A good 'who's-doing-it' thriller that did keep me guessing until the identity was revealed. I wasn't entirely convinced on the ending (but don't want to put a spoiler here with details) and I wasn't entirely caught up with the main characters, Fenton and Blake, who didn't seem fully developed to me to get me rooting for them (seemingly in contrast to the other reviews on here!).
However, I enjoyed the ride and was entirely satisfied overall. A worthwhile read for sure. Thank you for the preview opportunity.

A fantastic thriller that keeps you guessing throughout, I think my suspect list included just about every character!

This book was so gripping that I struggled to put it down! There were two big twists which made me gasp out loud, which for me means that I’m reading a really good book. The only reason I did not give this book 5 stars is due to the ending, I felt that I was left dissatisfied as I wanted more from this. However I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

Good serial killer tale with plenty of red herrings to keep one intrigued. Set in London where all the best serial killers dwell this travels along at a good rate with not one hero but two drawn together by the first victims sister. Entertaining nonsense 🍷🍷🍷🍷🇬🇧🇬🇧😎

This is a really good thriller. I read this book in one go. I was totally intrigued as to who the killer was and why. Blake and Fenton are memorable characters. Their personal lives make the book seem more real. There is a lot packed into this book. There is a lot of action and reasoning before the killer is revealed. I would definitely recommend this book and I would definitely read another book by this author.

A good psychological thriller with good characters.
The key characters lend themselves well to being part of a series of books.

DC Fenton is trying to find a serial killer but is always a few steps behind the next murder. The murderer uses social media to gain notoriety by sharing photos of the murders.

A fast paced read but when the killer was revealed I didn't have any real memory of them being referred to earlier in the book.

This is a brilliant read ,fast paced which is difficult to put down .DCI Fenton is out to track down the killer who posts before and after photos of his victims on the media .The story picks up other interesting characters along the way and you are never sure until the end who the murderer is .I love books like these and look forward to reading the next book in the series .

A fast read for me, one of those that you keep going on pure adrenalin - certainly not without its faults but enjoyable and pacy with some intriguing characters.

I think possibly the whole social media murder thing has been done by another author in series, better to my mind, but if you take that aspect out of it Now You See is a clever page turner that keeps you engaged throughout.

The good things were actually the ones not centred around our main police officer Dan Fenton but more on the side of ex journalist Blake, one victims ex and the one I related more to. Fenton is ok, but slightly generic and I didn't feel that he was particularly fleshed out although based on the way the story played out I can see huge potential in the next book. Which I hope also features Blake and gives the pair a more cohesive "partnership"

For me, who reads this stuff all the time, the killer was in plain sight and there were no surprises - however the little asides from said killer throughout added an interesting layer although I have to say I let out a little sigh at the last bit when it implied that things might go down a certain other route in future books in the series. I hope that is not the case because that has been done before in a certain tv show that was popular recently, now finished, but if I start to sense that this will be a mish mash of pop culture classics it might get a little wearing.

BUT having said ALL of that, it doesn't detract from my pleasure in reading this novel. As far as crime goes I need to have a good mix and Now You See, whilst far from perfect, has set the scene for what could be an addictive series and one to watch.

Recommended for crime fans, especially those new to the genre.

Detective Fenton is working on a case where the Killer get's his kicks from posting images of his victims online on social media sites for the world too see
where he gains a sicken amount of followers or as he would like to think of them as fans. Adam Black is the ex boyfriend of the first victim, Lauren and dealing with PTSD after
a tour in Iraq. Leah is Laurens sister and desperate for answers when the police continue to come up with no leads she ask Fenton and Blake to work together to find whom
is responible for killing her sister. The killings get personal and it becomes a race against time to find the 'I killer'

I enjoyed this story, it kept me reading and i did stay awake all night to finish it so that says a lot for a book. It was written well and the twist at the end was great and fitted it
perfectly with the rest of the story.

Now for the downsides and i'm being a little critical perhaps here in saying this, as i received this from netgalley i assume the finished copy will not contain this mistake but there is one part
in the story where Blake calls Lauren Leah when he's asking a cafe owner some questions about the day Lauren was killed. The only other thing that annoyed me slightly was Fenton's daugther, Tess had seen the killer and yes she hadn't saw him clearly
but given they suspected a man for so long in the story, you'd think they would have at least shown her a picture of this man and asked her was it this man whom had spoken to her, but they didn't.

Over all i enjoyed the book and i'd read more by this author in the future

This is the start of a new detective series featuring the detective Dan Fenton. He is a widower with a young daughter and an excellent detective.

His personal life becomes embroiled with an explosive case. A serial killer known as IKiller is murdering seemingly unconnected people and posting their last moments on the internet.
The book touches on important current issues of social media, the press, how nothing is really private or hidden any more. However, I found the handling a little formulaic and the chapters that are voiced by the killer were somewhat cliched. I did enjoy the element of the criminal profiling in the book.
The plot does trip along at a fantastic pace, and the character of Adam Blake (the ex boyfriend of the first victim) adds a good foil to Fenton. However, I found it a little laughable that these two brilliant minds failed to work out IKillers clue to the final victim until it was nearly too late.
A solid start to a new series and I will look out for the next book.

Thanks go to the publishers and net galley for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.

3.5 stars.

