Lighthearted and good fun to read with serious messages woven throughout this YA novel. I'd like to know what happens next to the characters and plan to read the rest of the series.

I went into this expecting a light easy read, and was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. The book does a wonderful job of exploring the characters friendships, motivations and histories: I will be keeping an eye out for more in this series

This is a wonderful book. I think the Rosewood Chronicles have the potential to become very popular. There are no witches, wizards or strange creatures but there are secrets, betrayals, royalty and genuine friendships in the making.
Thankfully there is no cliffhanger; just the knowledge that there is more to come.

Undercover Princess is a fantastic start to a new series. The two main Characters, Ellie and Lottie, are so well drawn I feel like I know them in real life, and the descriptions of the school and palace were so vivid I could easily picture them in front of me. I love the mystery ... can't say any more about that, of course! ... and the ending was satisfying while still leaving room for the next book.

I really enjoyed this and I'll be looking out for the next one. Thanks for the chance to read it.

Firstly, thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House UK Children’s for allowing me to read this wonderful book before publication.

The second I saw the cover of this book I absolutely knew I had to read it. The cover seriously has a WOW factor! Connie really did bring all the characters to life me and was unbelievably beautiful. The bond that grows between Lottie and Ellie is wonderful and together they truly are unstoppable.

This book has a little bit of everything, friendship, suspense, mystery, and for Lottie it’s about finding somewhere you belong and something you can believe in. There are twists that you never saw coming (I didn’t anyway). There is also going to be some romance coming in the next installment as well I reckon.

Connie brought Rosewood Hall to life, it has been described in way that you can actually imagine yourself there.

I don’t think I can recommend this book enough without giving away spoilers. If you ever get the chance to read it, then do. This book for me has a very well deserved 5/5 rating.

I went into this expecting a light frothy read. Thankfully, it was not at all what I expected. This is a series that has potential to go to some very dark places!

I was super lucky to have been sent a physical ARC = copy of Undercover Princess from the publisher, Penguin Random House (I also got an EARC copy on Netgalley). I was SO excited when the email landed in my inbox because I knew I would absolutely love this book and I wasn’t wrong. This is a stunning debut by Connie, who capture the whimsical world of a boarding school, great characters, mystery and one of my all-time favourite main characters all in one go. Let’s get into the review…

The first book of the Rosewood Chronicles, Undercover Princess focuses on Ellie and Lottie, two roomies at the acclaimed boarding school, Rosewood Hall. It has always been Lottie’s dream to attend the school and she soon sees that not everything is as it seems. I really liked how Connie created the school, going into even the smallest detail. For example, the syllabus includes classical studies, coding, Japanese, tea appreciation and THREE separate theatre subjects, which I obviously really appreciated. You really feel like you’re being thrown into the whirlwind of a new school which makes Undercover Princess the perfect kind of read for this time of year.

I think there’s always an apprehension when a “youtuber book” comes out but people like Connie (as well as others like Louise Pentalnd) are defining themselves as writers and youtubers, not writing youtubers. Connie clearly has a natural talent for writing and has clearly loved doing it for a long, long time. And its shows, it really does show. She isn’t afraid to use more old fashioned words and create her own style of writing which combines both the quaint feel of a boarding school with the modern world, where all the students get their phone taken away from them during term time. I am honestly so thrilled for her that she has clearly worked so hard and something and in my eyes, created a masterpiece. Not to mention that COVER. LOOK AT IT.

So let’s talk a little bit about plot, well, actually that’s quite difficult without being spoilery. Put it this way, Undercover Princess is the perfect mix of boarding school, mystery, drama, swooning, love, friendship and of course, Princess-ness! There are SO many quotable moments in this book that I cannot wait for you all to read (wish I could quote them here!). Lottie Pumpkin is a wonderful character who I have completely fell in love. She goes through a lot in the book, with some surprisingly emotional scenes which actually seem a lot more real next to all the craziness of her new school. You can see that Connie has put a lot of herself into the main character, but also, has created her a separate identity and character for her. She’s brave, intelligent (a bit nerdy!), fun, kind and has an adorable naivety about her. The book features swoon-worthy guys, and great female friendships but it’s so much more than that! I can’t say anything else without spoiling it for you, please just pick this book up!

This book is honestly just right up my alley and I think it will appeal to people young and old alike, I’m going to lend my ARC to my mum for her to read because I think it will remind her of the St Clares series which she loved when she was a child! I absolutely cannot wait for book two, I know Connie is working on it right now. I am so grateful that I was able to read this early because it is simply wonderful and a real feel-good, hug-on-a-page type book. I binge read most of it, sat in the bath, with my classical music playlist on and it was perfect. I can see myself rereading the book, and probably the whole series for years to come. Congratulations, Connie!

A stunning debut full of love and potential that packs a punch! A great story with great characters and a contender for book of year for me!:
