Mandasue Heller's writing has a way of grabbing you from the first page.
When Ellie stops Gareth from committing suicide you think that's the end of the story, how wrong I was.
This is a well written, suspenseful story with lots of plot twists and turns, and with this author you think you know how the story is going to go but the story changes again and again.
Well written full of suspense and a great mix of characters.
A fantastic read! This seemed quite different to Ms Heller's usual books - although that is not a criticism at all, merely an observation. I really enjoyed this story and found the characters interesting and believable.
While waiting for her train. Ellie spots a young man about to take his own life. Without a thought to her own safety she runs to stop him.
Thinking that's the end of it she goes home but doesn't tell her husband Matt. She knows he will make a big thing of it, after all he often accuses her of being like her sister who will jump in to bed with any man at the drop of a hat.
Not only do things take a sinister twist when Gareth keeps bumping into her and thanking her for saving his life but all hell breaks loose when Matt learns about it too.
This is a first class read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. It gets a full five stars from me and I have no hesitation in recommending it
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest and unbiased review
Save Me is the fantastic new book from Mandasue Heller.
Ellie Fisher misses her train, while waiting for the next one she comes across Gareth who is about to jump from a bridge and decides to help, what Ellie doesn’t realise is that by helping Gareth, her life will be turned upside down.
The story centres around Ellie, her husband Matt, her sister Holly and Gareth.
Ellie lives with her Matt, she doesn’t have much but tries to keep upbeat and look on the bright side. Gareth is the person she helped that night and when he suddenly appears out of nowhere to thank her she thinks it is a coincidence. When her sister Holly arrives with him out of the blue she thinks nothing of it but when Gareth keeps turning up Matt thinks she is having an affair and walks out, Gareth decides it is time to move in and it sets off a chain of events that Ellie doesn’t see coming.
This is a dark well written gritty thriller, it is a truly frightening subject incorporating obsession, lies, jealousy and with the exception of Ellie, unlikeable characters. A compelling story which is impossible to put down. Highly recommended.
I love Mandasue Heller books but I have to say I have struggled with this one and the last one. I found them to be a bit tame compared to her earlier ones and whilst I finished the book I didn’t find it to be gripping as I did her earlier ones.
Save Me is one of those books that is hard to put down .Ellie misses her train home one night and saves a young man from jumping off a bridge .She has no idea that this brave act will turn her life upside down and threaten to destroy it .What follows is a gritty tale of jealousy ,secrets and lies just brilliant !!!!
Mandasue Heller is my guilty pleasure book. Completely different from my real life I love reading about the dark and gritty worlds she sets her books in. I enjoyed this book, although it was clear from the outset that Gareth was not what he seems. However, I thought it captured the subtleties of a controlling relationship accurately. I would have been interested in knowing more about Gareth e.g. what made him this way but overall very enjoyable
Very good book. Finished in one evening. Fantastic book!
Ellie misses her train home one night and "saves" a young man Gareth who is about to take his own life. Gareth keeps popping up in her life unexpectedly. Her relationship with husband Matt is in trouble. Ever since his accident things have been going wrong and nothing she can do is right.
It's a tale of obsession, jealousy, murder and lies.
What can I say. Mandasue Heller is one of those authors that I don't even bother reading the synopsis of the book to find out what it's about. The authors name on the book is enough for me. The Minute I saw this book was available for review on #Netgally I got so excited, I was even more excited when I was approved to read it.
I love Mandasues books and always have, my favourites being The Front and Tainted Lives. I love books set in and around Manchester as I always feel more involved with the story when you have an idea of an area. Mandasue has a tallent for bringing a real life feel into her fictional characters.
In this book, we meet Ellie Fisher. Right from the off I felt for Ellie, I wanted to have words with her and tell her to open her eyes, to see what was happening to her.
After a while as the story progressed she started to get on my nerves, I couldn't believe that this woman could be so gullible, so... controlled and at times stupid. Then I put the book down and thought about things, and how some women can be and are treated badly by controlling partners, and they don't realise what is going on around them. I then started to feel for her again.
It was a great story line, although I had predicted what was going to happen, and I felt a lot of it was crammed in towards the end. I wanted just that little bit more.
Maybe i'm just greedy, but I felt like something was missing, I didn't feel the usual thrill, the grittiness I usually get from not wanting to put a Mandasue Heller book down.
Yet I still enjoyed it. I still liked it, I feel that as I was screaming and shouting (in my head) at the characters, then the author has done her job getting me involved.
I look forward to seeing what Mandasue has in store for us next.
Mandasue is one of my fav authors she always delivers loved the book I love psychological books and think this was one the story pulls you in you start to think ellie is so naïve and her sister such a pain but it all comes good highly recommend this book another brilliant book from this author
This book was wonderful . I immensely love it . It was about Ellie and Matt and Matt was very down about his life . Then Ellie makes friend with Dylan and their friendship goes down hill .
I love Mandasue Heller’s books and was looking forward to reading this as I love all of her books. Well I was not disappointed. It was a great gritty read and gripped you right from the start as all her books seem to do. The book goes to show how being in the right place(or wrong place, depends how you look at it) at the wrong time can have such a big impact on the rest of your life and how people can be manipulated into thinking and believing what they want you to without you realising it. Another great read by this wonderful author
I’ve read lots of Mandasue Heller’s books and always enjoyed them but being complete honest I found the first 60% of this book just ok - and then it kicked in - and then I couldn’t put it down! I’d also worked out what was going on quite early but not to the extent of what happened later in the book
Save Me, is a gritty crime novel by the bestselling author Mandasue Heller.
When Ellie Fisher misses her train home one night, she has no idea that being in the right place at the wrong time will change her life forever.
That night she comes across Gareth, a young man about to take his own life, because as far as he’s concerned there is nothing left to live for. Putting her own life in danger Ellie convinces Gareth that there is always something left. Her own life is no bed of roses, she explains, but she always pushes on.
However, good deeds aren’t always repaid the way we want. Has Ellie unwittingly put her life in danger, or is the real danger a lot closer to home?
I was very lucky to receive this book from netgalley for my review.........
Ellie does a wonderful thing a saves someone from killing themselves only to have that person invade and uproot her whole life.
Save me shows you have you can be made to think or believe whatever a person wants you to believe. And at very high costs.
I was invited in to the books and i didn't want to leave.

I approached this book with excitement as I was honoured to be reviewing it and some trepidation as this is the latest book from my favourite author......what if it was the first book I didnt enjoy and had to do an honest review etc.......
I didnt need to worry, this is Mandasue Heller at her best,in fact I would say it was my FAVOURITE book by her!!!
As usual Mandasue leaves others standing with her ability to tell a story and literally from the first few sentences you are drawn into a powerful and compelling tale that keeps you hooked through every page
The story centres around Ellie and her husband Matt, one night Ellie witnesses something and helps someone......this triggers a chain of events that turns into Ellie’s worst nightmare, the story includes obsession, jealousy, murder, lies and stalking and hosts the usual easy to get to know characters that the author is renowned for creating.....husbands you will hate, boyfriends you will like then despise, sisters who are truly vile and various family members who are larger than life.....you picture them all in your mind from the first few descriptive words you read about each one....and then Ellie who you equally love, get annoyed with, despair of and then could cry for.
This all leads to an explosive, dark, scary and brilliant ending to the book.
These characters and the whole book will stay with me for a long time,an exciting, gripping and fantatsic book
Its the book that truly crowns Mandasue Heller as the Queen of her genre and a book you NEED to start 2018 with. 10/10 5 Stars
