Her Last Good Bye is a paced mystery that will keep readers on their toes, romance lovers sighing over Lance and Morgan and everyone else will enjoy the ride.

Author Melinda Leigh is one author that it doesn't matter how many books I read I can't seem to get enough of the stories. I have read everything she has written and I have yet to find one book that isn't a 5 star read.
Morgan Dane series is the newest series from Melinda Leigh and it is not to be missed.
Melinda Leigh is able to bring new reads up to date in just a few short words if you didn't want to start with book one you could move right into book two and know everything that is going on.

I love the authors ability to create characters that all types of readers will be able to enjoy their strengths, weakness and desire for the truth. The progression in the character development, rise and fall of the story as it progresses as well as the suspense that will have readers biting their nails is just one of the many reasons Melinda Leigh a must read author!

Thank you to Netgalley, The Author and Publisher for the advance Copy for my honest thoughts.

I really enjoyed this book. Morgan and Lance are a believable team and their days are action packed trying to find Chelsea. The dynamics between Morgan and Lance really adds to the story and the short chapters add to the suspense. The plot is well put together and full of surprises right up to the end. I hope that Melinda Leigh writes more books in this series. I would definitely read them.

I received an ARC from NetGalley to read and review. The below is my honest, unbiased opinion. Thank you, Melinda Leigh, the publisher, and NetGalley, for allowing me to review.

HER LAST GOODBYE is the second book in Melinda Leigh's MORGAN DANE thriller series. Morgan Dane, an attorney, and her partner, Lance Kruger, an investigator, look into the disappearance of Chelsea Clark, a young mother who vanished after a girls' night out. Chelsea's husband, who happens to be a suspect, hires the duo to prove his innocence. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier their investigation becomes. Soon, Morgan is stalked by a violent predator, putting everything and everyone she's ever loved in grave danger. Morgan and Lance must unmask the killer before Morgan becomes his next victim.

I try to avoid this at all costs, but I didn't read book one before reading this one. (Whoops!) This was my first Melinda Leigh book, and I enjoyed it. My lack of reading book one didn't hinder my enjoyment or understanding, and I credit that to Leigh's writing. She was able to provide enough backstory to keep me in the loop. (Kudos, Leigh!) Told in multiple points of view, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the character development and plot twists. This was a fast-paced thriller that I read in just a couple hours.

HER LAST GOODBYE by Melinda Leigh. Wow! This one is filled with suspense and danger. It's a white-knuckle edge of your seat thriller. Ms. Leigh has a terrific knack for keeping the reader on their toes. Every time I think I know who the bad buy is, boom, she throws in a twist that had me second guessing my choice. Having met our heroine, Morgan, and Hero, Lance in SAY YOU'RE SORRY, it was nice to see them again and be familiar with them. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. On that note, this is definitely more of a thriller then a romance but there's a sprinkle of love thrown throughout. The story, while suspenseful, is also filled with the love and support of family. While this the second book of the series, in my opinion, it is not necessary to read the first, however, it would give you some background to Morgan, Lance and several other prominent figures in the story. I really enjoyed this and hope there will be future tales of the Morgan Dane series in the future. (received ARC for honest review)

This is the first book I've read of Melinda's and I can honestly say that it will not be my last! I enjoyed every page and chapter!

The relationship between Lance and Morgan is amazing and the realism between loosing one relationship and beginning another with children involved was well thought out.

I loved the twist with the kidnappers, it really did catch me out!

I have been a long time fan of Melinda Leigh's books, and I have loved everyone one of them for their on-your-edge suspense mixed with a little romance. But Her Last Goodbye tops all the other books for me, Just when you think you have the storyline figured out Melinda twists it around until you realize there is much more to the story. If you love a great 'who done it' mixed with suspense and a dash of romance, then you will love this book. Trust me! :)

Leigh has written another engaging and heart-pounding thriller in HER LAST GOODBYE. Morgan Dane is establishing herself as an independent lawyer with an office in Sharp Investigations who employs former police officer Lance Kruger. Morgan is still adjusting to her new life. She is finally able to see past the grief that consumed her with the death of her husband two years earlier when he was deployed. She is busy taking care of her three young daughters and worrying about her aging grandfather. She and Lance are starting a romance but both are so busy that it is progressing slowly.

When Tim Clark comes to hire her and the Sharp Investigations to find his missing wife, a new case begins that puts Morgan and Lance in grave danger. Tim feels that the police are so fixated on him as a suspect in his wife Chelsea's disappearance that they aren't looking anywhere else. Morgan sympathizes with the young father who doesn't know what has happened to his wife. Lance, whose own father disappeared when he was eleven, wants to find Chelsea so that her family doesn't have the years of uncertainty that he had.

The two investigate neighbors, Chelsea's work colleagues and friends, and Tim's work colleagues which gives them a pool of suspects. They also discover that Chelsea had her car worked on at a automotive shop where a level 3 sex offender works. While they investigate, they also have to deal with a sheriff who isn't at all in favor of independent investigators getting in the way of his officers.

Chapters from the kidnappers point of view add to the suspense in this title and really ramp up the creepy. What happens to Chelsea sent chills up my spine.

Fans of suspense stories with some very realistic romance will enjoy this second Morgan Dane adventure.

Chelsea Clark was a loving young mother to two beautiful children that were her entire world so when Chelsea went missing it was obvious something was terribly wrong. The police were focusing their investigation on Chelsea’s husband leaving him to worry that whoever was truly responsible was going to get away with it and every second that passed was another with Chelsea in danger so her husband decided to hire his own help to investigate the case.

