Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC for my Kindle.
I found this book of stories heartwarming and interesting. The only negative thing that I could say about it was that I didn't like the detailed sexual activities in the last story. Too much information! But I did like the surprise ending of the last story.
I understand that there are some hits and some mises when it comes to just about everything in our lives. But I still get frustrated and angry when a miss happens.
This (above) was one of the most misleading book descriptions I have ever come across. I chose this book for the cover and description... I was mislead. I was a full.
There are so many people and even more stories. Those stories have no beginning and no end. People and situations have hardly any backstories... There are African warriors and Indian Princesses, Irish girls with Russian names and Jewish girls with slaves. There are whites and coloured people. There is God (he is everywhere... with no apparent reason). There is Satan... (by the way, it is SHE in this book... once again, for no apparent reason).
I really struggled with this book. I did not understand it at all. I could not find a single charachter that I liked and wanted to follow the story of. I did not find all the joys and 'cornucopia' as was promised by book's description. What I did find, was a very disjointed patchwork of words.
Unfortunately, this book is 1 STAR only and a waste of time...
The Sun Shines Brightest At Midnight

A Spellbinding Read !
Right away I was attracted to the cover art and the synopsis on the book.
The stories are compelling, with a historical edge that spans 250 years. A spelling binding read that keeps you turning the pages until the very end.
4 stars !
I received this ARC through Netgalley from Black Rose Writing for a honest review.
Sorry, I could not get into this book. I couldn't keep it straight who was talking, and the events where they were leading.
A very enjoyable read! I must admit that when i first started to read 'The Sun Shines Brightest at Midnight', i did wonder where the story was going to take me. Without giving away too much, there are several interesting stories which span 250 years. All comes together in the last few pages of the story. Loved the ending, which i was not expecting.
Due to the individual stories being told, there were many and varied characters. I cannot really say which 'story' i enjoyed most, as all were so different. However, i do enjoy reading about slaves, so the first story where it all started must top the list.
I do recommend this novel. My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers, Black Rose Writing and this is my honest review.
