never watched the series but loved this book. Cant wait for more. I just feel like it transported me back in time with every turn of the page. The lifes and struggles of the characters and not forgetting the strength. Historical fiction at its finest and would highly recommend.

What I enjoyed thoroughly about this book is the glimpse back in to history, the retelling of events and the descriptive language that make you think what it really like on the home front as we follow the familiar characters in the village we have come to love.
I am looking forward to the next book to see the developments within the story.
A book I would recommend and certainly to any fans of the tv series.

I was so disappointed when the tv series came to a end but was delighted to find this book is a sequel to the series. I really enjoyed this book.

All of the familiar characters were back and the book began where the tv series had ended. It was an opportunity to catch up myself with some ‘old friends’ and see how they were getting on. Wonderfully written, great descriptions and fantastic characters.

Highly recommended, I can't wait for the next instalment.

I watched the TV series of this and was gutted when the program was cancelled especially at such a cliffhanger. The book carry’s on from the end of series so I eventually found out what happened. If you love wartime sagas even if you’ve never watched the TV program you will absolutely love this book. A great read that I highly recommend. Thank you for allowing us to know how the people of Great Paxford continued after the spitfire crash.

I love any historical fiction book. This one is another of my favourites - one I will read again at some point. The author is a really good writer.

I had no idea that this book was a continuation of a television series, I found it a little bit slow but overall a good nostalgic look back to the war years

It was not until I was a short way into this book that i realized the storyline and characters seemed familiar and then remembered watching a tv series of the same name.. I have to say I absolutely loved both the tv series and this book and cannot understand why there are to be no more episodes. I hope there are going to be further books following the lives of the villagers to the end of the war and beyond. Thanks to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this superbly written book.
