This was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it. thanks for letting me have an advance copy. I'm new to this author.
A great insight into living with mental health issues- and approached without details being spared or sugar coated.
A well written book on mental illness. With an open, and honest look at bipolar.
I have relatives that suffer from bipolar disorder and that made me want to read this book. Very informative and well written. I want to thank the author for writing about her dealings with this illness. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
As a mental health professional, books about mental health, and memoirs such as these, are exactly my bag. Anything that can help me to learn more about those suffering from mental ill health and gain greater insight into their troubles are invaluable resources to me. Which is why I felt very confused to finish this book thinking: 'What on earth was that I just read?!' Honestly, I have no idea how to make sense of it. Flitting between various years (oftentimes jumping several years at once) with no indication as to why the sudden switch, flitting between topics with no real order; I guess this could be the author's reflection of her jumbled thoughts amongst her bipolar diagnosis, but to read it was a struggle. It didn't provide me with empathy or compassion for the author, it just left me wishing that she had organised her writings in a way that was easier to read, perhaps with sub-headings or a more linear fashion. It was a very short read so was easy to get through in that sense, but as a memoir I didn't feel I gained anything from it, and even by the end I was still pretty mystified as to where Katie was at with her life.
