Fun concept with not much substance. Although this book didn't have a whole lot of depth, I did enjoy the endless banter between the FMC and her bestie. I did find myself giggling at their antics.

If you like fluff, sarcasm, and banter, this may be a good choice for you.

🧚🏻 Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and author Keris Stanton for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

If you could see me now by Keris Stainton.
Izzy Harris should have it all – but her boyfriend has been ignoring her for months, she’s been overlooked for a promotion.
A good read with good characters. Likeable story. 3*.

I loved the cover and a good rom-com to brighten up a mood, this looked like it fit the bill. And it did.... sort of. It was a sweet read, but nothing amazing that would make me want to ever re-read. Just ok.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

BOOK REVIEW⠀
BOOK: If You Could See Me Now
AUTHOR: Keris Stainton
@kerisstainton

I actually read this book a few years ago, but for some reason the review never posted. So I am redoing it now.

This book… should have been a lot more. I requested to read it because it sounded so interesting! I felt I would relate to the character and her situation, because let’s face it, we all feel that way sometimes. But honestly...she becomes invisible. Like literally invisible. And then the story kind of breaks apart. I feel so sad but I feel like I would have honestly loved this story so much.

Short Synopsis (from Goodreads):
Izzy Harris should have it all – but her boyfriend has been ignoring her for months, she’s been overlooked for a promotion, and the owner of her local coffee shop pervs on her every time she has a craving for a salted caramel muffin.

Then her life is unexpectedly turned upside down.

Izzy dumps her oblivious boyfriend, and leaps on the chance to win a big pitch at work. Needing to work closely with gorgeous colleague Alex is an added perk…

But then her best friend has her heart broken, the pitch is way more complicated than expected, and Alex is keeping secrets. Does Izzy have what it takes to help her friend, save her career and get the guy?

I received this book for review purposes from NetGalley. ⠀

This was a cute story, but it's not anything special. I wanted a little more from it. Overall, I did enjoy it, though!

I want to thank Keris Stainton and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

It has been several months since I read this but luckily I took notes so hopefully I can write a decent review for it.

Ok so first off the synopsis is way more dramatic than the book actually was. I mean yes those things happened but after reading the synopsis I was expecting it to be a very dramatic read and that just wasn't the case. I did however still find this to be a cute read and I wasn't expecting the sexiness at all. It is fast paced and it's one of those books where you know how it's going to end but you don't care because you are so into the story.

Izzy's best friend Tash is amazing. She was the one that added the humor to the story and Alex was swoon worthy.

So as I would consider this a contemporary novel there was an aspect that I couldn't get passed. I'm not going to mention it because it's a huge spoiler but I just couldn't get fully on board with it but that being said it did make for a good story

Thanks to NetGalley and publisher Bookouture for the ebook ARC of If You Could See Me Now in exchange for an honest review.

Izzy Harris should have it all - but her boyfriend Max has been ignoring her for months, she has been overlooked for a promotion and the owner of a local coffee shop pervs on her every time she has a craving for a salted caramel muffin.

I give this book a rating of 5 stars and I highly recommend reading it. It was a great story about self doubt and finding your path in life. It was a quick and funny read. This is the first book I have read written by Keris Strainton and I found it very enjoyable.

Funny, sexy and feminist - Keris Stainton and adult fiction are totally a match made in heaven.

I couldn't have picked a better book to read by the pool in hot, sunny Malta.

This book is brilliant from start to finish. Smart, funny, fierce and feminist, this is contemporary fiction at its best. This book takes feeling invisible to a whole new, literal, level and has a lot to say about modern life, its expectations and realities. I found myself nodding away as I read, there is so much here to relate to. Such a great first adult book from Keris, I hope this is the first of many!

Review: If you want a comedy and a really good one then look no further, you have found one. A perfect romantic comedy that is brilliantly written and very real. Our heroine is great and Izzy is strong, she has to be to overcome the issues she faces. On reading this it makes you feel you can take on anything. Strong and powerful.

