*Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* 'Broken Bones' was a highly engaging and gripping crime novel, as we have come to expect from Angela Marsons. It is number 7 in the DI Stones series and reveals a little bit more about Kim's background and childhood. The novel focusses on the murder of a young woman, as well as the abandonment of a baby. The book deals with he difficult issues of dysfunctional families, drug abuse, prostitution and immigration. The storyline is fast-paced and enjoyable.
Detective Kim Stone and her team are investigating two cases simultaneously , an abandoned baby and a murder of a prostitute.Soon like all her cases complications arise with more prostitutes found murdered violently and the case of the abandoned baby leads Dawson and Stacey to a factory of Romanian workers which seems more like a modern slavery ring.
This is another brilliant ,gripping thriller by Angela Marsons delving into a horrific world of human exploitation. She keeps us guessing throughout the book with twists and turns and a chilling suspense in the end I didn't see coming,A must read psychological series which I highly recommend.
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Angela Marsons is back with another fantastic novel. When Kim and her team deal with two separate cases- one of a serial killer violently murdering prostitutes and another of an abandoned baby the two investigations bring about a world of explotation and cruelty.
Throughout the whole series of books I have loved the characters if Kim and all of the team, they have always felt very realistic and Marson's has developed them over time. Marson's novels always grip my attention and I never want to put one down once I start!
I would definitely recommend this to anybody who enjoys a good thriller or crime novel
An easy 4 and a half stars!
Another really good read from Angela Marsons. DI Kim Stone returns and is as likeable as ever, as are the rest of the team.
This one, as usual, has a bite to it and it can be uncomfortable in places but that only helps to build tension as you career towards a twisty ending that still manages to make you jump.
Love Angela Marson’s books! I can’t put them down once I start, and this one was no different! Lots of twists and turns and a great storyline!
This book has been out for more than a month now and despite my excitement about a new Kim Stone book, I held off on reading it as soon as I got my hands on it. I know that sounds weird, especially since this is one of my favorite series, but I knew as soon as I finished I would be desperate for the next book anyway so I decided to show some restraint for once in my life. My patience paid off because I ended up having the opportunity to listen to the audio version and it was outstanding, it definitely enhanced my experience, I absolutely loved it.
I think everyone has heard me rave about this series and Marsons talent as a writer several times before, so I’ll try and spare you and won’t repeat myself too much and just say that these books honestly just get better, sharper, and darker in each installment and are always intricately plotted and shocking.
Two things make this series standout among a hundred other police procedurals for me. First, Marsons always seems to have her finger on the pulse of society and addresses current issues in a compassionate and educational way while still managing to be exciting and fresh. This time Kim and team are dealing with immigration issues, prostitution and even slavery. Using extremely important issues in her novels lends an authenticity that is unmatched, it serves to bring a human connection to an otherwise grim plot. Secondly, she keeps her characters constantly evolving, she reveals new things about their pasts and who they are in each book and oftentimes surprises me with said revelations, which is difficult to do.
Cramer is the perfect narrator for this one, her voice is soothing and so easy to listen to. I know many people say that their mind wanders anytime they try and listen to an audiobook and my attention never strayed throughout this for a minute. Between Marsons riveting story and Cramer’s fluid voice I was utterly absorbed. It doesn’t hurt that I could listen to an English accent all day long either, but seriously read this book. Even better, listen to this book, I don’t think you’ll regret it.
Book six was a slight departure from others in the series and one of the best., Book seven does not follow on or build on what we leant from book six, which is a bit of a shame, as this new direction worked well. Book seven sees Kim back with her team trying to solve another nasty crime with all the normal twists & turns we come to expect from such a great storytelling author. The writing style is easy to follow without too many characters or plot jumps. Not wishing to give the plot away, I did find the adduction and the victims intended fate a little too unconfutable to read. Murders and shootings are a bit more palatable!
Angela Marsons is one of the brightest talents to enter the mystery game in a long time. Her books draw you in, make you love and hate characters but always get you invested in tee story.
I have been following Kim Ston through the past seven books, and I will continue to as long as Angela Marsons writes them. That being said, this book felt a little formulaic, and though it wasn't predictable, I felt it was not as strong as the previous ones. That being said, in a series with as many books as this one has there is bound to be a book I didn't like as much as the others. Still looking forward to Marsons next one!
Thank you to Net Galley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons for an ARC copy for an honest review.
So firstly let me honestly say although a four star book, this is the weakest book in all the series.
Lots of the previous books I have read and given the books a clear four of five stars.
Angela saves this book with a great last third part.
Yes, so why still four star ?
The excitement of the last part, the splitting of the team giving DS Kevin Dawson and DC Stacey partnered on a different assignment, a great teaming of Kevin and Stacey.
The love of the inter-actions and dialogue between Bryant and Kim, Bryant is a perfect character against Kim wild, outspoken and tough character.
On the same night that an abandoned baby shows up on the steps of the police precinct, a young prostitute is found murdered!
The weakness was the first part of the book, a little slow to build up, a lot of characters, sometimes a little confusing.
Sub plots include a serial killer knocking off prostitutes, human profiteering, an abandoned baby, and yet another murder, really two stories which I found hard to keep the tensions and pace in both plots.
Yes a gritty story and Angela never shy's away from some tough and serious stories, I do admire for this and you just cannot dislike Kim Stone.
Just needed more real tension and gripping pace and action.
Saying that I will always read a new Angela Marsons book
Angela Marsons back to her brilliant best.
I have to admit to not really have enjoyed the previous Kim Stone novel so I was a bit apprehensive about this one – but I needn’t have been! I really couldn’t put this one down, as the various threads unwound. Prostitute murders, an abandoned baby and human profiteering come together in this rollercoaster of a thriller, including a surprise tie back to Kim’s own past.
We see Kim’s character develop further but also see more glimpses and development of the members of her team – Bryant, Stacey and Dawson.
A great read – can’t wait for the next one.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for a review copy.
I found this to be good, not as good as some of the books from the beginning of the series,
Thanks again Netgalley and Bookouture. FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT, need I go on?? Number 7 in the Kim Stone series. And Angela Marsons has excelled.....again!!! True to Angela form I was gripped right from the first page and suffered my usual sleepless nights because I couldnt put it down!! Cant recommend it highly enough!!
This book is brill. Loved every minute. Couldn't wait for it to come out just sat and read. Love the story the characters all so real. Love it being set in the area I live in as it feels real around here
While I enjoyed this latest DI Kim Stone book I really think that Angela Marsons needs to take more chances with her characters. Kim Stone remains virtually the same since book one with no private life to speak of. Marsons has found a formula that works but as this is book 7 she needs to the reader on their toes!
So, Angela Marsons does it again! I can’t get enough of Kim Stone, and Broken Bones didn’t let the series down. Action packed and enough twists and turns that I had no clue how it would end. Exactly what you want in a crime thriller.

It doesn't take long for more sex workers to be found Murdered in quick succession. Each murder more gruesome than the next.
As this is happening they are searching for the Mother who left her Infant at the station, but is it abandonment or something more serious?
Soon the detectives find themselves looking into the dark world of sex slavery.
Will they find the young Mother in time or is it to late?
I give Broken Bones Four Out of five stars!
