At first this book felt like a similar story and then it became something completely different and kept me on the edge of my seat. Very much enjoyed this book as it evolved.

Lie to me by J.T. Ellison.
Sutton and Ethan Montclair seem like the perfect couple. But dark secrets hide behind closed doors. Then, one night, Sutton vanishes…
A brilliant read. Twisty and tense. Great story and characters. 5*.

Ethan wakes up and his wife is gone. He doesn't know what to do. Where's Sutton and is she alright is the question I turned pages to find out. While some parts may remind readers of other books there was plenty originality and new twists.

Thanks to Netgalley for this copy to review.

This book started off okay but then it seemed to me to just fall apart . Didn’t find it a good read

This book had so much potential. There's a lot going on and it's complicated. Who's the villain? Who's not? Lots of possibilities. Kept me curious. But then it was not nearly as clever or as well-plotted as Gone Girl. I like mysteries where it's possible to figure out if you pay very careful attention. This book, regardless of how closely you read it, you can't guess what's going to happen because no clues are dropped. Overall, this book is well-written and interesting and held my curiosity throughout. I just found the ending to be a bit too much and revealed too late.

Ethan, a famous literary author, is married to Sutton, an author of historical romance are the stars of the literary world. They are in all the magazines, in the newspaper, etc. and seem to be the perfect couple. One day, Ethen goes into his kitchen to find a note from Sutton that she was leaving and to not contact her. Did she leave on her own accord or did something else happen?

This was such a fun ride and I couldn't put it down. Even when I didn't like the characters so much, the story was just so good. Another great thriller by Ellison!

Lie to Me is a well plotted twisted pyschological thriller with the most unlikable characters since Gone Girl.

This is a domestic thriller, that bounces between 3 and 4 stars. When I first started to realize a bit of what was going on in this story, I thought, this is just like Gone Girl. Well, there are some similarities, but with the final twists and turns, truths coming out and the various story lines pulled together, it was no Gone Girl. There were some slow parts in the middle of the book, which dragged it down a bit, but the ending made up for this.

I listened to the audiobook of this one and at times, I had to go back and listen to something again. There were subtle pieces of information that I had to make sure I understood. The first half of the story is told from Ethan’s point of view, then the second half switches to Sutton’s perspective. While these two both had compelling stories and strong voices the addition of a third unknown narrator added something downright menacing to the story. This person speaks directly to the reader in a bitter, cruel voice that sent chills up my spine. The chapters were brief, I kept saying I will just listen to one more. I actually stayed up late into the night to finish this book. Most of the story is told in the present but there are times when it flips back to various times in Sutton and Ethan’s relationship that helped to shed light on how they came to be at the awful point they’re at today.

Sutton and Ethan are both writers who have had their ups and downs. Unfortunately, that is one os the things that caused their relationship to have difficulties. They were both competitive and jealous and Ethan did not think much of Sutton's type of book. When they were having difficulty in their marriage, Ethan decides that they should have a baby. Sutton did not want a child, but once he was born, she loved him very much. When he tragically dies from SIDS, she falls apart and ends up in a psychiatric hospital. When Sutton disappears, her friends accuse Ethan of doing something to her. Besides this, I am not going to give away anymore of the plot.

J.T. Ellison does a wonderful job of taking her readers for a ride. Just when you think you have something figured out, something happens to take you in a different direction. This was an entertaining, dramatic story. It is intelligently crafted and delivered twists and turns right up until the final pages. I am ready to pick up J.T. Ellison's newest book to go on another roller-coaster ride.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Lie to Me by J.T Ellison that I read and reviewed.
I had a really hard time getting into this book. I am huge fan of Allison's work but I just could not feel it with this book because for me it really dragged on.
I am giving Lie to Me three out of five stars.

With many twists and turns, the book becomes more confusing than engaging. It seems t jump from one rabbit hole to the next.

The book is slow to start and pick up the pace, however once it does find a pace, it the plot starts jumping, to the point I couldn't keep up.

An imaginative read that would be better with more patience and possibly a second read.

What a page turner! I was hooked from the start.
It was a bit scary and a bit sad, but you have to keep reading to find out what happens.
A couple who you think is so in love, who suffer loss and are dealing with grief and sorrow.
Each dealing with it in their own destructive ways.
The author is a great storyteller and this was so real, that I could see it happening to anyone.

First of all, thanks to NetGalley for the ARC ecopy for my Kindle.
I enjoy reading suspense and psychological thrillers with plot twist and turns that make me change my mind multiple times as to "who done it." But this story lost my attention about 3/4's of through the book. At that point, there were some weird and even creepy subplots and reveals.
And the language; why does a good or even a great author have to use so much profanity to tell a story. Such language is not necessary for a good story!

The writing was good, it was very intriguing, but the plot just went no where for me.

Seriously, where do I start with this book. This book had more twits than a Twizzler! I LOVE IT!! Bonus points that it takes place in my home state of Tennessee and Franklin is my favorite place to visit! Back to the book. :) I think I loved and hated each and every character in this book at different times. I don't want to give anything away but basically this book is about how well do you REALLY know someone or THINK you know someone. I give this one a BIG 5 STARS!! Thanks to Netgally and the publisher for allowing me to read and advanced copy for my honest review.

This is another perfectly adequate mystery, though I wouldn't personally describe it as a thriller. Unfortunately there is really nothing new in this story, which has been overdone so much of late.

This was Gone Girl-esque, and while it was an ok read, it didn't deliver a punch quite like Gone Girl or other similar thrillers. The facts/lies weren't confirmed or denied so even at the end of the book I was left confused at the "truth". There is some stellar descriptive writing, but that couldn't make up for the flat and kind of confusing ending, and a "villain" who ended up being pretty lame. It just wasn't fully developed enough for me.

Oh my god from the very first opening page I was hooked and it didn’t let up!....so Ethan comes home to find his wife Sutton missing yet she’s taken nothing with her and only left a note saying she’s gone!

The police start to think Ethan is to blame and begin looking close to home, the book is totally full of lies and half truths and twists and turns. Nothing is what it seems. Both Ethan and Sutton are highly unlikeable people and both hold their own secrets,

It’s a pretty screwed up marriage that’s for sure and the more you read the more you see why! The twist well was a twist and a half and it hit me right between the eyes. I totally loved this book and cannot wait to read more from the author so hurry up and write another one!!!!

This is my second J.T. Ellison novel and it was another solid story. It was a psychological thriller that I would rank as average among other books in the same category. Some parts of the story were confusing and forced me to suspend belief at certain points along the way which is not a favorite book trait for me. What I love about psychological thrillers is the ability to twist a scenario to make it crazy, but believable. Sutton and Ethan were both characters that weren't likeable or reliable so I can't say I was really cheering anyone on. It was enjoyable for what it was, but can't say I would highly recommend this book to others.
