I loved this book and could not put it down. You have two strong women dealing with family issues in two different time periods. Caitlin is married to Patrick and has a close friend, Sara, but when tragedy strikes is Sara all that she seems. Thomasina is living through the cold winter of 1947 and trying to keep the family estate running. Each chapter alternates between the two women and both stories have you gripped from the first line.
Have read Lulu Taylor before and will definately read again!

This felt very slow the whole time. I found it hard to care for Tommy story but I do think I would of enjoyed it more if it was only Caitlyn story.

Definitely one to read and will keep you enthralled until the end.

I have read all of Lulu Taylor’s novels and this one didn’t disappoint. Lots of mystery and a good solid tale.

Two compelling tales of love, intrigue and the challenges of life. I could not put this book down until it was finished. Really enjoyed the roller coaster of emotions in both threads. Will now seek out other books written by this author.

What an excellent novel crossing two time zones. Full of anticipation and wonder as the characters and their relationships evolve. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a cleverly written tale of two women in separate time frames: 1940s post war England and the 21st century in the same area of the country. Caitlyn and Patrick have what would appear to be a perfect life. Happy marriage, nice house, young son. Post war England and Tommy is a widow living with family in a big house, struggling to keep their heads above water in times of strict rationing and hard work.
The similarities between the two women soon become clear when Patrick is killed in a car accident whilst on the phone to Caitlyn. Both have to dig deep to find inner strength they don't know whether they have. Both have to deal with secrets within their marriages - Tommy is aware of the secrets in her marriage and becoming a widow is a blessed relief to her, whereas Caitlyn only discovers the secrets within her marriage after Patrick's death and she is left to try and work out what was the truth and what people will do and say to try and tarnish her happy memories. They each find out that not everyone is out to support you, and sometimes those you have known longest are the ones who have the longest held grudges. There are some great characters in this novel, some are lovely - notably Fred Burton Brown, who is the most genuine man ever - and some are really unpleasant - Caitlyn's "friend" Sara.
I really wasn't sure how the two storylines would entwine and this is my only disappointment with the book. I felt it was a very weak connection and had hoped for something rather more exciting.
Overall a nice read, with the descriptions of the severe weather and hardships in 1947 really well described and a great story of trusting your gut instinct when it comes to sussing out people's intentions and personalities.

Oh, how I loved this book! I often find that books with a dual timeline narrative end up having one thread much stronger than the other. This has the effect of making you skim through parts of one story in your haste to get back to the other, but not so with My Frozen Heart. Both narratives and sets of characters were equally as strong, and I really enjoyed each as they very cleverly mirrored one another. in fact towards the end I'll confess my heart was beating rather fast as I prepared myself for the showdown I knew was coming. It did cross my mind that the author might be rather cruel and give us a tragic ending, but thankfully not! A very enjoyable, fast paced read that I would highly recommend.

I really enjoy Lulu Taylor's books and have read all of her work. I thought this book was really enjoyable. It was an easy read with a good plot with sone twists that I wasn't expecting. You went back to the late 40's to present day on every chapter seeing things from each of the 2 main characters and I raced through the book quickly as I wad keen to see how the story developed. The characters were interesting and I wanted to get to know them. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the chance to review this book.

Another excellent read. I like this author. It’s easy reading but also gripping. You’ll feel for the characters and you won’t want to end reading it.
Some very tender moments.

Being honest, I wasn't expecting much from this book and just wanted a light rea for a holiday. However, I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the two interwoven stories. The description of the immediate post war years was fascinating - we tend to assume that all was well after the cessation of hostilities, but not so. The intrigue of the link between the two stories kept me interested, as did the thoroughly likeable characters. Definitely one to recommend.

I was sent an early copy of this book for my independent honest review. Lulu Taylor is a firm favourite with me. This does not disappoint. It follows her usual style of split time narratives. Although this follows alternate chapters, you will find that it does not become confusing, however if this style annoys you then Lulu is perhaps not for you. However I feel you will miss out.
I loved the main female characters in both time periods and was totally invested in their situation. Very good plot lines for both. As usual the stories are effectively brought together to conclude the links between past and present.
The only reason this wasn't a 5* for me is the twist felt a little too far fetched and unbelievable in a real life situation for me.
I certainly need to go and buy this for my Lulu Taylor collection on my bookshelves

The idea of two stories running alongside was appealing. Unfortunately the realisation was a bit of a let down. The writing was stilted and the characters two dimensional. I became less interested as the stories unfolded.

This book has two stories running in parallel - one in 1940 and one present date - and the house that is the centre of both stories - Kings Harcourt. Both stories are of women with domineering husbands - both of who die. Both find new happiness but both have a scheming friend from the past bent on destroying their lives and happiness.
The story culminates in the two stories coming together. This is a lovely book to curl up with on a cold day

This book is narrated by Tommy who has lost a husband in the war. She shows determination in coping with the rations of the war and looking after the family home. In the present day, there is Sara who undermines the confidence of the heroine. She doesn't see this because she sees Sara as beautiful and is glad to have her as a friend. She returns to Oxford, after the death of her husband, Patrick and meets old flame Nicholas. He is a professor and tells a different event of the past then Sara told her. She realises Sara might not be the friend she thought she was. In the past Tommy has Barbara, a war widow come to stay with her. She realises the danger of Barbara. This book highlights how dangerous women can be to each other. There is a real sense of history and intrigue in the story and I loved reading the book. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

This book is a really strong 4. I really enjoyed this book. The two stories ar different periods of one are so cleverly written and the plot is interwoven really well. Tommy and Caitlyn have so much in common. Sometimes it can be so hard to see a person for who they really are. That is tackled brilliantly in this book. I was totally caught up in this book the whole way through. Trying to work out what is fact and what is fiction had me totally immersed in the book and its characters. I definitely recommend this book and I want to read more books by Lulu Taylor.

This book is beautifully written and very clever. The book centres around two women who husbands have tragically died. Separated by decades the women’s lives are similar in their troubles and fight to survive. The house plays an important part in the story and the characters all connect. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It left me wanting to know about the people and their lives

Totally loved this book couldn't put it down. There are two stories running at two different timelines about different characters which come together in the last few chapters of the book. This is a very enjoyable read and would highly recommend it.

A story of two widows one in the 1940’s and one present day. Two interesting stories but the way they are told in alternate chapters in very annoying. They are not really related so could easily be separate.
Very easy to guess how each story was going to unfold and it didn’t surprise. A well–written, pleasant read.

Not my usual read but a good story . There are two stories, one in the past and one present - which come together! A good read !
