Thank you for allowing me to read an advance review copy. I found it had some lovely recipes in and it will be a book that I keep going back to.
Provided by NetGalley for an honest review.
Good recipe book, but it feels like we’re just making up random combos. I don’t think these are recipes that are made on a regular basis.
I love watching British cooking shows and reading cookbooks from the UK. This particular book, Nadiya's British Food Adventure, combines my love of all things British with a desire to learn more about other cultures.
Nadiya Hussain is a breath of fresh air. No pretentiousness, no putting on airs. Just family style cooking elevated with a bright smile and a touch of style. You may recognize her as the winner of the Season 6 series of The Great British Bake Show. You could just tell she was a star from the start.
Her recipes are things that are easy to pull together, often with ingredients you already have at home. Her television series brings all of her recipes to life, as you watch her effortlessly turn classics into modern versions of dishes her family loves, such as the tea cakes with date butter. I could really gobble one up right now with a nice cup of tea!
An excellent cookbook by a welcome new face on the food scene.
Nadiya's British Food Adventure, explores all the variety of tastes and recipes available in our multicultural and adaptable land.
Nadiya Hussain brings her trademark warmth and humour to this collection of recipes putting her own twist on the British Classic.
The puddings and cakes especially shine here but there’s plenty to try.
I’d prefer more photos, as I like a photo for every recipe in a cookbook and that doesn’t happen here, but the photos that are included are great.
Classic Nadiya and classic recipes that accompany the TV series
Good basic book but not an awful lot that I’d want to recreate
Pictures are nice which help if you want to recreate a recipe
I’m not keen on use of canned food, for example with the crab cakes. I’d only ever do a recipe using fresh.
As always Nadiya writes in an easy to digest way, recipes are good and easy to follow. Some of her twists on British classics weren't to my liking but not every recipe is every book will be! Overall not a bad recipe book.
You get appreciate every meal of the day by pushing the boundaries for example cayenne eggs benedicts push the envelope of trite breakfast to almost reachign lunch heights. cardamom banana scones is a flavor that you can get close to what it might be by engaging your imagination. The scones have a different shape like sliced dried apples. Teacakes, date butter.. Alice in the Wonderland.
Wow that's all I can say I have tried a couple of the recipes it's fair to say need to work on presentation. I do make A lot of curries from scratch so presentation not bad still need some work tho. My next recipe I will try from Nadiyas collection is Easy Chicken Tikka Masala. I honestly don't know why I haven't thought of this? it makes so much sense first time I made an authentic Indian curry I remember the thought crossed my mind, it will literally cut out hours off cooking time I am so looking forward to making this will work on presentation and hopefully post a photo in next few days of my culinary skills. Just to show how easy Nadiya has made this recipe.
I remember Nadiya from the bake off and although I was not a fan of her baking I do like her cooking more. Recipes look delicious and not too complicated which probably stems from her being a family cook.
Absolutely loved this! Nadiya's recipes are always amazing and she breaks them down so they're so simple to follow. I loved this collection of twists on traditional British recipes. Nadiya is so great as she uses ingredients that most people have lying around in their cupboards, and is so innovative with being able to create a meal out of any leftovers you might have in the fridge. As we're all trying to cut back on our waste and be more efficient with food, this book couldn't have come at a better time.
I have to be honest and say that this is my first recipe book on Ms Hussains but I will definitely be buying others. I had a really good time trying some of the recipes but I only wish I still had my family at home to enjoy the fruits of my labour. Although my friends and neighbours certainly enjoyed them. My personal favourite was her chicken tikka masala then again it's my go to meal from the takeaway.
Simple and easy to follow. Good filling meals for the family to enjoy.
Read/Cooked for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Penguin
I found this another solid entry from Nadiya; I greatly enjoy her sunny disposition as she lights up the small screen, but her dishes are appetizing and doable by the average home cook as well. British cuisine isn't one that I had experimented with, so I enjoyed learning about this history of some of the more popular dishes and ways that Nadiya injects international influence into time-tested classics.
I was very pleased to receive Nadiyas book. I enjoyed watching her on T.V. and can't wait to try out some of the recipes in the book. It's a lovely book with beautiful photographs and easy to follow instructions for everything from breakfast to supper. I liked her description of her life when she was a child using food to describe her family.
Thank you NetGalley and Nadiya Hussain for the chance to enjoy this lovely book.
Unfortunately this is only a sampler of the book and my review is based on that 17 pages alone!
This book looks gorgeous! As this is a sample I think this will go on my xmas list this year, it looks beautiful.
I enjoyed watching Nadiya on TV and I think the full book will be a really good book with enjoyable recipes.
I loved Nadiya on Bake Off so I was looking forward to seeing how her personality would take off in a book of her own. I was a little disappointed at the size of the sample, but from what I saw it looked like a worthwhile recipe book. I'm hoping when the full book comes out it's filled with good, simple dishes. And of course a few advanced ones, to keep adventurous cooks going!
Its difficult to review this book with such a short sample, however the recipes i did see looked really good, the pictures are clear and sharp and really display what you need to be aiming for.
The cheese scones with chive butter look amazing.
I was looking forward to reading this as I like Nadiya's style and the little snippets she offers. This book displays her quirky sense of fun.
She's taken some traditional menu items and pepped them up, so it's great for the adventurous person. Like all the cookbooks on my shelf, I'll probably only use a handful of the recipes (the really simple ones), but having said that, a lot of them look interesting with some unusual ingredients and shortcuts.
Would have liked to see pictures for recipes that were missing them - like a jigsaw puzzle, I need to know what I'm aiming for, that is, what my end product is supposed to look like.
Can’t really give much feedback about this book as a sample with only 2 recipes (after the introduction) is not enough, which is a shame because I think Nadiya is very popular and I would have liked to have tried a few more actual recipes to be able to recommend this book.
