I had loved Paris' Behind Closed Doors. This is the second book I read and I loved it. Although I did figure out the plot quite early.

I do like books that switch between the past and present day and this was well-written and a must read.. Clever twist at the end, although it did confirm what I already suspected.

t is funny how the publishing world seems to work in cycles. For ages every book seemed to be about vampires then it moved on to dystopian future fantasies. Now most of the books worth reading are in the psychological thriller genre and B A Paris has really made this category her own. This is her third novel with a twist and it definitely doesn’t disappoint.

Twelve years ago Finn was returning from a trip to France with his girlfriend Layla. They stopped at a remote service area for a toilet break and when Finn had returned to the car Layla had just vanished. Despite lengthy investigations both in France and the UK she had just disappeared without a trace.

Now that Finn is living with Layla’s sister Ellen and preparing for their wedding some strange things have started happening. Little Russian dolls have begun appearing in the oddest places and this was significant only to Ellen and Layla as children. Could she still be alive…?

Bring Me Back is the kind of book that you need to put everything else on hold for – once you start reading you will need to find out the truth.

I loved Behind Closed Doors and The Breakdown by B A Paris, and I loved this book until near the end and the twist. I had no idea how it could possibly end . No way !!!! Too far fetched and it completely ruined it for me. Very disappointing

3.5 stars. I have read both this authors other books and thought they were fantastic. I did enjoy this book but unfortunately I feel it was nowhere near as gripping as the others. It was a good book but I expected more. Nevertheless it had a very good story line with some twists and turns I didn’t expect.

An ok read. Kept switching from present to past and it was a bit rambly in parts.

The story is told through alternating chapters between two main characters who each have secrets and the tension is built up very quickly and doesn’t waver.
This is a psychological thriller full of dark secrets, unreliable narrators, twists and turns which keep you guessing to the end.
My thanks to Net Galley and the author for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review..

Enjoyed reading this tale of a man whose girlfriend disappeared and who was originally suspected of her murder, then sets up home with her sister, but all is not as it seems. Is his old love still alive? An interesting premises, with good characters, slightly predictable, but quite enjoyable

Hesitantly gave it a 4 but really 3.5. The story is fine and I did enjoy it but I didn’t love it. Really think they should give her longer to write her next book as it felt clumpy and rushed. But it’s on at £1.99 on Amazon at the moment and a fair price.

A tense psychotic thriller, luring and reeling the reader in from the start with adrenaline pumping intensity gradually increasing towards the end. Never a dull moment in this book. What a predicament to be in;Finn in love with two women Layla and Ellen. To choose between them is a hard decision! Is missing Layla still alive? Will Finn be reunited with Layla and what will happen to his love for Ellen?

B.A Paris maintains her excellence in psychological thrillers!

I really enjoyed BA Paris’ previous two novels but this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
Finn and Layla are a loved up couple who have just been on an idyllic holiday in France when an incident happens on the way home and Layla disappears. Finn is initially a suspect and is questioned by the police (his testimony is sketchy and full of holes to say the least, and even he admits that it’s “not quite the whole truth”.

The story picks up 12 years later when it’s generally considered that Layla is dead and interest in her disappearance has diminished. Finn is living with Layla’s estranged sister Ellen, a relationship which developed when they united to search for Layla and share their grief. All is well until they announce their engagement and the couple starts to receive mysterious deliveries of Russian dolls (a toy which had significance to Layla and Ellen in their childhood) and Finn gets emails from a mysterious stranger who claims to know where Layla is and that she wants to come back to him.

It’s a well-plotted psychological thriller, if rather unbelievable in places. I thought I knew what the twist was going to be at the end but it turned out to have a different (and disappointingly silly) denouement. The tension and menace which was palpable in Paris’ previous books was missing for me unfortunately. I remember saying after reading The Breakdown that the formula was a little similar to Behind Closed Doors (paranoid woman, controlling husband etc) and it would be nice to have a bit of variety in her next novel. In this one the guy (Finn) is still a bit dodgy and the women in his life clingy and insecure and the recipe is starting to get a bit stale now.

I've really enjoyed B.A Paris' previous books but this one fell a little flat for me personally.

Great book and good tension building.
Another cracker from BA Paris, though not quite as dark as her first book. I did work out where it was going, but this didn’t detract from the story. Great writing and well worth a read

4*

thoroughly enjoyed this, and thought I had worked out what was going on, only to get to the end and find out that I had no idea! A great twisted thriller!

This book was unusual and I enjoyed it very much. The plot is intriguing and rather complex. However I felt that it had sufficient punch to keep me interested. I found myself looking forward to re-connecting with it each day.
I liked the idea that there were only a few characters, as some novels blind you with the fact that there is not much plot by introducing endless different people. I did have to suspend disbelief at the end as it got a bit silly I felt. I think one of the hardest parts of being a writer is bringing a story to a sensible close. Although this was a close of sorts, I still felt it was a bit messy not least the time scale of a trip to Lewis with a dog. Good book though

I really enjoyed this one and was so very lucky and happy to find out I won a copy.

I loved how fast paced this book was. It kept you guessing as you tried to work out what had happened. It was full of twists and turns and as a reader I found that you just wanted more. Let’s just say the hashtag generated, #ForgetSleep is a perfect fit for the book and describes it to a T.

We follow Finn, whose girlfriend Layla went missing 10 years ago. You read the story from different points of view. Finn, is in the present, 10 years after the incident whilst Layla’s is the past. This gives you a wider view on the events that lead to Layla going missing and to also discover how Finn was now engaged to her sister. (I know slightly twisted, but believable!)

As the book goes on you learn more about all of the characters involved and you simply can’t help guess what could be happening. Back and forth you go as you try to guess how this could all be possible. Finn and Layla are the main characters yet others are featured who have a vital part of the story to tell. Very clever in how it all comes together.

I will continue to praise B.A.Paris’ writing style because she knows how to write characters who keep you guessing as a reader you need to know and that is why you should forget sleep when you pick this up.
Not sure if you can tell but I highly recommend 😀

Copy provided by Netgalley and HQ – all views my own. An honest opinion!

Excellent book! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, an intriguing tale of a missing person told from different perspectives and building up to a shocking climax. I didn't guess the twist at all. Brilliant.

Yet again B.A Paris had me gripped from start to finish.

Two sisters, a holiday to France and Russian Dolls all have a connection but how?

Finns girlfriend Layla does missing on route home from a holiday in France, the trouble is Finn never quite told the whole truth about that disappearance. Moving on with his life and with Ellen, Layla’s sister, Russian dolls start to appear, followed by emails - could Layla be alive after all this time? Is someone playing games with Finn?

What you get is a fast paced thriller that leaves you wanting to know who is behind these sinister gifts and who is sending the emails. What I found was definitely not what I was expecting!

This book kept my interest from start to finish although I did feel it got slightly daft towards the end with one character pretending to be another. Will read more by this author.
