From meeting Natasha Pellegrini in the first book in the series I knew she had a story to tell. I sensed that she wasn't only saddened by grief and that certainly is the case when Claiming His One-Night Baby begins with the funeral of her husband, Pieta.
Matteo Manaserro has tried to avoid being around Natasha. She broke his heart by marrying his cousin after Matteo had foolishly thought Natasha felt the same way about him. So it's as much of a shock to Natasha as it is to Matteo that he ends up at her door. Then like an explosion in a science lab, the author adds a blast of chemistry and the passion that was once restrained all those years ago is unleashed and the pair are utterly consumed by withheld emotion.
The morning after, Matteo is stricken with regret. He was right to never trust Natasha, after all how could she sleep with him when Pieta had only just been buried? Except, unknowingly to Matteo, that one night with him was something she'd longed for. Her life with Pieta wasn't the happy marriage everyone thought it to be and she'd sacrificed so much of her life.
When Matteo finds out their one night together lead to a pregnancy, he is dubious about Natasha's insistence that the baby is his. Natasha knows there is no doubt. After all, she was a virgin until then.
There were times I struggled to like Matteo, even though his back story is an emotional one. He clearly needed to be loved. But the way he reacted to Natasha at times, especially when the truth comes out, made me want to put him on the naughty step. And I felt that Natasha's acceptance of her engagement and marriage to Pieta a bit unbelievable, especially because of her love for Matteo. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the story.
Once more I was gripped by this series. You could easily read each one as a standalone, but honestly, why would you want to? Read them all and feel the emotion. Michelle Smart writes chemistry that heats up every page. Can't wait to read more from her!
This book starts on low with the first scene taking place at a funeral. A funeral where you meet Natasha and Matteo. They have a past full of intrigue, where the more it is mentioned the more you want to know. I will admit I found this book hard to get into but once I got gripped I could not put this down. It is full of romance, misunderstandings and secrets.
I am so happy this is part of a set and can't wait to read more.
This is the second book in a series, the first being 'Protecting his defiant innocent', and I found this book as good as the first. However, I would recommend you read the first book before you read this one. Natasha and Matteo had history before she decided to marry Pieta the brother of the heroine in the first book. He has just been killed in a helicopter crash whilst on a philanthropic trip to the turbulent Caribbean island on which he was planning to build a hospital. Mata and Matteo meet again at the funeral. That night Matteo goes round to Natasha's home and one thing leads to another and Natasha later finds out she has fallen pregnant. She decides to continue with pieta's plan to build the hospital on the turbulent Caribbean island and she goes out there. Matteo travels there too, knowing that Natasha could be out of her depth. I won't give any further spoilers, but would definitely recommend you read this book, however I would suggest you read the first book before this one.
An typical story line but a bit dated. I found it hard to like the characters as the premise of them sleeping together on the night of Natasha's husband's funeral, seems a bit cold and callous no matter the condition of their marriage. Then to finding out she's pregnant two weeks later seems a bit quick. The time frame of the whole book seems to be within a 2 -3 months period, which seems very quick for all the events to have occurred.
Natasha's husband's big secret can be guessed fairly early on and in this day and age seems highly unlike to have caused such a scandalous response from everyone.
Claiming His One Night Baby by Michelle Smart is the second in the Bound to a Billionaire trilogy., which are about the Pellegrini family. Natasha Pellegrini, Pieta's widow, has sex with Matteo Manaserro, Pieta's cousin and becomes pregnant. She has been hiding Pieta's secrets for 7 years whilst Matteo resents her for choosing his cousin over him 7 years ago. They have to overcome all these issues and Pieta's lies before the Pellegrini family will accept them as a couple and they can have a happy ending.

4☆ Gripping, passionate, secrets and lies
Claiming his One-Night Baby is the second book in the series.
I wasn't fortunate enough to have read the first book. Although it was a little confusing at first. I soon settled into the story.
Claiming His One-Night Baby is about broken relationships, secrets, betrayal, lies, passion, chemistry, lust, anger, new beginnings, learning to trust and love again, becoming a Mother and family.
Natasha and Matteo are reunited at Natasha's husband, Pieta's funeral. In which he passed away in a tragic helicopter accident.
There is an underlying tension between the two, due to them being a secret couple a long time ago, only for Natasha to marry Matteo's cousin Pieta.
Natasha left Matteo heartbroken, betrayed and angry.
Natasha left him for money and wealth over love, happiness and passion.
Seeing her again is stirring up all the feelings and passion between then.
So when Matteo's cousin Francesca asks Matteo to keep an eye on her, he can't refuse incase the family suspect.
He debates whether to go see Natasha.
But the anger and engulfing passion steers he's heart towards her house.
When she opens the door. Emotions overwhelm them both and they are frantically ripping at each other's clothes, searching and exploring each other's bodies like they had never been apart.
They both know it is wrong of them and Matteo is aware that Natasha and Pieta were trying for a family so she was probably not using protection.
But he was so caught up in the passion and heat of the moment he didn't care.
What I was most annoyed about was the fact he could of used protection.
After all it is a man's responsibility just as it is a women's.
