This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

DNF - I couldn't get very far into this one. I tried a few times. I'm not sure if it's just not the right timing for me or if I need to try audiobook instead. The premise sounds amazing, so I thibk I need to give it another shot.

Omg talk about a roller coaster read wow this book kept me on the edge of my seat threw out I just couldn't put it down this writer keeps you hooked and once your hooked your not letting go I found this book thrilling the characters were fantastic and well thought out and the little clues all the way threw keep you guessing until the end this book stays with you long after you close the book this book is well worth the read I promise you wont be disappointed

Another 3 star read for me.
It was ok but I found it quite predictable in parts and overall felt that this kind of story has been done a number of times now. Of course this is just my own opinion and I'm sure there are many that will find this a good read.

Just cleaning up my NetGalley shelves & apparently haven't left feedback for this title. The reason for that is that I never read it, I started it a few times and just couldn't get into it. This was a captivating and intriguing reading. I couldn't put it down, at least for the first half of it. I think that I am not the best reader for this kind of thriller. I love the older ones, but these newer ones are almost all psychological, and it is not a bad thing, mind me, it is just not the right one for me, because I am hooked up until suddenly I can't bear the tension, and I want to know what is happening, who is who, and I don't care for all the rest. And this happened with this book too. But, again, it is not its fault. I was captivated by the story, and the author did a great job building up the tension, and she is amazing with her characters. I appreciated quite a lot that, for once, we see both the side of the coin, and that we get to see someone who loved her parents dearly, and that has had a great childhood. Yes, sure, things aren't going so well, and yes, something is amiss here but... but it was nice. I appreciated this part a lot. And I was totally enthralled by the story, I needed to know more. And I hurt with the mysterious girl, I hurt with Corinne, and I hurt with Ashley too. They all are real, and it was just too easy to sympathize with them all.
And in the first half of the book, I really wondered who was who, and what was really happening. The second half kept me guessing, but not so much as the first part, I was suspecting it all, and I think this was quite good because it helped me going on with the reading, because, as I was saying before, the tension was becoming too much for me.
But it was a really good thriller, and I enjoyed my time with it!

I am ashamed to say I first started reading this via ebook ages ago. Being a blogger can be a blessing and a curse and somehow this one got left on the shelf. Fast forward to 2020 and lockdown. This is when I discovered Libby and took advantage of audiobooks and supporting my library. I saw this one was there and downloaded – I tend to listen to audiobooks when I’m getting ready and doing stuff so mostly in the mornings. This is a slow burn of a story, with lots of scene setting and story telling – whenever I had time to sit and listen I was enthralled from start to finish.

The characters are an interesting bunch and families can be complicated and this lot really do make you question them. I liked Corrine a lot from the beginning I felt for her more often than not. It’s apparent that she’s still grieving for her father and her hormones for trying for a baby aren’t a great mix. She makes an interesting and in some aspects a slightly unreliable character yet as a reader I was on her side throughout.

The Dolls House is a chilling read that you really won’t see coming. A story where a childhood toy takes a sinister turn. This book will definitely keep you on your toes.

It’s told from a few different view points and in different time frames. On more than one occasion I thought I had the plot sussed how wrong I was. Although there was a person I suspected in one aspect but the turn of events sure did make my blood run cold. Just when you think you can’t be shocked anymore I found myself gasping out loud.

Phoebe Morgan has a fascinating mind and The Dolls House is a carefully crafted masterpiece that will send shivers down your spine. I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to read/listen to this one but I will definitely be reading more from Phoebe and heavily recommending her chilling tale.

This book was way too predictable. It wasn't super gripping because it was easy to see what was going on. It was a decent read but not memorable.

This book just wasn’t the perfect fit for me. This was a psychological thriller with themes that generally don’t appeal to me or interest me in books, specifically thrillers, namely infertility, IVF treatment, parenting of children, suspected infidelity and the ups and downs of being a mother. I generally prefer my thrillers to be deeper and darker. These are also themes that I feel were done a lot at one stage and so I’m somewhat over them. Had I known that these were the main themes in the book, I wouldn’t have picked it up. But since I did, here are a few quick thoughts.

This is a book that didn’t grip me at all, and so it follows that I found most this book to be a bit of a slog. Having said that, it was interesting enough that I kept reading and didn’t give up on it, but I think I was hoping that it would suddenly take off, because I’ve had that experience with other psychological thrillers. Sometimes they take some time to grab me. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen here, but the problem was probably me and not the book.

