Another well written offering from Ms Perry. Her exquisite attention to detail and full rounded characterisation is superb. This should be another resounding success!
This book is about a group of schoolfriends who reunite after not seeing each other for a number of years. They meet up on the family estate owned by one of the friends, Patrick, his sister Rachel is also one of the group. The last time they were all together was the occasion of Patrick's eighteenth birthday party, and there are flashbacks to this and earlier visits to the estate during school holidays.
The Prologue is very well written and gives you a taste of the drama/menace to follow. Past and current relationships between the friends are explored, especially between Lindsey and Rachel, and also the different experiences that Lindsey has within her encounters with Patrick and Rachel's parents, which have an effect on the final outcome.
I would have given this novel four stars but I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, hence only the three star rating, overall though a good story with an unusual plot and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin/Random House for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to love this book. I've loved Karen Perry's previous novel Girl Unknown, and couldn't put it down. I then tried reading another of her books, Only We Know, which I enjoyed but not as much.
This one was my least favourite and i really struggled to get into it.
That being said, it is very well written. Karen writes with fierce description and I think that, while this book wasn't for me, thriller fans should give it a shot.
I enjoyed the book and the different relationships between the characters. I enjoyed how the book moved between times. I thought the development of the characters was well written and I enjoyed the ending.
Great book. Brilliant plot and main characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Very enjoyable.
