I really loved this one - it is domestic noir with a properly defined little wow moment that actually caught me by surprise. Clever without a doubt and this is what I mean when I talk about the proper literary twist rather than just a plot development...
ANYWAY that aside, The Wife Between Us is a tense and often claustrophobic psychological thriller, beautifully written by the author collaborative team of Hendricks and Pekkanen - with all the cleverly timed surprises you could wish for, a really engaging and addictive story and some well defined, often divisive but endlessly fascinating characters.
One wife that was, one wife to be - it's easy to assume things but also to read between the lines if you look hard enough - the prize, a good looking, rich and caring man - the competition is in the eyes of the beholders and not everything is exactly as it appears.
The tale fairly rocks along, there are some thought provoking and downright scary themes explored within the narrative and it's one of those honest to God page turners that keeps you up at night desperately trying to stop your eyes from closing before you've read just one more chapter.
It is a popular theme in genre fiction at the moment, you know the Gone Girl effect - but this is that done extraordinarily well with enough differences about it to make an impact - intelligent plotting, wonderful writing and an ending that may well surprise you just when you thought you were done with it.
Overall a genuinely intriguing and very immersive read.

This is such a good book, will keep you guessing until the end, with twists and a chilling plot, centred around marriage, jealousy and the complexity of relationships. The characters are those you can relate to and have their own secrets and lies. A suspense that will have you hooked. Highly recommend you buy this book and I look forward to reading more books by these authors.
