This was a pleasant story that ended positively and was enjoyed.
Another absolutely fantastic book from Sarah. I can never get enough of her beautiful characters I've read and loved every single book in this series. I'm very sad to see we are at the end
So after reading Holiday in the Hampton's I was really looking forward to reading Harriet's story and I wasn't disappointed. Sarah Morgan never fails to write stories that have heart, friendship and love at the core. Ethan at first as not who I thought should be with Harriet but as the story progressed, it became clear that Ms Morgan knew exactly what she was doing putting the two of them together. It was also wonderful to revisit Snow Crystal resort for a wedding and catch up with everyone. I'm gutted this series has ended but cant wait to see what her new one will be
This is an enjoyable easy. It took me some time to get hooked, and I have to admit to skimming over some of the work details and lengthy dialogue but overall it was a good read. I found the second half more enjoyable. All the characters were likable. I think I would have preferred it to feel a bit more Christmassy but I suppose this will mean different things to different people. A well written book and great for a Sunday afternoon on the sofa. Thank you
As much as loved Harriet's story overall I felt it was let down by the ending. Being one of Sarah Morgan's Christmas books I guess I was expecting something a bit more magical and swept of your feet than this. I loved the addition of the O'Neill characters popping into the story it always great to revisit older series characters for an update but I thought it would add more to Harriet and Ethan than it ultimately did
Moonlight over Manhattan is a wonderful romantic read with two great main characters. Harriet Knight a shy quiet dog walker and Ethan Black an emergency department doctor.
Harriet has always been shy, having suffered with a stammer from childhood she decides she is going to challenge herself by doing things out of her comfort zone, one of them involving internet dating which leads her to Ethan's department...don't ask read...its hilarious.
Ethan having seen all manner of terrible sights has reigned in all his emotions so he doesn't become affected by all the people he treats.
When Ethan's sister urgently needs him to look after her dog he is completely out of his depth. Enter Harriet who agrees to help him.
So begins the slow burn of a relationship with a dialogue between the two that is sparkling and at times saddening as they reveal their inner turmoils to each other.
This is one of those books you think about during the day and can't wait to get back home to and carrying on reading.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book honestly
This series is absolutely and totally addictive reading. I had been so looking forward to reading Harriet's story after reading the explosive previous book of Holiday In The Hamptons about Fliss Harriet's twin sister. This book had a lot to live up to! but as usual Sarah Morgan doesn't disappoint and gave us a wonderful story about a woman learning to challenge herself and overcome things that have held her back all of her life.
Harriet Knight is the total opposite of her twin sister Fliss, she is a quiet and gentle woman who has always been protected by her sister and her brother Daniel. When she finds herself on her own in the world for the first time she starts to come out of her protective shell and starts to show everyone that she is stronger than they all think that she is. Ethan Black is a man that is in total control and calm at all times by switching off his emotions as he works in the ER saving peoples lives until Harriet arrives in his life to look after his sister's dog Madi.
This story will make you laugh and will fill your heart with joy from reading about the beautiful Christmasy and snow filled scenes, of them walking around in Manhattan, to the fun and games that happen with all the dogs that Harriet looks after. It's a romance that has a wonderful build up of passion between the characters and seeing them both learning to trust and let go of the badness from their past makes for a very exciting read. Sarah Morgan has a knack of writing stories that are so easy to get lost in and lose all track of time and before you know it you have arrived at the end of the book, always leaving me craving more of her stories.
This was a amazing 5 Star read for me.
Spritely romantic comedy, with engaging dialogue. Harriet decides internet dating is not for her, but how to meet her perfect match? Reads fluidly and it is easy to empathise with the predicaments that occur.
We've met Harriet in previous stories (albeit this story can be read on stand alone basis) and I have always loved her character so I was really excited to read her story and I have to say I was not at all disappointed. This was an utterly charming romance that pulled me in right from the get go.
What I loved most about this book is that Sarah Morgan delivered multi faceted characters that you can't help but connect to or feel for; I felt every emotion along with these characters. Just as importantly, we are not short changed at all with the romance. These are two characters that you get to see heal each other and slowly fall in love while their friendship develops.
