out on anything. It was a fantastic shocking read, and I'll be sure to read the rest!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, great plot, fabulous characters. Never having read any of the Frieda Klein series I came in cold as it were, but that didn't seem to matter at all. I soon picked up on the characters and got completely the past ' relationship ' between her and Dean, so for me it works very well as a stand alone read, although I may now read the whole series. I found it to be a gripping storyline, with twists and turns to keep the interest and intrigue at an optimum, and an unexpected but brilliant ending.

More than just the latest in this series of thrillers, I felt the book explored what family means when we create our communities from the people we care about.

This is the first Freida Klein title I have read although not the first book by Nicci French.
The storyline is based around the main character, which is Freida who has a body found under her floorboards, the story spreads over many threads. Freida I find at times an unlikeable character and for a vast majority of the time quite unsympathetic. All the other characters that were featured were fairly well described but did at times feel that I could have done with a bit more background on them but I suppose that is my fault by starting off on book number 7 and not the start of the series!!
At the start it was quite slow but again maybe that was because I hadn't read the whole series, having said that the book can definitely be read on its own. As the story went on and the plot thickened this was a fast paced read.
I would like to thank netgalley and Penguin UK and Michael Joseph for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This, the seventh in the Freida Klein series, is building towards the next and final book, the inevitable showdown between Freida and her nemesis (is he dead, or isn't he) Dean Reeve.
The action starts when the body of one of Freida's close associates is discovered under the floor boards at Freida's home, setting the tone early on that in this cat and mouse chase nothing is off limits, and no one is safe. Someone is targeting Freida's nearest and dearest, is it Reeve, or is this some new threat?
The husband and wife team that make up Nicci French are true to form in this latest offering, this is a fast paced, tension building, great read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to Netgalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book, read it in one day. I have read the whole series of Frieda Klein books and this was the best yet. The story flowed but maintained a fast pace. I love the characters in these books, they are a diverse bunch of people that just seem to gel. I am hoping this isn't the final book, perhaps Nicci French could start on the months of the year?!

Once again Frieda Klein is caught up in the eyes of an unwavering psychopath. After the discovery of a body buried beneath her floor, Friedas closest friends begin to be targeted, at first it seems it may be the ever elusive Dean Reeve but eventually it becomes clear that there is someone else who wants Friedas attention. I honestly love this series of books the characters are so well written. I really hope this isnt the last in this series

Having only read Blue Monday before and skipped along to Sunday Morning Coming Down I was impressed at the development of the plot and story line from book one. This series has followed Frieda Klein, and whilst it was obvious that I had missed a lot (a lot can clearly happen in 6 books), I felt that Nicci French made it easy for me to pick up and follow along.
Despite the fact that I really enjoyed the book, I found it a little stark in terms of twists and anticipation. It was a well written book and engaging, and it's clear that it's setting it all up for what I assume will be the final book (although there are no days left in the week so what now?). I liked the characters that were there and had developed.
Perhaps I'd feel more engaged with the story if I had read the other 6 books, but I really feel that even for me, all I care about by this stage is Dean Reeve, and I kept expecting more from that without it appearing.

I have been a great fan of Nicci French since the first novel. The style, pace, character depiction and plot never fail. Each book is a page turner. The main character is always challenging. Frieda Klein is smart, intelligent and a thinker. Highly professional yet always at odds with those professionals around her.
This book was a great demonstration of the power of a great thriller to just motivate the reader to become engaged in the challenge of the twists and turns of the plot. Two murderers. One copycat and one a continuing enigma.
Can't wait to see the next steps towards Dean Reeve.

The first Freda Klein title I have read, and it certainly wont be my last. I found it a little slow to get going, but that is probably due to the fact I'd not read the other titles and it took me a while to identify with the characters, but once I did, I was hooked! A scary, sociopathic murderer / torturer on the loose, with their heart set on torturing / terrifying Freda. Is it the killer she thinks is still on the loose, that everyone else thinks is dead, or is it a copy cat, someone out the get her for another reason? Read the book and see, you wont regret it!.

Dr Frieda Klein - a psychotherapist that has helped (or hindered) police investigations and crossed paths with a serial killer who developed a strong attachment and following....... but then a copycat decided to target her friends to give a message to Frieda and Dean Reeve. Where and who will he target next and what message is he trying to send? With her track record of being a "difficult woman" - convincing the police that a copycat was at work was not easy until one of their own goes missing. Will they find her in time? A gripping story that gathers pace as the story unfolds. A great read and would highly recommend it

What's not to like about a book of Nicci French?
This one is off course also, again, a great one. Full of suspense, and hard to lay down.

This book is different to many crime novels because it has a large cast of varied characters, who we get to know well. The main character, Freida, is not always likeable, making her more realistic. Although the main strand of the plot is a body being found under Freida's floorboards, and a revenge plot against her, the story has many threads, and the whole group of people and their stories are interesting. I was worried that I would lose out as this is the seventh book in the series and I haven't read the previous six; but it reads well as a stand alone, though I think readers who have read them all will get even more from it than I did, hence only four not five stars. Overall, a very enjoyable thriller. I will look out for the next one.

This is the first novel I have read by Nikki French. Although I quite enjoyed this book I did feel I was missing out by not having read the others in the series. I did feel that there were too many characters in the novel and at times it did feel rather weak. However it ended on a high which left me page turning.
With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC.