Morgan Dane is a single mother of three herself but also a lawyer that is used to finding out if her clients are innocent so when approached to investigate Chelsea’s case she felt compelled to help find the missing mother. Teaming up again with ex-cop turned private investigator Lance Kruger the two find themselves getting closer personally while they put themselves in danger to find out the truth of just what had happened to Chelsea.

Her Last Goodbye is the second book in the Morgan Dane series by Melinda Leigh. The story is a romantic suspense read that changes the point of view all throughout but centers around Morgan who had returned to her hometown with her three young children after the devastating loss of her husband in the military. Now she’s trying to balance a career and her family while exploring a possible new relationship with Lance who she’s found herself working with on another case.

This series is apparently a spin off from another series but I never found myself lost from not having read other books by this author and felt the story was built rather well without having read other background from the other series. Each book has it’s own case so if necessary they could be understood reading out of order or as a standalone but I’d encourage readers to start at the beginning to get to know these great characters as both have been great books. The author has done a wonderful job focusing on the intensity of the story but also slowly building the romance in the background. I will certainly be looking forward to any more reads featuring Morgan as she’s a great strong character that I’ve come to enjoy.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Loved this book and the series.

As Morgan is starting fresh in the private sector she realizes it might not be as easy as she thought it would be. But this next case will have her finding out which lines she is willing to cross and which once she isn't.

Lance ad Sharp are in the kitchen with her when they get their next client and he hires both the PI business and her as a lawyer. He is a young father who's wife has gone missing and he isn't happy with how the local law enforcement is helping with her case and focusing on him. He has a screaming, colicky newborn and a toddler and he simply just wants his wife back. He's done a good bit of work for them but he needs further help and they are off and running on a whopper of a case.

Lance and Morgan are getting closer and in spite of the frantic life she lives as a single mother of three who also cares for her grandfather and a teenager with failing kidneys, they fund time for one another, but it's hard.

This case will be difficult for her as it brings her into personal contact with a sex offender and a cranky sheriff. Her grandfather's health seems to be getting worse and her fears for him are heavy on her heart and mind and she becomes one big stress ball.

Lance is still concerned he won't be able to have a relationship with him having to manage his mother's issues. There is something different going on with her he can't put his finger on. This case is bringing up bad memories for him and he's scared that it will also do the same to his mom.

Will they be able to move forward with their relationship? What's going in with his mom? Will they find the missing mom or will this family have to live like Lance has had to live his life never knowing? Will her grandfather be okay or will she lose him too? Can they keep her kids safe from harm throughout this case?

Certainly a book to sink into and read a while. It's not always pretty and it certainly gets ugly but it's a fantastic read. I love these books.

I realized quite early into the story that this is a sequel and but it didn't matter. The referencing to the backstory from the first book was short, sweet and to the point. Enough to figure out what was going on. This could easily be read on it own.
This thrilling tale follows private investigators, Morgan and Lance, who were hired by Tim to investigate the disappearance of his wife Chelsea, a young mother of two. Tim felt the local sheriff was too interested in investigating Tim than looking for Chelsea.
As the story goes along, we don't know if Tim killed her and is just playing a part; Chelsea left on her own because she is tired of the stresses of parenthood with a colicky baby or if she was actually abducted.
It's not a spoiler that we find out that Chelsea was indeed abducted and held by a scary and vicious captor that keeps her in a shipping container. (Side note: Usually I don't prefer stories that have any reference to current media stories, but Melinda's use of it was not a copy and paste so it was ok in my opinion)
So Melinda takes us on a journey of who-done-it with great suspense; I was holding my breath at times with anticipation. The love story that grows between Morgan and Lance is sweet and not too over done. Overall, a good suspenseful story, good romance and believable details of crime and investigation.

Duh, in typical Melinda fashion this book is incredible.

This book looks in on all of the characters from a third person perspective. And the fact that Her Last Goodbye was flawless is no small feat!

I love Morgan and Lance! They work together and are great lead characters. They're fierce and determined, and I think they're characters that can double as role models, even when they're breaking the rules.

This book is excellent because you're blinded to who the bad guy is, and it's a lot of fun to watch the identification process play out.

Melinda is at the top of her game with this one, and I highly recommend it.

**side note, while you don't need to read The Scarlet Falls series first, I strongly urge you to do so. I also strongly suggest (because I can't force you) that you read Say You're Sorry which is book 1 in the Morgan Dane series :)

After being underwhelmed by Melinda Leigh’s first instalment of the Morgan Dane RS series, I was thrilled to see her in top form again with the follow-on, HER LAST GOODBYE. HER LAST GOODBYE ramps up the suspense and delivers a much more engaging mystery (and deranged villain) than SAY YOU’RE SORRY, and both heroine Morgan Dane and hero Lance Kruger--both of whom I found rather lacklustre the first time-- have matured into compelling characters reader can be emotionally invested in. Though very light on the on-page romance, HER LAST GOODBYE perfectly depicts an adult love story in a realistic way often absent from most novels in the genre: when Morgan and Lance make that inevitable transition from friends to lovers to more, they do so in a believable, adult way that is heartwarming and makes the reader confident they’re in it for the long haul. It’s a testament to Ms. Leigh’s prowess as an author that she’s made me come around on Morgan, whom I considered an uninteresting milquetoast in SAY YOU’RE SORRY and whom I want to be like when I grow up now! Looking forward to more from the series soon.
