After the devastating events of Witch’s Tears, Merry will stop at nothing to save her brother Leo. Even if that means ignoring her coven’s orders to do so. But doing so has unforeseen consequences for the teenage witch. As she and Leo are forced to confront evil from past and present and her powers growing, how far are they will to go to save the people close to them?
So… where do we begin?
I really like the series. Yes, it’s a bit clean teen for my tastes but I really had fun with this series and these characters and Witch’s Blood is no exception.
Like I said earlier on, I read this in four sittings, but two of them were several hours long (which is super rare for me to do. Am always doing something or, in the recent summer months, too hot to read/do anything!) and I wouldn’t do that if I did find the book a fun read. And that’s what this series is - Fun.
Ok, it’s not perfect - like I said when I read Witch’s Kiss and Witch’s Tears, this does feel a tad skeletal and there are one or two twists that readers will see coming a hundred miles aways. Plus, I sense one or two of you won’t be a fan of the ending, but after reading so many books over the past few months where their ending are complex or slightly messy, it was nice to read something that was neatly wrapped up with a bow. I know some of you guys won’t like that, but as I’ve always said this series is a series I would happily read on the beach, I was kinda relived that this kind of ending was here. I didn’t want a messy ending this time round - I wanted an ending with kissing and hopeful futures ahead.
I know I’m a bit nit-picky, but I had fun with this series and each book in this series was an addictive read. I kinda wish I binge them backtoback over the summer or Easter break as this would have made such a fun holiday read! I am very intrigued to see what Elizabeth and Katharine’s next series, Throne of Swans, is going to be like…
What an ending! Slightly confusing as it's set in another world but this action-packed ending is fab! Goes to show that a group of family and friends can conquer anything!
This was a brilliant ending to a fantastic series.
There were so many things I loved about this book, the list could be endless. With my only downfall being that maybe this was for a younger audience than myself. but obviously, that is no reflection of the book.
I love the full circle the plot has taken and the ending was incredible.
I loved how throughout the whole book (and series) I was completely on the edge of my seat. The characters are so well developed as was the world(s).
The series as a whole was thoroughly enjoyable and engaging.
A perfect book for young adults and fans of witches and magic
The perfect finale to such a magical and enticing series, I loved seeing Merry gain strength and join forces with her ancestors to ultimately save her brother. The sibling relationship at the heart of this series is one of the strongest I've read, and the only incentive you should need to pick it up. Their bond is so strong, they would literally do anything for each other, and that's so refreshing to read in a genre that's full of quests to find a love interest. The stakes were high, and the enemies strong, but you never lose hope in Merry's ability to ultimately conquer evil. Now, excuse me while I go and re-read the series all over again because I don't want this to be over.

A magical tale of family and magic...
I finished this book at the beginning of March and I'm finally giving it the review that this book, this series and these Sister Author's so deserves.
Merry would fight through covens, dark magic and shadow realms to get her brother back even if it rips a gateway, a point of intersection between their world and the shadow realm where Ronan resides. But Merry’s power is getting stronger, by breaking the boundaries she believes that it’s her fault. So this is what it has come to, the final battle between the original fairy-tale and those who want to control it once and for all. Will their finally be a happily ever after? Merry's family has transformed from Book 1 to this final book. There have been ups and downs, with Merry’s family oath, Leo’s kidnapping and then finishing it together as it always should have been. It brought pain, fear, tears but also moments of such joy, contentment and happiness and that’s what The Witch’s Kiss Trilogy is all about.
From start to finish, it’s doesn’t seem possible by how much these characters have grown in such a short amount of time considering it’s been 3 years for the reader and 6 months for Merry and Leo. Merry and Leo have been these focal points in time of the book, when one moves the other reacts - they are more alike that even they would know. Their feelings for each other as brother and sister is captivating and emotional to say the least. Merry literally breaks the fragment in time and put the world into tremendous danger to bring her brother back, if that's not sacrificial, brave and courageous, I don't know what is.
The final battle was epic to say the least - It comes down to this book, this moment and it was magnificent. As story shapes up in The Witch's Kiss to the steady build up in The Witch's Tears, the final battle was everything a reader and the characters deserved. It reminds me of Charmed in the final episode where they brought together her past and present to save the future. In The Witch's Blood the final battle combines all of that defines the love, the unlikely friendships, and magical relations that have been discovered in this story. Kate and Liz create such vivid, intense and powerful descriptions, take this quote that I marked in this book, it just oozes realism and sends shivers down your spine.
"...the world from which Merry had just returned - was bulging through the fracture like blood oozing from a wound."
The Witch’s Kiss trilogy is right up there with Twilight and The Hunger Games. It’s a series that feeds on your fantasies, favourite fairy-tales, romance, realism and most of family! It’s addictive, joyous, compelling and one of my favourite series to date. I haven’t read a series like this in a long time. I’m sad it’s ended, but I’m excited by the prospect by how it’s ended too.
