This was the first Alastair Gunn that I have read. I loved the two main characters as well as their history with each other. Towards the middle of the book I started having my suspicions regarding the killer and who his next target was. This is a great start to a new series and I look forward to reading more of Alastair Gunn in the future.
I would recommend this book if you are into Detective novels.

Fairly average detective thriller, I guessed who the murderer was long before the end

This is an enjoyable book with characters such as Antonia Hawkins , Mike Maguire and John Barclay portrayed as everyday people as well as busy Metropolitan Police officers.. The storyline takes you through several murders and keeps you guessing who the killer is with all the twists and turns. A rollercoaster of a read and looking forward to the next book.

This is the first book I have read in the Antonia Hawkins series by Alastair Gunn and it won't be the last. I love a good crime thriller with characters I can get behind. Great read!

Pulled in right from the first chapter I was unable to put the book down. Halfway through the story I became really annoyed with Antonia Hawkins. Maybe it is this hard to be a female DCI, but she trusted nobody and thought about nothing and nobody but herself. Ugh! But even so I really enjoyed reading the first book about DCI Hawkins.’Til the end I was not 100% sure who the killer was and when he was revealed, the real horror had just started for DCI Hawkins. Solid start to a new, well written and thrilling crime series. Recommended! I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin UK!
