Wow, yes, this is what a solid mystery, suspense, thriller book is made of. Carol Wyer outdoes herself in this story about revenge, bullying, and the evil world of high school. As girls show up dead, DI Robyn Carter must figure out the connections between the girls. Two went to the same school, however, the third, is a working adult. How are they connected? Robyn interviews a myriad of interesting characters including a club bouncer, a storage locker owner, and a college kid who may have purchased a trunk like the one the first victim turned up in. As the story came to a close, I thought I had guessed who the killer was. Of course it couldn’t be that easy though. This book kept me reading past my bedtime. Well done!

Thank you to Netgalley, Carol Wyer, and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Goodness gracious me, this series just keeps getting better and better!

The third instalment in the DI Robyn Carter series starts off with a truly gut-wrenching and harrowing chapter. Just like that I knew I was in for another treat.

When DI Shearer is given a tip about drugs stashed away in a storage unit, things don't quite go as planned. There are no drugs. There is however a trunk with the body of a young woman inside. CCTV footage reveals very little and the woman who left the trunk in the unit is proving hard to find. And then another girl goes missing. Are these disappearances connected and how?

I truly adore Robyn and her team. There's fun banter, they don't seem to waste time on petty rivalries and even DI Tom Shearer was almost likeable. I wonder how long he can keep it up! Things aren't all rosy at the station though, with a new chief in town who's a bit harder to win over than his predecessor and Robyn must fight and come up with a lot more than pure instinct to convince the new boss that she's on the right path.

The investigation into the missing girls is incredibly scary as it's highly realistic and believable in this day and age. But that's all I'll say about that because I don't want to give anything away. In an odd sort of way, I could almost sympathise with the killer. Their reasons for doing what they're doing are really rather heartbreaking. Suffice to say the brilliantly executed plot is disturbing and tense, truly gripping and compelling. And it makes me wish I had more of an idea about what my thirteen year old niece gets up so she stays safe.

And then! I don't normally make a habit of mentioning the ending. But holy cow, the ending! Talk about being utterly sucker-punched! I was so blown away, I almost thought the world tilted off its axis! This is how you make sure the reader comes back for more!

Carol Wyer strikes again and continues to up her game. As this series goes from strength to strength, I can hardly wait to get my grabby hands on book four! Did I mention that ending?!

This novel gets off to a slow start but once things get going, it's great. I am liking this series more and more with each book. Getting to know Robyn and her team seems like a slow process as these books are all about the police work, nothing too personal.
In this novel, girls are being murdered and Robyn is convinced that there is one killer responsible. She has trouble convincing her superiors of this though and has to rely on herself and her team to move the case forward. I like that Robyn follows her instincts and does what she needs to do to catch a killer. I honestly did not know who the killer was, there were a lot of red herrings and just when you think you know, something else turns up. I loved the cliffhanger at the end of the book and can't wait to read the next one...

The missing girls

Carol Wyer has done it again with this sensational, suspenseful and gripping thriller. DI Robyn Carter is faced with one body and other suspected missing girls but finds it difficult to link them together.

I feel as though I really have got to know Robyn and almost feel as though I'm working alongside her as part of the team. The investigations are always thorough and Robyn uses her team well. The suspense builds quite quickly and we are fully aware that time is running out for the victims.
This time the case comes a little too close to home for Robyn and she needs to solve it fast.

She is flawed and doesn't always make the right decisions but that's what makes her more believable as a character. Her relationship with step daughter Amelie really brings out her softer side and along with her relationship with her cousin Ross who is a private investigator provides a more multi dimensional person.

The book touches on cyber bullying which is a very current and terrifying trend that needs to be stamped out. The app mentioned was a genius idea to provide a reflection of what is happening to society today.

There is a huge shock in store for Robyn but my lips are sealed on that one.

I can honestly say that I can see these books being televised and they would make a brilliant substitute for fans of Prime Suspect, well done Carol I'm now eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

I read at the back of the book that Ross may have his own stories soon too which would be amazing.

Thanks to bookouture for the Arc

Holy Missing Girls Batman by Carol Wyer. Ok, that’s not the real title of the book, but that’s how I felt after I read it. WOW.

They’re back...

DI Robyn Carter and her extraordinary team are back. While pouncing on a self-storage locker during an apparent drug bust, they find a large trunk. They open it believing they will find illegal substances, only to find a dead girl. While they work to uncover the identity of the girl, another goes missing.