The second thing was although Matteo was bitter and angry and overcome with grief. He discarded Natasha after he had his wicked way with her. Leaving her confused.
It was hardly surprising when Natasha ends up pregnant!
Both Natasha and Matteo are very lonely and crave the self approval of their families.
Matteo comes across as a pig at times and to be honest I didn't really like him too much.
Ok he was willing to support Natasha and I know she hurt him but he just didn't seem to want to give her a break.
Natasha grew in strength when she became a mother. I enjoyed watching her mature into an independent young mother.
Natasha didn't have it easy and it appears her marriage wasn't a match made in heaven either!
I think because Matteo see how strong and independent Natasha had become it only fuelled his desires to want her more.
There is no denying there is some serious chemistry between the two of them.
But can they work out there differences or will they go their separate ways?
I guess you will just have to read to discover the answers!
Although this book has passionate encounters, there is also lots of secrets and truths to be uncovered. I wouldn't say this book has lots of romance. It's more chemistry, lust and anger sexual encounters.
I would recommend this book.
But in my opinion this one isn't a standalone book.
So definitely read book 1 first.
I missed out on the character building and story. Which I believe would of made this book a 5☆ review if i had of done.
Recommended for readers who enjoy love/hate relationships, passionate encounters, uncovering secrets and lies.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mills and Boon Insider for giving me the chance to read this beautiful book and review voluntarily.
Claiming His One-Night Baby is a book in the Bound to a Billionaire series by Michelle Smart.
Natasha Pelligrini and Matteo Manaserro have some history together. History that sees a fledgeling romance stop before it really gets a chance to start.
Seven years later Matteo sees Natasha again at her husband's funeral. He keeps his distance until the wee hours in the morning when he finds himself on her doorstep. Emotions are high, and before he even gets through the door they are kissing passionately and end up in bed together. Unprotected, unplanned sex leads to Natasha getting pregnant!
They both want the baby even if they don't want each other, but in keeping it there are going to be a lot of family members hurt. In order to not let on that the baby was conceived on the day of the funeral, they agree to spend a month together at Matteo's house in Miami. Can they spend that time working out the problems they face? Could they become a real couple, or is there just too much history between them? Will too many people get hurt?
I think the author did a great job of portraying the strong emotions between Matteo and Natasha. It's not a case of one of them being the bad guy, and the other the victim. They both have had a lot to deal with and when they start to learn more about each other you can't help but feel happy that there could a happy ending for them. What is extra special is that right til the end Natasha remains true to her word, even though it could mean losing Matteo for good. Despite there being some quite emotional moments in this story, the author stopped the book from being too sad by adding just the right amount of humour and passion between the couple. It was a pleasure to read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers' copy of this book.
This book has everything you would expect from this line - simmering passions, handsome hero, lovely heroine - and Ms Smart wove the story into a compelling and page-turning triumph.
I'm trying hard not to give too much away, but I have to touch on the dead husband's secret. I'm old enough to remember when people were disowned and outcast for this, but these days I would hope it wouldn't be an issue. There was an added dimension of inheritance here, however, which added credibility as to why deception was necessary..
I felt for the hero,. A horrible tragedy in his past, coupled with his interactions with the heroine years ago had hardened his heart. He tended to fly off the handle and gave Natasha a very tough time on occasion. Of course she forgave him, and I was glad she did. But, if I'd been her I would have given him longer to think about what he'd done, before rushing back into his arms. But maybe Natasha is just nicer than I am :0)
This is the second part of a trilogy but it was a satisfying read in its own right. I would happily recommend it to a friend. And I will be looking for the first book (and the third when it is published).

Ms Smart At Her Best, 5 stars 🌟 :
Book two of Ms Smart's Trilogy centred around the Pellegrino family focuses on Natasha, Pieta Pellegrino’s widow and Matteo Manaserro, Pieta's cousin and close friend.
We are introduced to Natasha and Matteo at Pieta's Funeral during which Pieta’s sister Francesca, whose story we discover in the first book, asks Matteo to keep an eye on Natasha whilst the cousins are working together to fulfil Pieta's legacy and build a hospital in his name on the hurricane hit Caribbean island of Caballero. However, not all is as it seems, Natasha has been keeping secrets firstly protecting her late husband's reputation and secondly of the past history she and Matteo share. So when Matteo visits on the night of the funeral passions flare and now with a baby on the way can they come together for the sake of the baby and can Matteo forgive Natasha for choosing Pieta over him seven years previously and lying to him so they can finally have their belated HEA!
Although this is book two of a trilogy you can still read and enjoy it as a standalone however, in my opinion to get the best enjoyment out of it and the trilogy then you would enjoy reading Protecting His Defiant Innocent, Francesca and Felipe story first. With the conclusion coming soon from Ms Smart, I for one can not wait to see what Daniele’s story will be in Buying His Bride Of Convenience.
Fyi I received my copy from NetGalley and Mills and Boon via Mills and Boon Insiders, but this does not influence my opinions as all opinions are my own.
Michelle Smart gives this storyline a new life and brings characters that are likeable, relatable and that reader will come to care about in this book. A very enjoyable read and will keep a look out for this author in the future as this book hit all the right places and would recommend everyone to give this book a go.
