A steamy romance with great characters.
Ideal for a holiday read.
This is Libby's story and how she meets Alex at a seminar in London and their instant attraction to each other. However, Libby has been emotionally closed for the last 3 years so she is just up for some fun, no string attached.
I really enjoyed the story and I liked that the feminine character knew what she wanted at all times and wasn't ashamed of it and of pursuing it.
I would have liked that the intensity of the relationship wasn't as strong so quickly but the book has been enjoyable. I also missed the fact that we know because of Libby that he is a very well known playboy but we don't see any sign of it thorough the book.
Overall a good steamy story.
After losing her fiance. Libby has stopped living, all she does is work. While on a business trip to London Libby meets Alex, the attraction is intense for both. Libby tries to fight it, but Alex wont go away. Alex is a billionaire who wants to do good with his money. He lost his sister when he was younger. In honour of her he wants to set up a charity to help out kids with disabilities. He likes what Libby did with a charity in the USA. He wants the best for his and that's her. He also wouldn't mind in indulging in a little fun while she is here. This is one steamy book ,you might want to take a cold shower afterwards. I thought the author gave away just enough backstory for each character. So you could understand them. Recommended for fans of steamy romance.
If you like very sexy men, then this book is for you. Libby has sworn off relationships and Alex is just the man to make her break her rules! Will Alex win in the end? Read it and see!
Not really my kind of style book but ok for a Mills and Boon
Wow! I've not read a Mills & Boons book in years. What a great way to get drawn back!
Libby has a very successful PR business in the States. Alex is a multi-millionaire needing help with PR for the charity he set up in memory of is sister. Libby has sworn off men and Alex is totally smitten and being the daredevil he is, convinces Libby to give him two weeks to change her mind.
A well written and highly addictive read. Definitely worth recommending!
Love the new dare series. Hot stuff! Emotional, sexy, hot, with humour.
A week to be wild by jc harroway.
Olivia noble is head of her own marketing business in new york. She has come to london to speak. She sees alex lancaster and her tummy does flips. Does he feel the same? Will they get together?
A very enjoyable read. Steamy. I liked how libby and alex were together. 4*.
This is a scorchingly hot and steamy, contemporary corporate romance, one of the first to be released under the Dare branding by Mills and Boon. It features successful marketing guru Libby Noble who is honoured to be invited to speak at a prestigious conference but is wary of some of the men she is introduced to there. She’s been hurt before and is determined never to let someone close enough to enable her to be so devastated again.
Alex Lancaster is a billionaire who is endeavouring to set up a charity that means a lot to him in memory of his sister. He wants Libby to participate in the launch of this charity but when the two meet, the chemistry isn’t just volatile it is totally explosive! Can they risk romance for her short stay in England? What will happen when she returns to her home in America? They just have a week to be wild. . . .
This is a story of cracking through the facades people show to the world to get access to their heart and their true selves. It is a steamy read with a heart warming plot which deals with some real issues and really does ‘push the boundaries of sexual explicitness while keeping the focus on the developing romantic relationship’.
I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.
A steamy romance from JC Harroway that is part of the new Dare range,
When good looking billionaire Alex sees Libby across a crowded bar he knows that he wants to get to know her better. Libby is in London from New York and is only in town for a couple of days for her meeting but agrees to stay in London for a week to do some work for one of Alex's charities. This is the start of a wild romance that leaves them both experiencing strong feelings for each other.
Alex is an adrenaline junkie and wants Libby to experience some of the adventures that the people from his charity would be experiencing. Libby has big reservations about getting too close to this man who is wild and also lives so far away.
I enjoyed the book and it was very light and frothy with some very erotic sex scenes. Great to read on holiday and looking forward to reading some other stories from this new bold Mills & Boon range.
This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own
Not my thing. Every now and then I come back around for another go at the billionaire-y trope and very few of them work for me. This is not actively bad, I just like my heroines to be less drippy and wrapped up in who they fancy to the detriment of their professionalism. Oof. Disappointing.
