I think that the book of Nadiyas recipes will be absolutely brilliant! I loved her on 'bake off' and have followed he'd career closely since.
I was really excited to sed her recipe book on NetGalley, but thought that the publishes could have given us more than 2 recipes, and a method, well half of one!
Good luck Nadiya and thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to make cheese scones and Eton mess cheesecake'
I must admit to not watching Great British Bake Off so I haven't followed Nadiya's rise to fame but I know many people who have, including one of my friends who, just yesterday, baked the cheese scones featured in this book and they were an absolute triumph so I had to investigate for myself.
The first thing that strikes me is the friendliness of the writing - you can tell that this is someone without "formal" restaurant training because she doesn't talk down to her readers or claim to know better - there is a real homeliness which is as comforting as her baking, making it a joy just to read even if you don't make any of the recipes. If you do make them though, the layout of the book is nice and easy to use with clear instructions that are not patronising although they do assume a little knowledge to begin with (like "bringing together the dough" of the scone). And the bright and enticing photos also really help you to know what your recipe could turn out to look like which is always a great encouragement - it all seems so "achievable".
As a bit of a dinosaur, my only gripe would be that the measurements are all in grams and millilitres rather than including pints and ounces as well and that would put me off buying it for older relatives but that is purely an age thing and I know that my younger friends would absolutely love to receive this as a gift and it may even tear them away from their pre-packaged ping meals once in a while.
I enjoyed this sampler but it didn't get into the type of recipes I'd enjoy (savoury main courses) for me to full appreicate it. I like the nice clear style with good quality photos and writings from nadia about her family and love of the recipes. I am a little put off to see 17 paragraphs to make cheese scones. I find recipes with such minute detail a little overwhleming to follow and given the choice will go for a shorter, clearer one.
Good selection of recipes and food ideas. Will have to get the full book
Thank you for the preview. It was such a lovely way to break up the working day with a snippet of everyone's favourite bake off contestant.
Fantastic recipe book. Very detailed and easy recipes to try for both special occasions as well as everyday life
Brilliant little sampler about Nadiya and her love of food and family! The recipes given look amazing too
Having read a sneak peek of Nadiya Hussain's brand new cook book, I am now eager to buy the complete book to add to my huge collection of cookery books.
I enjoyed reading the introduction about Nadiya's family and childhood. There were just two recipes in this sneak peek, one of which includes my favourite pudding - Eton Mess. The recipes appear to be easy to follow.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publishers for this sneak peek and this is my honest review.
Nice sneak peek at what will hopefully be a beautiful and useful cook book by a very likeable lady. Very interesting intro by Nadiya herself and lovely photos.
