It’s a beautiful day in Manchester and four friends are meeting for a birthday lunch. But then they witness a shocking accident just metres away which acts as a catalyst for each of them.
For Laura, it’s a wake-up call to heed the ticking of her biological clock.
Sensible Jo finds herself throwing caution to the wind in a new relationship.
Eve, who has been trying to ignore the worrying lump in her breast, feels helpless and out of control.
And happy-go-lucky India is drawn to one of the victims of the accident, causing long-buried secrets to rise to the surface.

A great summer read, perfect for dipping in and out of whilst sunbathing.

I always enjoy lucy's books and this was no exception. I absolutely raced through it. I love the way that she uses multiple characters points of view, to keep you wanting to read on.

Lucy Diamond books always manage to tip me upside down and wring me out, leaving me exhausted but also a feeling of melancholy.
As usual her characters all had issues and their stories were dealt with beautifully.
The author's books are always full on and you just can't put the book down.
I did like the way the chapters worked, made each person's story easy to read, digest and move on.
Brilliant book.

It did take me a while to realise that this book flicks between characters in each chapter rather than seperating them out. Once i had got used to this and who was who it became easier to read.. This is an easy read book with something happening to every character. Action packed from the 1st page.
Just felt like tbe ending was a bit of a let down.

It has been a while since I have read a book by Lucy Diamond but I read the synopsis for On a Beautiful Day and it sounded like the type of storyline I felt like reading about friendships and life choices and evaluations.
The storyline begins with our four main characters, Laura, Eve, Jo and India, who are incredibly close friends who have all met up for a birthday lunch but whilst they were enjoying themselves and getting merry they witnessed a tragic accident over the road from where they sat. The women visibly shaken from the event soon realise this is a wake up call for them and begin to see their lives differently.
I made the right choice in choosing this book to read. I connected with the characters and the storyline so much with events they were facing it was rather eerie for me! Each of the women have a battle they are facing and most readers will connect with one of the storylines but your heart also goes out to the other women’s troubles too.
Personally, I did find it took me a long time to differentiate between the characters, trying to work out who was who and which battle they were facing. Each chapter was told from one of the women’s points of view so we get to find out some very emotional situations the women are facing or have faced, some of which they have kept to themselves unable to bring themselves to share their feelings and experiences with anyone and this book certainly shows us that talking and sharing is a big step to healing.
What I loved most about this book is the friendship between the women, there are not enough books out there for me that features an incredible strong and natural friendship between normal day to day women like this.
There were a lot of sensitive topics that were involved in this storyline from serious health situations to relationship troubles and fertility just to name a few and each and every situation was handled with such care whilst bringing awareness to the topics at the same time.
This book will have you engrossed right up to the very last page and you end up feeling like one of the group so it is with regret you leave the women behind at the end after haring laughs and tears along the way with them. It is certainly one of those books that make you stop and re-evaluate your life as you never do know what is around the corner.

I wasn't a fan of the characters at first but they grow on you. A more rounded set of characters that are normally missing in books draws you into their lives and you can't wait to read more.

I have to confess 2 things before I start. One is that this is the first Lucy Diamond book I have read. Rest assured, it won't be the last! The second thing is that at 20% through, I nearly stopped reading. This is not because I wasn't enjoying the book, but because it was so well written that it became too emotional and too close to home. I decided to suck it up and carry on and I am so glad that I did!

This book is beautiful! Full of heart, soul, love, laughter and friendship, it is the story of 4 friends and their respective lives and how they can change in a heartbeat. Laura was the one I connected most with and her story gave me hope.

If you're new to Lucy's books or ate looking for a warm, hopeful book, look no further.

Very enjoyable read from Lucy Diamond - this is the first of her books I've read but won't be the last.

The story begins when 4 friends meet for lunch and witness an accident - each of them is affected differently.

The first line of the description drew me in 'Treasure every moment. Life can change in a heartbeat'. That, and the fact that the author is Lucy Diamond (oh and the cover is stunning too). Ok, so basically I can't hide it! I loved this book, and everything about it!

Lucy is an incredibly talented writer whose books I always love. She has a knack of writing stories which I can relate to, lose myself in, and get all the feels from! On a Beautiful Day is no exception. Beautifully written and full of emotion, intrigue, great characters, and an engrossing plot this was a book I was never going to put to one side for any amount of time!

I love books with groups of friends, and these are a great group! I loved their individual traits and finding out about their life stories, and how realistic they were. I could have been reading about my own friendships and our lives. Lucy guides us carefully and skilfully into their worries, fears, aspirations, and how these become more important after an incident where they witness an accident whilst out together.

This book really does feel like a pair of comfy slippers and a catch up with good friends. It has loads of emotion, some fun moments, and a deep friendship that is wonderful to witness. I loved On A Beautiful Day and hope you will too!

This is a novel about the startling and unexpected turns life can take. It’s about luck – good and bad – and about finding bravery and resilience when your world is in turmoil. Above all, it’s about friendship, togetherness and hope."

Life is like a roller-coaster with twists and turns we often aren't prepared for, and for Laura, Jo, Eve and India the birthday lunch they thought they would enjoy became the catalyst that sent them on an unexpected ride.

For the girls life changed in that moment, and it's full of plot twists that kept me hooked from the beginning.  With fantastic characters, interesting story lines and sub-plots, and gripping twists and turns, this book is definitely one if you like stories that make you stop and think.

For me, On a Beautiful Day makes you pause, and realise that... Life isn't set in stone, it can change in a flash, so cherish every moment and memory, you don't know how long it will last.

****stars from me.

I love Lucy Diamond's books and have enjoyed all of her previous novels. I was eagerly anticipating reading this one and I was not disappointed. Her books are always lovely easy, cosy reads which will make you laugh and cry. They are always full of excellent characters who are easy to identify with.

I really enjoyed the relationship between the friends in this story, beautifully and sensitively written. This is a story of love, loss, family, secrets, happiness, self-discovery and determination. The story is well paced and unfolds perfectly. I read this over a weekend - I couldn't put it down as I wanted to know what was going to happen.

Highly recommended.

An easy to read book about four friends (two of them sisters) who help support each other through the difficult times they each face. After witnessing an accident it makes them evaluate their own lives and their place in the world. Always enjoy Lucy's books

I now have to go and buy all her other books as I really enjoyed this one . Easy to read and interesting characters to follow

India meets up with her best friends, Eve, Jo and Laura at a cafe where their eyes witness a horrific near death for them accident.

Each with their own issues they're dealing with separately the women are all shaken after helping the injured from the accident and life suddenly gains some clarity for them all and what truly matters. Family, love, health and pregnancy are all their dreams they desire to go right and be well, but life often throws curveballs and will they achieve their dreams?

This was a fantastic book in showing how short life can be and how death can be waiting or come unexpectedly. You can try to plan your life we learn but plans go awry and its so relatable from the premise. The women are each independent yet depend on each other for comfort and support as friends do but these ones show their strength being put through tough situations many will face in life. Heart wrenching at times but also an essential read in my opinion.

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

Four friends Laura, Jo, India and Eve are meeting up for lunch on a beautiful day to celebrate India's birthday when they witness an accident, a van out of control that narrowly misses them and ploughs into a shop.

The near miss becomes a bit of a catalyst in the lives of the four friends who all some difficulties in their lives and possibly sends them in different directions to the ones they would have chosen.

A lovely story that had me hooked from the beginning, great characters and good strong storyline that finished well with all the ends tied up neatly. Lucy Diamond is becoming one of my favourite authors and I always look out for her books now