So were do i start? Ive had to had a cold shower to cool down from this sizzling read, and its been a long time since ive read anything like this, and it was just what i was searching for. A week to be wild follows Libby who has left her home town and travelled across the world to speak at a conference and when she meets Alex Lancaster a billionaire who hand picked Libby to visit, he makes it quite clear he wants her.
However, Libby shocked by her reaction to him (both personal and professional) and if shes going to play then its be her rules, one week. However, Alex wants to push her limits - both inside and outside the bedroom, but can Libby give as good as she gets?
A week to be wild is a fantastic short read, thats long enough for their to be some narrative between the action, but short enough that it doesnt feel false. I was worried it would be one long sex scene but in reality it was so much more. The characters were not only likeable & had me weak at the knees (Alex - to clairfy) but were flawed. That made them much more real to me.
This is a fantastic new launch for Mills&Boon and im sure with the series there will be something for everyone, or if not - well its more for me to read then isnt it!
Its a sizzling 4* from me!
Libby was a successful business woman in New York. Alex a successful businessman in London. Their paths were about to cross but they had more then business in common. Both had been hurt in different ways, they had both lost loved ones. Libby lost her fiancé Callum and Alex his sister Jenny. Could their week spent together help more then just their business's.
Hot steamy romance just right to warm you up on cold winter nights.
Boy meets girl and girl meets boy. The attraction is immediate but the girl is not interested she has been hurt before but she didn't realise that the boy is a billionaire and do whatever it takes to win her over.
A great read slightly erotic in parts but inoffensive.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book.
The book is a new “steamy” Mills & Boon. It still reads like a Mills & Boon - the only difference being it’s more graphic in the raunchy parts than the old M&B books but nothing out of the ordinary like some books.
Predictable story about two troubled souls coming together (one being a billionaire - obviously). He lives in London, she lives in New York and they meet at a business meeting to discuss his charity ideas where he offers her a job.
They agree that she will stay in London for a week following the meeting so he can show her how his charity works and his ideas for its future. Obviously there’s a chemistry between them......
It’s an easy read - not sure why they suggest it’s a perfect for fans of “Darker” as it’s nothing like that apart from a helicopter scene and a chemistry between the main characters.
I’d rate this book 3.5 stars but had to round it up on here to a 4 as you cant award a 0.5.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this book! The story was well-written with an interesting plotline and characters whose tragic pasts that don't veer into melodrama (as so commonly happens). I loved that right from the start Libby was presented as a smart, sassy, strong businesswoman - she's funny and kind, and doesn't give Alex an inch just because he's rich, powerful and ridiculously good-looking.
There were some really steamy scenes throughout the story and the sexual chemistry between Alex and Libby practically leapt off the page. Libby is no shrinking violet when it comes to getting what she wants, which felt very refreshing for a Mills & Boon book!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A book of two halves
3 stars
I was so excited when I saw that Mills & Boon were releasing a new line of books. Perhaps this would fill the hole that the recently defunct Blaze line created for me. Man, I loved those books of sexy, successful men and feisty, strong, take charge women. Looking back, I think that my excitement - and subsequently high expectations - were never going to be lived up to.
The book started off well. The writing style of J.C. Harroway flowed well, was fresh and really kept my interest and the pages turning.
Alex was a British billionaire who was also a little bit of a daredevil. But he had a heart of gold and it was just as easy for me to fall for him as it was for Libby. He was also never written as a stereotypical Englishman which pleased me no end. No ‘jolly good old chap’ for this hero. Can’t really say the same for - och, was it the wee Scottish assistant? - but he was barely there so I glossed over that part.
I also liked Libby (although I’m pretty sure Libby is a derivation of Elizabeth - not Olivia). I liked her sassiness, understood her motivations but…then her damned internal monologue just wouldn’t quit.