This was quite simply a lovely contemporary romance read. It's a story that builds and builds slowly with wonderful characters and just the right amount of angst to give it that kick. I really enjoyed this one and it has been by far my favourite in this series so far. 4.5 wonderfully romantic stars
I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley; there was no inducement or obligation.
This is a lovely, sweet story. All her life Harriet has been protected by her brother and sister, but they are both now living with their partners, and organising weddings, and Harriet is living alone, learning to deal with everything by herself. She has come up with a plan to do one difficult thing that scares her, every day until Christmas. One of her first ordeals is to try on-line dating, she meets up with three different men, who in different ways are all awful. On the last one she finds the man so terrible that she escapes by climbing out the window in the Ladies rest room, so that he doesn't see her leave and try to stop her. Unfortunately she twists her ankle badly, and has to go to the emergency room at the hospital to make sure it is not broken. The doctor who treats her is Ethan, a workaholic, she is quite taken with the way he finds time to reassure patients and relatives, and after a busy evening he is surprised that she accepts his advice without argument.
A few days later Ethan is called on by his sister to look after her dog, his niece has had a bad accident and his sister has to fly to the other side of the country to be with her. She assures him it will be fine, as she has arranged for the dog walker to take the dog out twice a day. Of course disaster falls, Madi hadn't enjoyed being on her own and had set about everything she could reach - his apartment is a total mess when Harriet arrives to walk her. So their relationship gets off to a really bad start, Ethan goes ballistic, and shouts a lot when he sees the mess, and Harriet gets snippy on behalf of the dog. Of course, once Ethan calms down and apologises they start to get to know one another better, and start to enjoy each others' company.
Of course, the path of true love never runs smooth, and they have a few minefields to cross, but there is definitely a happy ending with the aah! factor. Both Harriet and Ethan are lovely, well written characters, and you are cheering them on through every falter in their relationship. And the visit to Snow Crystal is a delightful twist, meeting again much loved characters from a different series of books.
Sarah writes lovely stories, which are well thought out, with very real characters, you feel as though you know them. Very well worth reading.
All is changing in the comfortable world Harriet Knight has created for herself. Her twin sister Fliss has moved out to be with her boyfriend Seth; and her brother Daniel is loved up and wedding planning with Molly. So where does that leave Harriet?
Completely out of her comfort zone Harriet decides to push herself further still, by doing something that challenges her every day in the run up to Christmas. When an accident has one of the Bark Rangers clients in desperate need of help, Harriet steps up to the plate and willingly juggles her schedule to be able to pick excitable spaniel Madi up from her temporary home. What she didn't expect was to be faced with the handsome and intimidating Ethan Black.
Ethan is an ER doctor, dedicated to his hectic timetable at the hospital; and completely convinced he's done with love. When his niece is in an accident and his sister asks him for help he's more than happy to pitch in; exactly how much trouble can one dog cause? He soon realises the answer is quite a lot, when he finds Harriet in his apartment having a very one-sided conversation with Madi and the smells of her cooking isn’t the only thing he finds delicious.
Will the magic of a white Christmas give Harriet the confidence for her biggest challenge of all - letting Ethan know he has her heart; even though he might not be ready to give his in return?
It took me a little over 24 hours to finish this book, which was a lot longer than I wanted but unfortunately life got in the way. I love these books and I always find myself wishing I could devour them in one sitting! The intricately linked series that Sarah Morgan has created is fantastic. The characters have such depth and are full of warmth, you can’t help but get sucked into their hopes and dreams.
I was so happy when I realised this instalment was about Harriet. I’ve loved her character in all her appearances throughout the last 5 books; and of course this was helped along by the introduction of dishy doctor Ethan Black. It was lovely watching Harriet grow in confidence whilst Ethan mellowed, how they helped each other achieve what they thought was the impossible.
This series is particularly special because it lets the reader still keep some continuity with the protagonists from previous books. Although I do have to say, I missed no inclusion on the Urban Genie girls in this story.
I’m crossing my fingers, toes and any other bendy appendages that there will be more to come, but I can’t possibly imagine who the next book will focus on. However, whatever may come next from Morgan is still sure to be a delight and I will be watching out on NetGalley as eagerly as always.
