Decent 3 star Read and a hope for a strong start in a series. Will be interested to see how the series develops
This book is the 1st book in a new series set in London. The lead DI is called Maya Rahman. The story is highly addictive and well written
Really enjoyed this booked had never read this author before and will not be the last time. now looking for more by this author
An ok read but pretty average really. Nothing wrong with it just much of a muchness in a saturated market.
First book of Vicky’s that I’ve read. Enjoyed getting to know maya and dan. Would be interested in reading future books in this series
Average book, not a bad book by any means and a great holiday read but fairly standard stuff. I would be interested in reading more by this author.
I loved this book. It grabbed me straight away. I loved the characters and the multicultural insight. A great read.
While this book started off strong, I felt that it lacked pace and the plot wasn't engaging to me after the first third. Unfortunately for this reason I didn't finish the book and in the interest of fairness I won't be reviewing it on any platforms as my review would be unfairly biased due to not finishing it. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.
I can't believe that this is a debut novel. Vicky writes like a master of her genre. Turn a Blind Eye is a brilliant police procedural that has some very tense moments. It is brilliant.
Fantastic to have a hero who is not your usual middle aged male with a drink problem. I loved the fact that the lead detective was a Muslim woman and throughly enjoyed the storline. Newham's writing is authentic and she has clearly researched her subject matter well. Brilliant read.
This was a good crime thriller but at times I felt it dragged a bit. In saying that though I think this series has a lot of potential and I look forward to reading the rest.
A very modern police procedural full of twists and turns and with an enigmatic ending!
An accomplished debut and the first in what will become a highly addictive series.
This part of the amazon blurb sold me on the book already : Turn a Blind Eye is the first book in a brand-new series set in East London and starring DI Maya Rahman. It was a thrilling read, and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here.
Recommended.
I struggled to get into Turn a blind eye. I could not get past the first two chapters and struggled to feel gripped into the storyline therefore unfortunately I gave up on it.
This was a gripping and tense psychological thriller with an emotional plotline. I loved the writing style and was kept on the edge of my seat. Another brilliant book from the author. I will be reading more in the future.
Turn a Blind Eye by Vicky Newham is the first book in a new series featuring DI Maya Rahman. A highly entertaining and addictive read which is guaranteed to keep you turning the pages.
I found the depiction of the area really clinched this for me. A no-brainer. An easy four star if I ever read one. Whilst enjoyed the thrilling storyline I felt it go a tad slow sometimes before picking back up again.
I enjoyed this book and it was interesting to read a book with a main character from a different cultural background. I hope this will become a series as I would like to see more of Maya and Dan
Well written and very readable, probably not my usual sort of rime book, it was a little gentle for me, but otherwise good.
