After being betrayed by the two most important people in her life, Amy begins to rebuild her life, getting a bit of revenge along the way.
A very enjoyable, feisty revenge rom-com about friends and frenemies that isn't too heavy on the rom.

Two “best” friends, Amy and Melissa, (although you wouldn’t think so after reading this!) vying with each other, taking revenge, tit for tat. Amy back from her acting job in the States for a surprise visit is the one who gets the surprise when she discovers that someone has moved in with her fiancé. All hell is let loose when the culprit is revealed. Loved it even though wouldn’t have thought that at their age they wouldn’t have been so childish - a bit more sophistication is needed I think! True colours were definitely shown by these childhood friends and they weren’t very pleasant. Two viewpoints and flashes back in time tell this tale which was riveting and comical in turns. I would love to see a return bout! This is a perfect book to put in your suitcase, ready for the beach or pool.

I think the synopsis for this book gives away a good part of the story. This book is about revenge, while maybe well deserved on the cheating boyfriend and best friend it probably goes too far.
I always enjoy Jane Fallon's books and although I wanted Amy to just get on with her life instead of ripping her ex boyfriend's apart it did make for a good read. I think the story shows that the best revenge on anyone is to show them you have made a good life for yourself and are happy.
I don't want to give away any more of the story than above as it would spoil your enjoyment. A good read!

I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times, I absolutely love all of Jane Fallon’s books, she’s probably my favourite author and her stories never disappoint! Faking Friends is no exception to this. To be honest if somebody gave me this book without telling me who it was by I could guess Jane Fallon after just the first chapter. Her writing style is so naturally faultless I always feel like I’m right there in the world of the protagonist, that’s what I love so much!
Faking Friends, similar to most of Fallon’s novels, was a mix of intrigue, funny, sadness and heartbreak. It was a perfect easy read, as I started it the same week I started a new job so it was a good one to pick up for a few minutes before having to stop, not that I ever wanted to put it back down! I could have devoured in one go.
The way she shapes her characters makes the book addictive from start to finish. I completely fell in love with Amy, I was rooting for her in every aspect – getting over her crappy boyfriend Jack, walking away/getting revenge on Mel and landing another acting job so she could earn money again and be independent. So naturally I was over the moon with the ending and how everything turned out for her!
I think an important message from this book is that people never change, if you keep letting the crappy people back in your life you’re only going to be disappointed over and over again.

Thank you to Netgalley and Michael Joseph for the advanced reading copy.
Jane Fallon is fast becoming a favourite author of mine; she writes with humour and warmth with an underlying layer of grit which can make you feel quite uncomfortable. See my earlier reviews of My Sweet Revenge and Strictly Between Us.
Faking Friends is a tale of betrayal, revenge and toxic friendships. When trust is smashed to pieces, how do we cope with it? Do we crumble, beaten into submission? Or do we quietly scheme to destroy those who would purport to destroy our lives?
Of course Amy does not allow herself to be a meek victim. She is, like all of Fallon's characters, feisty and determined.
Fallon has the knack of showing both sides of the story. The heroine is never perfect, and it is refreshing to see the other person's version of events, and sometimes there is no distinguishing between the hero or the villain - they can be just as bad as each other. And the plot isn't simple or obvious - with each new chapter comes another revelation, entangling the reader in the glorious web of lies and deceit.
Sickly sweet this book is not; it's punchy and gritty and ooh, how I loved it!

Fabulous read, I really enjoyed it and want to read more by this author. Very well written.

This is not a genre that I normally read, but I enjoyed it and made me realise its time to read things I would expect to read normally. The book was a little predictable. But it did have some twists and turns. Recommended

This is a great book that is a real page Turner. Who needs enemies with friends like Mel. No one deserves a so called friend like her. Great book!

Really enjoyed this book, made me think about would I find the betrayal of my husband more devastating than the betrayal of my best friend. Probably my best friend!! Love Jane's books, cannot wait for the next one

This is a cracker of a book, great to curl up with on a cold winter’s night. You can feel nothing but sympathy and admiration for the main character whilst admiring her ingenuity and determination. Great read.

Never disappointed with a Jane Fallon book, couldn’t put it down.
Gritty chick lit, clever story. Highly recommend.

Easy holiday read. Clever twist in the middle and the author didn't leave everything "Happily ever after"

Read this over Christmas and couldn’t put it down. It’s got lots of twists and turns and the main character is likeable and believable. It’s a different kind of story but has a real feel good factor to it. I look forward to Jan3 Fallons next offering!

This book will have you laughing and crying. Meet Amy, best friends with Mel and engaged to Jack, living life and having her dream job, until she unexpectedly returns home to find another women’s clothes in her bedroom and toiletries in the bathroom. A brilliant story of friendship and betrayal.