DCI Mulholland has moved on, and DI Carter’s new boss is DCI Flint, and he does not believe that the missing person case has anything to do with their dead girl. So what’s a girl to do? Go rogue and investigate it anyway. And it’s a good thing she did. DI Robyn Carter’s spunk and tenacity are what I like the most about her. She follows her hunches and is usually right.

Anna and Mitz are back and cuter than ever. I like how their friendship has blossomed during this book. I enjoy both of their characters immensely.

Sweet, Sweet Ross.

And ROSS. We mustn’t forget Robyn’s sweet, sweet cousin, the PI who will do anything to help her. At the end of the book, Ms. Wyer mentions that many fans have asked about Ross having his own series. I wholeheartedly agree. He would make for a fantastic private investigator series.

Carol Wyer’s The Missing Girls, as usual, is a roller coaster ride with lots of twists and turns. While I did figure out “whodunnit” early on, it still didn’t take away the intrigue surrounding the events that unfolded.

And what a freaking cliff hanger at the end! Please tell me you will continue that storyline, Ms. Carol Wyer. Pretty Please. With cherries on top.

As with all of Carol Wyer’s books I’ve read, The Missing Girls is five no-brainer stars for me. I simply can’t wait for the next installment. Same bat time, same bat channel.

Preorder this little zinger today for only $0.99 - you won’t have to wait too long, it’s coming out in only a month.

This was a very exciting book. It keeps you turning the pages to see what will happen next. I like the main character, Robyn, she is smart and speaks up when she thinks she is right, and keeps on working even when the boss don't agree with her view of the case they are trying to solve. Very good read. I did wish that the people that Robyn had relationships with were more fleshed out, but awesome mystery.

I love a good police procedural, but The Missing Girls absolutely blew me away! As someone who has never read any of the DI Robyn Carter Series prior I had no idea what I was walking into, but man was this amazing! It can be read as a stand alone book, or as part of the series, and I have no doubts that lovers of psychological thrillers and good detective stories will be fighting over this baby when it hits the shelves in a few weeks time.

I really enjoyed how the POV jumped around at the beginning of the book, but narrowed down to Robyn’s at the end. It really mimicked the chaos of the investigation and caused me to hone in and become more critical of the evidence present as the case got closer to its resolution. I won’t say that I enjoyed the segments written from the victims point of view, but they were incredibly powerful and at times difficult to read. Withholding the word carved on the girls foreheads had a massive impact, and I most definitely choked up with the big reveal.

Would I recommend this book? YES! A million times yes! I can’t say enough amazing things about The Missing Girls. It is sure to please those who love psychological thrillers, police procedurals, and murder mysteries.

Excellent book. Great main characters and a real page turner. I loved the plot and would recommend this book.

Wow, best of the series yet and highly recommended.
I've been known to take away stars for cliffhangers but I can't with good conscious give this less than full marks as I've been on the edge of my seat since starting it. Being the summer holidays it's hard to find a spare minute to sit and read but I've gladly given up a couple hours sleep per night in an effort to read this.
The plot is gruesome and kept me guessing, it was lovely to see the police characters develop more extensive personalities and I look forward to the next instalment to see where the cliffhanger leads

My review as posted on Goodreads:

Unfortunately I missed out on reading the first two books in the DI Robyn Carter series before stumbling upon 'The Missing Girls'.

It is often difficult coming into a crime series part of the way through. With this one I found I was drawn in from the start. The opening is very chilling, naming Amber, will she become the first victim?

I like the use of real settings in Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
The characters are superbly crafted. The throw-away dialogue between the police creates a sense of the real work-place banter.

The tension builds to a dramatic ending. There are a few red herrings along the way.

On the strength of this I will certainly keep an eye out for other books by Carol Wyer
I give my thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for this review.

This British police thriller is a bit drab in the beginning and then it worms its way into your brain and you can't let it go! How are the missing girls connected and where are they were the main questions in the book. I fell in love with the writing and could not put it down. Its a story that is timely for our age. Loved it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers, Bookouture, for this review copy. Also thank you to Kim and Noelle at Bookouture for organising the blog tour and giving me the opportunity to be part of it.

This is the 3rd book in the DI Robyn Carter series. It can be read as a standalone book but the story would be better read as a series to get the understanding of the characters and the long-standing storyline that runs through each book. The previous books are Little Girl Lost and Secrets of the Dead, both of which are just as good as this book!

DI Robyn Carter is back. She is on the case of a killer after a girl’s body is found in a chest inside a storage unit. She, and her team, are losing valuable time trying to discover who the mysterious woman is who rented the unit. Whilst they are working hard, with very little clues, another body is found and Robyn discovers she is looking for a serial killer. Robyn not only has to contend with this case, but she’s also struggling with her own personal demons. The story is interspersed with memories of Davies, Robyn’s deceased fiancé, and she also is locking horns with her new boss, DCI Flint. Back on the case, Robyn discovers that another girl has gone missing and this one is closer to Robyn’s heart. Can she find the killer before it’s too late?