Rating - 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you to HarperCollins Children's Books for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
In my opinion, The Witch's Blood was the best installment of the series. I didn't want it to end. I look forward to more books by these authors
The finale in the trilogy, we catch up with Merry once again only this time she's setting about saving Leo her brother after Ronan takes him away with him. Merry is left with Finn and Jack to travel and await news of him and his whereabouts.
As Ronan plans to tie his life to Leo's, time is of the essence for Merry to find them and defeat The King Of Heart's and get them back to their normal modern day witch lives.
Merry and Meredith join forces through a surprising revelation over the two forms of Jack while Merry and Finn carry on with their beginning possible romance as travelling to save Leo bonds them more. Unfortunately there's also betrayal of trust, friendship's torn, shock deaths, mysterious black holly growing and just what has been killing people by the lake?
From visions and spell casting to surprising character returns, the finale ties up everything with shocking actions packed throughout.
The finale was good but a bit slow starting for me, I preferred the second half of the book but of course all the actions leading up to the stories conclusion were necessary. I was happy that they travelled back to their present day but not over certain characters finale's despite the initial uncertainty over characters whereabouts. Overall, I enjoyed the final book a lot and am glad to have read it.
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
The Witch’s Blood by Katharine and Elizabeth Corr is the final book in The Witch’s Kiss trilogy. For those readers who haven’t read The Witch’s Kiss and The Witch’s Tears then you need to read those first and you need to avoid this review because it does contain spoilers if you haven’t read them.
In The Witch’s Blood we see Merry question who exactly she is able to trust and we see her life beginning to fall to pieces.
Leo has been abducted and taken to an alternate reality by his boyfriend Ronan. When Leo first wakes up in the alternate reality he doesn’t remember what has happened to him previously but when he does he is horrified.
“Leo remembered now. The figure of the King of Hearts, emerging from the water. The unbearable, suffocating pain as it took control of his body. And then his sister.”
Ronan tries to justify himself to Leo by explaining that he is fed up of draining power from other witches to sustain his power and that is why he got the King of Hearts to bring them there, so he can use his power and that of the shadow realm.
Leo knows Merry will stop at nothing to get him back despite Ronan’s assurances that she will forget about him. As time goes on Leo starts to believe that Merry won’t be able to rescue him and he will be stuck with Ronan forever.
Merry, in the meanwhile, has to get her head around the fact that Jack is alive but no longer has any memory of their time together. Does she still have feelings for him or is Finn the one she wants?
On her journey to find Leo she meets her ancestor Meredith and her sisters Nia and Carys, with their help will she be able to stop Ronan and save Leo?
What lengths will she go to in order to save Leo and is she on the verge of losing control of her magic?
The Witch’s Blood was a great ending to the trilogy. The story was interesting throughout and the characters were well written.
The Witch’s Blood could be the next big young adult trilogy.
This trilogy and this final instalment is my favourite this year. I totally loved the concept and how it followed through the second book, Merry and Leo are two fantastic characters and I loved how it all tied in so well with the beginning. The writing is pure magic and the characters have to discover a lot more about themselves and the world around them in order to rest order into chaos. I really enjoyed the magic system and the fact that family was at the forefront unlike other YA novels. The relationship between Merry and Leo was magical and I really enjoyed reading a story centred around siblings rather than love interests!
Totally recommend it!
What an amazing book. I really enjoyed continuing this story and it is just as engaging as the first two. Brilliant
This was a great end to a very original and imaginative series. I loved the characters and I really enjoyed the use of Anglo Saxon in this trilogy - totally stroked my inner word nerd. These books definitely stand out in a market crowded with Twilight knock-offs. Highly recommend.
Great concluding book to the trilogy. Found it a bit too predictable at times but great nevertheless. Merry is such a great character and loved the dynamic of her and Finn’s relationship
The witch's blood by Katherine corr and Elizabeth corr.
Life as a teenage witch just got harder for Merry when her brother, Leo is captured and taken into an alternative reality by evil witch Ronan. Determined to get him back, Merry needs to use blood magic to outwit her arch-rival and get Leo back. Merry is more powerful than ever now, but she is also more dangerous and within the coven, loyalties are split on her use of the magic. In trying to save Leo, Merry will have to confront evil from her past and present and risk the lives of everyone she’s ever loved. Given the chaos she’s created, just what will she sacrifice to make things right?
A fantastic read. Loved the story. Merry was my favourite. Loved the ending too.5*.
I have received an ARC via NetGalley.
Although I enjoyed the first book in the series the last two books seemed a bit of a stretch, the first book seemed as though it was a standalone and these others seem as though they're stretching a story in a way it didn't need to be stretched. I did however enjoy the story and I'm glad it ended on a positive note.
