Another winner from Carol. I love the character of Robyn, she is feisty and tough. Two of my favourite attributes.

The twist was amazing and not what I was expecting at all.

Detective Robyn Carter is back with another grisly serial killer to deal with. This time two seemingly unconnected girls are found dead. One has been dead for months, barely recognisable even as a girl. In both cases no one even realised they were missing, in fact they'd been keeping in touch almost right up to their discovery. When another girl goes missing Robyn is convinced they are all connected. As usual she becomes emersed in the case only to miss the warning signs that someone close to her is in danger too.

Robyn Carter is perhaps one of the best of the current crop of female detectives. And she's a little different from the others in this isn't the life she wanted. In her heart she wants to be a mom, and be at home with her husband. But fate is a cruel mistress (especially to female detectives apparently) so instead she's a widow burying herself in work. It's obvious in every line that this is a woman who cares passionately about saving those who need her.....and it's apparent she cares too much. The job could easily kill her.

This is a book full of twists and turns, red herrings and double bluffs. We have the obligatory stupid boss who frankly if a real person would be so stupid he'd get hit by a parked car - I mean really? You'll see what I mean. The serial killer could have walked into his office and said "yes it was me. I did all of them, here's video evidence, some pictures...." and he would still shake his head at the connections. But honestly this was my only niggle. Again it's a great cast of characters, a mystery that takes some working out and a killer ending to whet our appetite for part 4. Bring it Ms Wyer, we're ready!

I received a digital ARC from Netgalley for an unbiased review.

Police are surveilling a storage unit as they've had a tip off that a drugs deal is going to take place there. When their surveillance is blown they raid the storage unit anyway but don't find any drugs - they find a body. DI Robyn Carter is given the case - the body is of a young woman that everybody thought had gone away of her own accord so nobody had reported her missing. This is just the first body though and Robyn can't help feeling that there must be a connection, The case becomes very personal for Robyn and she is determined to find the perpetrator. After the case is finished Robyn receives a photograph that throws everything she's believed for the last two years out of the window. Fantastic read. Love this series by Carol Wyer - Robyn Carter is a great character and I look forward to reading what she decides to do after the revelation at the end of this book.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Carol Wyer for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. I hesitated to request this because it's the 3rd book in the series. I'm so glad that I took a chance! And, being as it's the 3rd book and I haven't read the others, it could be read as a standalone.

Parts of the story were told from the victims voice during their captivity and the other parts from the lead detective, Robyn. I really liked Robyn. She was a capable detective and a good character to read about. As were the other characters. The plot was interesting and kept me glued to the pages. I didn't find this to be a predictable mystery at all. It's a good book when you set it down but can't wait to pick it up again. I know for a fact I'll be checking out the first 2 books!

*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5/5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. Ms Wyer definitely knows how to tell a story and keep you wondering and guessing.

I'm looking forward to the next book where I hope to see some of the relationships in the book develop further, as well as hopefully resolve the mystery of Robyn's husband resolved and. Have her move on.

I loved the first two books in the Robyn Carter series - Little Girl Lost and Secrets of the Dead were both big hits with me and so I was obviously looking forward to book number 3, albeit with equal measures of trepidation and excitement. You're always worried that the next in a series will not live up to your expectations, and the writer almost makes a rod for their own back by being so good in the first place - however Carol Wyer is a writing MACHINE! Can you tell yet that I loved it?

This book has believable characters that you invest in and actually start to care about. They're not flawless, unrealistic characters, but have their issues, their baggage, their history and it shows. In this fast-paced novel, we start as Amber Dalton wakes in a dark room with no idea how she got there, and a throbbing head.  Meanwhile, Robyn and her team discover, by accident on a routine drug search in a storage facility, the decomposing body of a young woman locked in a trunk.  Elsewhere, a young girl goes missing.

Robyn's DCI from the previous books has moved on and her new boss is DCI Flint who doesn't see any link between the cases and doesn't want her to waste resources trying to join the dots together. Luckily Robyn listens to her instincts rather than her boss and quietly tries to gather evidence, utilising her ex-cop, now PI cousin Ross, to force Flint to take her seriously.