Wow, wow, wow!! What a fantastic book. I’ve loved the other two books of the series, and this one is right up there with those! Robyn Carter is back! She’s still struggling with memories of her late fiancé Davies and this, coupled with her clashing with the new DCI, is proving to be a problem at work. It was nice to see DI Shearer back again, but it was also nice to see that they seem to be getting on better with each other by the end of the book.

This book is all about Robyn, and whilst you get to see a little bit of Robyn’s personal life, it is mainly about her professionally. I just wish she would just open up, but I’m guessing that this will come in future books!! Ross, her cousin, is featured in it again, but only fleetingly, which was the only disappointment about this book for me as I loved Ross in the other books (still think he deserves his own book!!).

The story twists and turns and leads Robyn and the team up so many dead ends. There are lots of red herrings and Robyn begins to get frustrated with herself for missing so many, what she thinks are obvious clues. As per normal with this author’s books, I have swapped and changed my mind as to who I think the killer is, and as per normal again, I got them all wrong. There is a huge cliff-hanger at the end of this book, which I obviously won’t share, but all I can say is I literally cannot wait until the next book. This series is getting stronger with every book, and if you haven’t read them yet, then this is a huge recommendation for you to do so.

Fantastic author, fantastic series, fantastic book! Five big fat stars!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read the MISSING GIRLS. This is my first introduction to Detective Robyn Carter. This is a solid police drama. This is a stand alone, but I think readers would benefit from reading the first two books.
Good.

I love Carol Wyer’s dark side.
It’s a cleverly told story, and the suspense was delivered perfectly along the way.
The pieces of the jigsaw puzzle weren’t coming together, there were gaps and pieces missing. It was frustrating for Robyn as she felt the cases were connected but just needed that missing jigsaw piece.
I thought I had it sussed at one point, but I didn’t!
Well-paced and exceptional writing. A pleasure to read. It had me gripped and I had to read just one more chapter, and another one….
Thank you Carol! After getting to the end of this one I really, really can’t wait for the next one!

Thanks to the publishers, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the copy in return for an honest review.

The Missing Girls is Book 3 in the DI Robyn Carter series. This is a great series that gets better with every book. I love how the characters and their relationships to each other are developing.

I loved this book; I got a bit frustrated with myself as I have just had eye surgery so it took me longer to read than normal. I wanted to read but couldn’t! It is so hard when you have a great book and can’t get comfortable enough to read it. Major frustration!

Carol Wyer was on fire with this one it was fantastic, right from page one I was totally hooked. I loved the characters, the story, and the writing style, everything about it. This book was full of twists and turns, it was emotional, dark in places and impossible to put down.

I genuinely didn’t guess the ending which was awesome!

The Missing Girls is one of the best books that I have read so far in 2017. Totally deserves 5 Stars.

This author gets stronger with every book. This is the third Detective Robyn Carter book and they find the body of a missing girl then identify a second girl has gone missing. The main character is likeable but not perfect and you can follow her thought patterns about the case. The author leads and you easily follow where the story leads. This builds on the characters introduced in the first two books but you could read without having read the first two books.
I loved the story and the hint about book four. Would definately recommend.

I really enjoyed this one but the whole way through I was getting annoyed by the repetitive references to the dead boyfriend. Three books in and it's getting boring - then the ending happened! Can't say much more without spoiling it but definitely looking forward to book 4.

This is a superb book! Carol Wyer's series featuring DI Robyn Carter gets better and better. The writing is excellent and the characters are beautifully realised, both cops and villains. This story is fast-paced and gripping from the start, with a very contemporary feel to it, concentrating as it does on the evils of social media. When a number of young girls go missing and turn up dead, Robyn must work out what connects them and what motivates the killer. Excellent!

Carol Wyer does it again! I love this series - each book in this series is perfection. I started this one wary - how could this author better her absolutely brilliant previous two reads in this series? But that's exactly what she has done! This amazing book delivers on every level: it packs a gut-wrenching punch, there are twists galore and the story blew me away! The characterization is spot on, every single character believable and well rounded, their motives and actions absolutely spot on. This is a book that scared and thrilled in equal measure. Brilliant and unputdownable. An author I hugely admire. I cannot wait for her next book.

Another gripping instalment in this established series with an unexpected cliffhanger ending but we really do need to see more of Ross.