I have a very dirty mind and I do enjoy my filth - but even I was getting frustrated with Libby and her constant forays into sexual fantasies about Alex. How on earth had this girl managed to build a successful business when she couldn’t keep her mind off what she wanted to do to Alex - or what she wanted him to do to her? Her thoughts seemed more befitting a 12 year old boy and I felt a little dirty reading it and not in a good way.
About 50% of the book was build-up to the initial sex scene rather than a chance to get to know our main characters. I like a bit of sexual tension but half the book? That’s overkill and I got seriously bored.
And then came the second half of the book.
The story picked up. Alex and Libby really got into their relationship and their little games of oneupmanship - excitement inside and outside the bedroom. The pair had banter and you really started to believe in them and feel for them as a couple. They opened up to each other (and the reader) more and you got to understand their back stories, their quirks, their hangups and their baggage. And the sex was pretty darn sexy, too! Finally!
The ending, and happily ever after, was nicely done and it made me smile. It felt real and I liked the way that Libby acted and reacted to the whole situation. If she’d been the girl she was in the latter half of the book, during that first half, this would have been a 5 star book without a shadow of a doubt.
This was definitely a book of two halves for me. I would still recommend it if you like your billionaire romances, are a fan of Mills & Boon or are just looking to pass the time on a rainy afternoon. I’ll keep my eye out for the next from the Dare line as this book did show promise and I’m still hoping that this will be my new favourite line to make me forget all about Blaze. 3 stars.
A refreshing new take on the 'battle of the sexes'.
English billionaire Alex, who likes risks and getting what he wants, engineers a face to face meeting with a successful New Yorker Libby. There is an instant sizzle, but can they work together? Or will the barely held in check passion make keeping it professional impossible?
The plot is simple. Physical attraction and gratification dominate the story but accompanied by growing emotional attachment and a lowering of barriers between Alex and Libby. Physical closeness makes sharing their past tragedy and guilt possible and helps them both believe that love may be worth the potential for pain if it all ends badly again.
The characters are likeable if a little unrealistic. The conflict is primarily internal, but Libby's emotional battle keeps the reader wondering whether she is capable of letting love into her life again.
Fast-paced, the characters aren't memorable, but I don't think this is the role of this type. The perfect story for escapism, passion and a happy ever.
I received a copy of this book from Mills & Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I liked this book, the character development was interesting and the story flowed well.
Hello Mr Lancaster.
“What do you want?” is the question often asked as sparks fly from the off when British businessman Alex Lancaster meets New York marketing executive Libby Noble at a conference, and what follows is a passionate, whirlwind romance perfect for fans of the Fifty Shades and Crossfire novels.
J C Harroway has created well written, likeable characters who can’t deny their attraction to one another, and the good news is that Libby is a strong, feisty woman who gives as good as she gets, and can stand up to Alex in her demands for how to act on their intense attraction to one another. This is no one sided affair, but a mutual decision to take advantage of their meeting.
Alas, Libby is only visiting London, so Alex needs to take advantage of their sizzling chemistry quickly, and a highly charged romance is inevitable following a meeting in a hotel bar after the conference, but it’s Libby who takes the lead in what follows as she invites Alex to her hotel room.
Passionate and daring in it’s writing, we follow Alex and Libby as they embark on a heady, sizzling affair with no strings attached, just giving into their passion for each other. The bedroom scenes are fairly explicit, but there is also a sense of a genuine chance of a long term relationship here - there is a good plot basis, and it’s not all about the sex (although Alex and Libby’s initial meeting merely seems a prelude to one of them inviting the other to their room). Indeed, it helps that Alex and Libby’s back stories are told, and the reader can understand why the two of them are like they are, and their fears and mistrust of a long term future with each other.
A well written, escapist, romantic read. I look forward to reading more of J C Harroway’s writing in the future. Mills and Boon describe the Dare series as ‘sexy, passionate, and bold’, and the book is most certainly all three.
Thanks to M&B for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