During her investigation, Robyn's team determines that social media may well be  playing a large part in the disappearance of these missing girls and in digging deeper she finds links closer to home than she may have expected. Who is the mysterious teacher that keeps popping up? Is he somehow involved? What is the connection, if indeed there is one?

And the last chapter? Wow. I cannot WAIT for DCI Robyn Carter book number 4!

As with the two previous books Carol Wyer convinces me with a well written story that kept me reading past bedtime, with a book in this series that keeps getting better and better. I really like DI Robyn Carter and hope to get to read more about her soon. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture!

Fast paced and engaging. Great cast of characters and a plot that could come straight out of the headlines. I appreciate that though this is a series, it can be read as a stand alone. This is my first book by Carol Wyer and definitely won't be my last! Looking forward to reading her future books as well as going back and catching up with her previous novels!

From my blog: Always With a Book:

My thoughts: This is the third book in Carol Wyer's DI Robyn Carter series and I have to say this series just gets better and better. Not only do the cases get more and more intriguing, but the character development is top notch!

Once again this book opens with a scene that grabs you and the book never really lets go...it keeps your attention all the way through as Robyn Carter and her team work non-stop to get to the bottom of what is going on. She believes there is a serial killer preying on young girls and will stop at nothing to prevent another girl from falling victim, especially when she realizes the next girl is someone close to her. Of course, this means going up against her superior and fighting for all the resources and manpower she needs - but she's willing to do all she can to get the person behind this...but can she put all the clues together in time?

As much as I love the gritty side of the case, I love the people side, too. I love getting to know the characters that make up the series and that's where this series excels. We see a new side to Robyn's supposed arch-nemesis DI Tom Shearer - he is quite pleasant to Robyn on numerous times and I'm curious to see what that is all about moving forward! There is also a romance brewing for two of the team members and I think it is quite sweet...while this hasn't been made official, it was hinted at and I hope it works out...I guess time will tell.

This book is fast-paced with lots of twists and turns that keep you glued to the pages. The use of social media and cyber-bullying added a new dimension to the case and put it in today's world. And I love the way Ross, Robyn's cousin, is integrated into the book...as a private investigator, his insight into the cases is always on the periphery, but he always has much to add, at just the right time.

This series is one of my favorites, and while I have really enjoyed all the books up to this point, I have to say, this one surely has the best ending only because of the major curveball it threw. On the one hand, given all the reminiscing that Robyn had done throughout the book, it sort of makes sense...but on the other...are you kidding me??? I desperately need to get my hands on that Book 4 ASAP to get to the bottom of that. I need to get answers NOW!!!

Schoolgirls are going missing in Derby and it isn't long before DI Robyn Carter links several cases together as the work of one killer. What could be the motive? I loved this book as I usually guess the killer way before the ending. I didn't with this book. Carol Wyer has a clever style of writing that keeps the reader hooked.

Another solid read featuring Robyn Carter and her team trying to catch a serial killer, someone who may be using social media to hunt for their next victims. This third book in the series carries on the rivalry from the first two books between DI Carter and DI Tom Shearer. Shearer is his usual arrogant self, jumping on the good drug busts and leaving Carter to handle the annoying and unsavoury discovery of a body wrapped in plastic. Their new DCI Richard Flint is no fan of Carter’s investigative skills or her gut instincts. Fortunate for Carter, she has an unshakeable team helping her hunt down clues and knock on doors. Carter still has some ghosts which haunt her and ones she may have to face in the future if the final chapter is an indicator.

Carol Wyer has successfully made the leap from Chick Lit to the Mystery/Thriller genre with The Missing Girls. The plotting is sound and the pacing is just right to keep you speculating as you follow the thin leads dug up by the detectives. There are occasional leaps of faith to move case forward but they take nothing away from the reader's enjoyment. I enjoyed the twists and turns in this one and look forward to more DI Robyn Carter books in the future.

ARC received with thanks from Bookouture and NetGalley for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read in this series. I was given an ARC for review and broke my rule of reading books in sequence but after reading this I will be going to read Little Girl Lost and Secrets of The Dead which are already on my TBR list.