I absolutely ADORED If You Could See Me Now by Keris Stainton! It was so fun and funny and sexy and empowering and I absolutely loved every second of it. I'm no stranger to Keris Stainton's stories (I've read almost all of them!) but this is her adult debut and I was seriously impressed with it.

I did not know very much about the book before I sat down to read it. All I knew about it, really, was that it was meant to be funny. So it came as a major shock when the actual plot line of If You Could See Me Now was revealed. Because the plot summary I read (after it happens I went back to read the plot summary!) makes absolutely no mention of The Thing That Happens. So I won't mention it either. But ...I was very surprised. It's a bit weird, isn't it?

I loved Izzy as the main character. She's incredibly relate-able. I felt very much like Izzy in so many aspects of my life. Izzy is in a relationship with a man who doesn't treat her right, she's lacking in self confidence which means she's unsure if she should go for this promotion at work, she doesn't stand up to (nor does she know how to stand up to) the sexual harassment she faces on a daily basis. And it makes absolute sense that Izzy should feel absolutely invisible and inconsequential in her own life.

But then things begin to change. And I loved seeing the transformation of Izzy in this book. With the help of her best friend and good-looking intern at work, Alex, Izzy is able to break up with her shit boyfriend and dives into this really important pitch at work that could land her that promotion. Honestly, what I loved about this book more than anything is that there was combination of it being hugely funny at the same time as it being really feminist.

But I also really loved the relationships. I loved the friendship between Izzy and her best friend and the way the two women were totally in support of each other during a time that's stressful for the both of them. Women friendships are something I'll always cheer about. I think Izzy and Alex have so much chemistry, their zing was delicious to read.

But in the end, it's Izzy and her relationship and view of herself that was the main sell for me. She's amazing and she makes me realise we're all amazing and we should all strive for the best in our own lives.

I picked this book up for a lark, just by its cover. I needed something to perk me up and this book fit the bill perfectly.
Keris Stainton has done a fabulous job to write the book with over-the-top overtones.
Izzy after a night of drinks becomes invisible the next day and that starts the ball rolling...
I loved the way the author has developed Izzy from a quiet yes-girl to a confident young woman. It was just so uplifting.
Izzy and Tash's friendship was another sight to behold and their quirky banter had me in splits most of the time.
This book gives a nice break to the brain from the heavy reads and brings a smile to the face at Izzy's antics.
Recommended when the brain needs a break and the face needs a smile...

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Izzy has her job in a marketing agency, her boyfriend, Max and her best friend, Tash, and she has a satisfied life she thinks. That is until she addresses the issues with max and her situation and she realises she is invisible. Not just mentally but she wakes up physically invisible. Can she prove to herself with the help from Tash and her work mate, Alex, that she us worth so much more?

Oh my God, this book had me belly laughing at the one liners and it was such a feel good read. Thank you Keris

This was a brilliant fun read. I definitely laughed out loud in places (which is a shame, because I read on the bus), and loved the familiarity of lots of details - it's like observational comedy for women in a novel. I also loved that it had a definite contemporary feminist angle, which helped to make it feel relatable as so many of the details and annoyances mentioned are day-to-day things which grate and most women would be famiiar with. Smart and funny - definitely recommended. (Goodreads comments)

Romantic Comedy (with a splash of magic realism)

If You Could See Me Now, Keris Stainton. This hilarious novel features Izzy whose life is not quite what she’d wish for and whose boyfriend rather takes her for granted. And then something rather unexpected (and magical) happens and she’s forced to re-examine everything. I really enjoyed this – the characterisation is warm and easy to accept, and the crazy magic twist works in context. I found myself laughing often, with too many oh-so-familiar small details. I’ve always enjoyed Keris’s YA and children’s titles in the past – this is her first book for adults, but her trademark warmth and wit and keen ear for dialogue make it just as successful.

This was a DNF for me. I just never got attached or really liked any of the characters.