A great debut novel from Max Manning, I really love the character of Dan Fenton, and am glad to see that we will be seeing more of him. The original storyline kept me intrigued throughout, and it was interesting to see the incorporation of social media into the story. I found myself struggling to make my mind up as to whether or not I liked the other characters.

An enjoyable read, which gets you thinking a little too. Thanks for sharing with me!

Someone known as I, Killer is taking pictures of his victims before he kills them and again once they are dead, then posting them on social media for all to see. The police seem to be getting nowhere in tracking him down. The sister of the first victim asks her ex boyfriend Adam Blake to help find him. At first he says no but when another body turns up he changes his mind.
DCI Dan Fenton is in charge of the investigation but things take a sinister turn when a member of his family is put at risk. Can Adam and Dan find the killer before he strikes again?
This is a gripping thriller that had me hooked from start to finish and one I would recommend, and gets a full five stars from me.
I was sent this book from the publisher Wildfire via NetGalley. It is my honest and unbiased review

A great debut. A modern serial killer which is scarily a plausible act. Really hope this is the start of a series.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline for a review copy of Now You See, a serial killer novel set in London.

DCI Fenton is asked to hunt for a killer who has posted before and after death pictures of a young woman on the Internet but first he has to find the body. She is identified as Lauren Bishop, ex girlfriend of former journalist and hostage, Adam Blake who is asked by Lauren's sister, Leah, to undertake his own investigation. In the meantime the self styled I Killer hits too close to home for the police to allow Fenton to stay on the case.

I thoroughly enjoyed Now You See. It is tense, exciting read with some great, unexpected twists and turns. There isn't anything new in the premise of serial killer with a mystifying logic but Mr Manning puts his own mark on it and has produced a very readable novel.

The novel is told from various points of view, notably the unnamed arrogant, narcissistic killer. I'm not a big fan of this approach but it works well here. Mr Manning has caught his thought processes well and it is a really good portrayal of a psychopath from the obsessive need for admiration to the overweening hubris in his achievements. The plot itself is a good read and I congratulate Mr Manning on his ability to misdirect the reader - I thought I had it solved about half way through but, boy was I wrong.

The characterisation is fairly standard for a plot driven novel. Fenton is a single parent trying to cope with raising his daughter and grieving his late wife. He is mostly a by the book type of officer but the killer's personal touch sees him throw the book away. Blake is suffering from PTSD after his hostage experience but whether it is or his innate nature he seems incapable of looking at the book, never mind following it. They work well together and I'd be interested in reading more about them.

Now You See is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

The nation are shocked when a young woman is brutally murdered, even more shocking is the murderer sharing the gruesome scene all over social media calling himself I, Killer. Many are horrified by his posts but cant seem to help themselves by looking and one thing for sure is that I, Killer intends to strike again.
Dan Fenton the lead investigator into the murders finds it all getting a bit close to home and teams up with Blake, the first victim Lauras, ex boyfriend to find the killer before the murderer goes further than ever before.
With both Dan and Blake dealing with their own issues with their private lives will they be able to work together to bring I, Killer to justice....
I enjoyed reading Now You See and was interested to see the psychological element of it when it goes into murderers mind. Its clear to see that Max Manning took great knowledge from his experience as a crime writer.
I would say that it would have been nice to get to know the characters a bit better in order to empathise with them a bit more that I felt I did. But in all this was a great first novel and I look forward to seeing more from this author.

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Detective Fenton is on the case of a murderer showcasing his crimes in the internet. Adam Blake is the ex boyfriend of the first victim, Lauren, and dealing with his PTSD after a tour of the middle east. Lauren's sister asks Blake and Fenton to work together to investigate the murder.

This is one of those sneaky books that has little twists on who the killer is. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see if there will be a sequel.

3.5 rating. This is the first novel in the Detective Fenton series.

I would rate this more a crime fiction than a crime thriller as it lack the thriller action part for me.
Detective Fenton is on the hunt for I Killer, who uses social media to connect with what he believes are his fans. He kills and uploads it. The first victim is the ex girlfriend of reporter Blake.
Blake is a good strong character that I hope to see in the future books. He has some past issues and these were touched upon briefly though out. I loved how he was the bad cop against the good cop Fenton, they work well together and I felt myself wanting for Blake to have a positive outcome.
The Character of Detective Fenton needs some work, which I’m sure, will be expanded on in the next books. He is a single dad having lost his wife and seems torn between his duty as a detective and his duty as a father at times. I found myself questioning why he was not apart of the ending, which somewhat confused me as from the blurb it comes across this is a crime novel about a male lead who will do everything he can to catch the I Killer. I look forward to seeing this character develop and taking a more dominate role in future books.
The main part of the book I enjoyed the most was the profiling of the killer, the look into a killers mind. The flicking between what the killer was thinking and how the profiler profiled him was brilliantly written. The author shows a strong knowledge of criminal profiling. I felt this was a very strong point to this novel and I hope will be developed more in the future books.
I loved the book cover and the title “Now you see” fits very well with the I killer, however the blurb left me a little lost after finishing the book. There was no mention of Blake even when he seemed a massive part of the book and Fenton was not around at the end!
Over all I give this book a 3.5 rating, it had loads of potential and I will be looking out for the second book in hope the author develops the relationship between Fenton and Blake.