WOW, what can I say this third book in the DI Robyn Carter series grabs your attention from the first page. How are these missing girls linked? Can DI Robyn Carter solve the mystery? There are twists and turns that will keep you guessing throughout this book.

I must say that this book will going on my top reads of 2017, you can’t get much better than this.

But is this how Carol ends all her books on a cliff-hanger???

I cannot wait for the next instalment in this series to see what happens next.

I highly recommend this book to anybody who love a great mystery/thriller as this one will keep you on the edge of your seat.

I give this book 5/5 Stars

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre for this ARC in exchange for an open and honest review.

I'm not going to go to rehash the plot details as all you need to know is in the book description, but I will say it's a hell of a read and a gripping one to boot.
Carol Wyer writes in such away you feel you are there amid the investigation from the pathologist investigation where you learn more about the forensics to DI Robyn Carter and her team piecing the pieces of an intricate puzzle together, you can't but help but look for clues alongside the team. By becoming so involved in the plot I felt a sense of urgency to find the answers before another girl went missing.

DI Robyn Carter is part of the reason I love this series so much, unlike many fictionally Detectives she's relatively normal and not your typical stereotype she's not brash and reckless, doesn't appear to personality problems, or constantly have issues with her superiors, but all the same she's an intriguing character. Very much like a real life investigation The Missing Girls is fast paced, with plenty to keep the reader engaged. The chapters told from The Missing Girls sent shivers down my spine, there is a constant undertone of foreboding that radiates from these pages, you sense their fear, distress and confusion as their captor toils with them.

Carol Wyer writing goes from strength to strength as does the DI Robyn Carter series. So many crime book series start off so well, but loose there way after the first couple of books, but that's not the case here in fact each book in this series leaves you desperate for more, especially this one but I'm not going to say why and spoil the read for others. The Missing Girls is a crime thriller that will keep you reading long into the night, as I pretty much found I just had to read “one my chapter” and a dozen chapters later I was still reading. It sounds cliched but this is undoubtedly the best book in the series yet, and a crime book/series I would highly recommend.

The Missing Girls was my first book by Carol Wyer - and I was so excited to finally read her work after having several positive interactions with her on instagram (if you aren't following her yet you should!). Despite this being the third book in the series, I was able to dive in and enjoy every minute of it. The story itself was really dark and twisted where girls were going missing and then getting tortured until they were killed. The perspective changed from the victim to the investigator throughout which kept it really interesting. I also really liked Wyer's description on serving one's country as an intelligence officer - it was spot on based on my family member who used to do that. Cheers for addressing those topics so eloquently.

This is the 3rd book in the DI Robyn Carter series. I have read and enjoyed all 3 books. But this one started out slow for me and it was over halfway through the book before I got into it. I was also getting irked by the mundane references to the dead fiancee. Made sure she ate and got her to use post-it notes, really? All in all, the writing was good and the story was interesting with a twist. It also left quite a cliffhanger so I guess I will be reading the next book too.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of Carol Wyer's "The Missing Girls" in exchange for an honest review.

This the the third book in the series featuring DI Robyn Carter and her team, it can be read as a standalone book but if you read them in order all the characters become your friends as in each book you learn more about them. The Missing Girls is very topical as it touches on cyber bullying. Robyn is faced with one body and other suspected missing girls and has to link them together before time runs out. There are plenty of twists and turns and a huge shock at the end leaving you in anticipation for Carol Wyer's next book in December. A series of books highly recommended! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Oh, this series just gets better! I have read all of them, in order, and I really enjoy reconnecting with the characters each time. However, after saying that, this book can easily be read as a standalone as well.

Robyn is trying to figure out why these girls go missing, what connects them and following lots of leads with the help of her amazing team. She has a new boss and the two of them are still feeling their way in their working relationship. This is a confusing case, with lots of threads to somehow tie together and I was on the edge of my seat throughout! Right at the end of the book, there is a shock which I didn't see coming at all, which makes me really want to read the next book - which luckily is coming out in December :)

Highly recommended book, I am loving this series to bits.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. With much thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture.