Another great read by Jane Fallon. I've loved all of her books and Faking Friends certainly didn't disappoint. There's a point in your life when you find out who your real friends are. Amy has known Mel most of her life but was she ever a 'real' friend? The story covers betrayal, revenge, back-stabbing and true friendships. I loved the many twists and turns and I really liked the characters. This book has me hooked from the beginning and I thoroughly recommend.

Loved this book, excellently written, fabulous characters, intrigue and revenge. It has it all. Would highly recommend , perfect for cold winter evenings or weekends in front of the fire.

This is the first Jane Fallon book that I have read and I really enjoyed it. I got into the book really quickly and was really routing for Amy right from the beginning. This book is mostly about a toxic friendship and the damage it can do to your life. Just because you have been friends for a long time doesn't always mean that you should continue with that friendship and once they've damaged your friendship one too many times, it is time to it let go. I'll definitely be reading more Jane Fallon books in the future.

Surprisingly I was hooked from the start, this book had believable characters and just enough suspect and intriguing to keep me wanting more, finished in a couple of days. Well done!

Very addictive reading - I was gripped and liked that it didn't all play out as I might have predicted. Interesting characters and a fantastic premise. The first Jane Fallon I've read and would definitely read more.

I haven’t read a book by Jane Fallon for a couple of years now for one reason and another, so when I was asked if I would like to take part in the blog tour for her new book ‘Faking Friends’, I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to reacquaint myself with her work. I am so glad that I did as this book was a fantastic and addictive read but more about that in a bit.
I took to Amy moreorless from the start. She is a really nice lady, who has a job that she loves and a fiancé at home. Amy is an actress with a part in a US programme, although she is soon to be jobless as her part has been axed from the show. Whilst she is away in the US, her boyfriend is patiently waiting for her back home…..or so she thinks. Amy seems to be one of those women that is initially shy and she is not used to being the centre of attention, quite happily letting others take the lead so to speak. This is particularly true of her friendship with Mel, who seems to be an attention seeker. I began to see Amy as a friend of mine and so of course I was mentally cheering her on when she finds out that her boyfriend is actually having an affair with Mel and Amy decides on a plan of revenge. Amy discovers this by accident thanks to an impromptu visit home, where she discovers another woman’s possessions in her flat, later confirmed as belonging to Mel. I felt my heart aching for Amy when her world seemingly collapses and she has to carve out a new life for herself from scratch. There were times that I literally wanted to jump into the pages of the book to give Amy a hug. Amy hits on the idea of getting her revenge on Mel and Jack, which I had to say that I agreed with, I found funny and if I could have, I would have jumped in to give Amy a hand. As for Mel on the other hand……where do I start? As I alluded to at above, Mel seems to be an attention seeker, who needs all eyes to be on her when she enters the room. Mel is rather selfish and her only priority seems to be her herself. She hates anybody else to have the limelight. I also think that she is somewhat jealous of Amy because Amy has the career that Mel thinks that she should have and that she is entitled to and Amy has the steady boyfriend/ fiancé that Mel feels is missing from her life. I really felt as though I could have again jumped into the pages of the book but instead of hugging Amy, it would be to poke Mel’s eyes out and slap her with a wet fish for being so downright inconsiderate and only thinking of numero uno all the time. She doesn’t seem to have been a true friend to Amy and their friendship has seemed rather one sided.
I picked up this book at an ideal time for me. I was feeling low, my back was aching and the weather was cold and damp, so as you can imagine I needed cheering up. This book did exactly that and then some. I had to laugh out loud at some parts of the book, which got me some strange looks from others and particularly from my two diva Labradors. I was enjoying the book so much that I didn’t realise how quickly the time was passing and before I knew it, a few hours had gone past and I had read a fair chunk of the book. I honestly did not notice how quickly the page numbers had been flying past. I also made the mistake of reading this book before I went to bed but it was such a page turner and so addictive that I didn’t want to put the book down. (Anyway who needs sleep? Sleep is for wimps.) The author’s writing style is such that I was literally addicted to this book from the very first word on the very first page and the book had me under its spell all the way through to the very last word on the very last page. I was so disappointed to finish the book as I was enjoying the writing style and the story so much that I just wanted the book to continue. I really felt as though I had been on a rollercoaster ride and through the emotional wringer after I had finished reading this book- with all the highs, the lows, the twists and turns and all those moments when I wanted to be Amy’s cheerleader and defender.
In short, I really did love this tale of female friendship and what happens when it goes wrong. I would definitely recommend this author to others. I can’t wait to see what comes next but in the meantime, I am off to look for Jane Fallon’s other books and make reading them one of my top reading priorities. I can honestly say that reading a book by Jane Fallon does more to improve your mental health than any medication can/ could. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved and easy 5* out of 5*.
