I really enjoyed the book. Loved the story plot and twists. Approachable characters, realistic situations. Some descriptions or story „fillers” were tiny bit too long, but in overall - very good book and I’d read more by the author. Thank you, great job!
This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
Missing by Charlie Gallagher.
In the busy town centre of Canterbury, a woman and a young boy are snatched from the street.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Couldn't put it down. Love this author. 5*.
I received an advanced copy of this book through Netgalley. This book had me from the very beginning. I love that it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I would highly recommend this book to my fellow readers. Thank you for the chance to review this book!!!!
In the busy town centre of Canterbury, a woman and a young boy are snatched from the street.
A few miles away, a man stands on the edge of a viaduct ready to throw himself off. Sergeant Shaun Carter, a police negotiator, is trying to talk him down, but he dare not get too close. This man is the only person who has the answers needed to find the missing. This story is very tense, what is happening? How are they connected? How can this mystery be solved?
I enjoyed this book, it was very intriguing. I had not read any of Charlie Gallagher books before but I will read more
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this book. My review is my own honest and unbiased personal opinion.
Another great, fast paced read by Charlie Gallagher. I recommend this series to anyone that enjoys police procedurals.
Thanks to Joffe Books for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
Mission by Charlie Gallagher from Joffe Books is a thrilling thriller that grabs you from the start. This is a fast paced thriller with an interesting plot loaded with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the last page. This well written thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat and will grab you from the start and hold you until the end. The perfect book for any fan of thrillers.
I thought this book started off quite well and initially found it both interesting and absorbing., The story itself was good and had a lot of potential. A serving police officer's former wife and child are kidnapped and he is made to do things very much against his will in order to secure their release. My problems with the book began about half way through when I started finding it all too unbelievable and, for me, it became less readable. I liked the fact that much of the book was set in a part of the country I know well and can understand why the actual place where the police were based was fictionalised but thought the Police Force could have had a name more in keeping with the area instead of one that sounded as if it was in Scotland. I'm sure other people will enjoy this book but sorry, it wasn't really one for me.
I was really under the impression that End Game was the last in the Langthorne series, and to my surprise out pops book number 5 - Missing. I was so thrilled to see that the series is continuing!! Thanks so much to the author!
The book is intense, the plot thrilling and gripping and doesn't let you go until the end. I honestly hope there is a book number 6!
Recommended for anyone who loved the Langthorne series, and anyone who loves a great read!
Really enjoyed this thriller, there were plenty of twists in the story. A real page turner. Highly recommend it.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Charlie Gallagher for the copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.
I am afraid that this book was not for me. It was too sordid and seedy a tale of drugs and the horrors of that type of life.
I could not continue reading it, after about 25%
Sorry.
Missing is a thriller that will keep you wondering, "Just what is going on here?" A boy and his mother is abducted off the street, another person is ready to jump off a bridge. Police negotiator Shaun Carter is trying to talk the man down, but must be careful. He is the only person who knows where the boy and his mother is. Things go south and Shaun seeks help from George Elms, who has issues of his own. I received a copy of this book from Joffe Books. The review is my own opinions.
A woman and a child kidnapped.. A man ready to jump off a ledge to his death.. Damn, this book jumps straight in with the action!
I liked the storyline here, things aren't as they seem.. And the twists here kind of gave me whiplash 🙈 My emotions were running high through the whole book.. Especially during the scene in ..(I'm trying not to spoil anything).. the hotel with the order he is given.. Damn 😕😯
I really liked the characters too. George I really loved, I just thought he was great.
Overall a really good book, definitely worth a read 👌🏻💜
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read and review this book
so many twists and turns with this book that i couldnt put it down... the mind games that were played on everyone at times wasnt easy to read but once started you just want to see how it all ends and the ending was brilliantly written
this one is a keeper
My 4* review for Missing by Charlie Gallagher. This is the first i have read by this Author and was allowed to read it via Netgalley Kindle Download. WHAT WOULDN’T YOU DO TO GET YOUR FAMILY BACK? Shaun Carter's ex wife and son are missing and at the same time, as a Police Negotiator, he is called upon to talk down a jumper from a nearby viaduct that he has talked down before. Will he be successful again, and how does Bobby, the jumper, know that Shaun's family have been kidnapped, and how are the two situations connected?
Shaun is warned not to get the Police involved but he needs some of their intelligence to try to stay one step ahead of the kidnappers/smugglers. Events move fast with Shaun rushing round trying to find out who is behind this and hoping to keep his family safe at any cost. There are lots of different scenarios as the plot unfolds but all are woven together very well, although i must confess i got confused a couple of times and needed to re-read the previous chapter/chapters to make sense of it. This book moves along at a rapid speed, the suspense starts at page one and does not stop until the very end, which is fantastic but i was exhausted by the end of it! I was gripped from the beginning and would definitely read more from this Author.
Thank you Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book as an advance review copy.
The blurb mentions 'stunning twists'.
I can confirm that this is the case.
I have read and mildly liked two of the earlier books by Charlie Gallagher.
This one I liked more. I enjoyed the swift pace of the narrative. I also liked the way the characters were introduced and developed.
The returning character of DS Elms was slowly brought into the story.
Some of the police procedural aspects of the story seem to push the bounds of credibility, but I can forgive that because the novel builds to an exciting and dramatic conclusion.
Hence a four star rating from me.
My thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for a copy in exchange for this review.
Fast paced thriller that is action packed the whole way through. The short chapters add to the suspense and the story is very well written. This story is about Shaun's family being taken and the reasons why it happened. This is a complicated plot where the empathy for Shaun makes it an easy read.
Thank you Netgalley for this book.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I must admit I didn’t finish it; I gave up at about three quarters of the book. I was willing to read the whole book but a far more promising title came my way, so…
Missing has good characters and an interesting plot. Although it is the fifth book in a series, I didn’t feel as I’ve missed a lot of details. There is action in the story, and in general it is not bad at all. However, I’m sorry to say, it just couldn’t grip my attention. My mind kept wandering while reading the book. In places it was very slow, especially because there was a lot of action in other places. I fully believe this author has a lot of dedicated fans, but I’m not one of them … yet.

DNF @20%.
I feel bad that I couldnt finish this book. The description sounded really good. A woman and child taken hostage, but it just didnt grab my attention, and my mind kept drifting. I cant think of anything really wrong with it, just that it wasnt for me. Maybe I will give it another go another day.