This wasn’t a bad book, but like I say, it just wasn’t for me. The two main characters in this story, who happen to be two sisters, didn’t interest me much. Corinne just seemed to be way too much – too insecure, too needy, too emotional and too neurotic. Her backstory never drew me in and I found it incredibly dull. To be honest, there was just too much about her that I didn’t need to know and that didn’t add to the mystery or suspense. Yawn. I preferred Ashley as a character and there were some of her chapters that I liked, especially when her 15-year-old daughter started giving her hassles. That seemed to pick up the pace a little, but it was very short lived. This book was much too long, which meant that I had to plod through page after page about Corinne’s inability to fall pregnant and her obsession with her childhood doll house.

It goes without saying that as readers we generally tend to enjoy books more when we can relate to the characters, when we can understand their feelings and actions, or when we feel interested in the themes and when they appeal to us on a deeper level. When that doesn’t happen, it makes it more difficult to enjoy a book.

If you’re new to the thriller / psychological thriller genre, then I can understand that you might find this book to be somewhat suspenseful and perhaps the reveals at the end of the book will give you all the feels. However, psychological thrillers are my favourites and I’ve read a lot of them, and to me this book just felt uninspired, unoriginal and the ending did nothing for me because there was nothing unique about it.

If the themes I mentioned above interest you, then please do give this one a try. Many other readers have given it good reviews. For me though, it was a bit of a slog and I didn’t enjoy it.

Really great book! As a fan of thrillers and horrors, I can say this did not disappoint. The ending was a bit predictable, but to be honest, most book endings are if you've read as many as I have.

I can't wait to see what this author does next.

The Doll House plays out as a psychological thriller, mixed within a contemporary family drama setting - it's a great.

I have tried many times to get into this book and am finding very little intrigue. Do inciting incidents happen? Yes. Is the doll house mystery intriguing? Absolutely not. There is so little to go on and the main character so weak that I cannot push past the 25% mark no matter how many times I come back to it.

A gripping thriller that had me flying through the pages and a twist that left me jaw-dropped. A fantastic reading experience!

For a debut novel this is a stomper of a book. It is an excellently written thriller of a book and I will be looking for the two books that have followed this one. I definitely recommend giving this novel a whirl.

My heart totally went out to Corinne and Dominic and their struggle to have a child. I remember my sister going through the same thing and to see her crushed just a little more after each failed attempt was heartbreaking. Corrine is an emotional wreck obviously some of it is the added hormones and some of it is good old fashioned jealousy and sadness when she sees other parents with their children are being neglectful of them.

Corrine could only dream of the situation her sister Ashley is lucky enough to find herself in. Ashley has the husband the three children and a job that she freely admits is to give her peace from the kids for a few hours a week. Mind you I think I’d want some time away from them too they sound like a handful. Her husband Jack is spending an awful away from home than he is there and Ashley suspects another woman.

Both sisters are being stalked/watched and this begins to manifest itself in different way with the sisters. Ashley is receiving phone calls where no one speaks and Corrine is finding little bits of a dolls house in fact the pieces are from a dolls house that the two girls had when they were little girls.

At first the story drew me in but I figured it out early on in the story and nothing really changed that mindset or surprised me in the story. Corrine was a little annoying with her constant panic attacks and Ashley seemed weak.

THE DOLL HOUSE by Phoebe Morgan is a well-written debut psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seats wanting more.

This story alternates between two adult sisters, Corrine and Ashley, and an unnamed girl.

Corrine and her boyfriend Dominic want only one thing…to have a family. They are desperate and have used up all their savings for ongoing IVF treatments. It even put their plan of getting married on hold, due to financial constraints. After three failed IVF attempts it’s her last chance to have a baby.

Ashley and her disappearing husband, James have three children. They include a fifteen-year-old wild teenager, Lucy, a toddler, Benji and a nine -month-old infant Holly who is suffering from has night terrors. Sleep deprived Ashley is left to manage her children on her own.

And then strange things start to happen. Ashley starts to receive creepy phone calls with no one on the other end. Corrine finds a tiny part of a doll house outside her flat, it feels as if it’s a sign…a doll house her late father had built for his daughters when they were young.

Corrine soon realizes that someone is watching her…and has been inside her house.

Why are parts of the doll house showing up and where is their childhood doll house? It seems to have disappeared!

I won’t say any more for risk of spoilers…you will just have to read this creepy novel to put all the pieces together. This was a gripping psychological thriller and a fabulous debut! Can’t wait for her next novel.
