I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.. This book was a good one to curl up with this season it was a great atmospheric read. I really loved how cute the book was and was waiting for the secret to be revealed because you know it is coming. Isla was a great main character and needed to come home after an embarrassing mishap in New York. I always love those stories where a character moves back home from a big city. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the romance genre or wants a wintery type of read.
4.5 Stars for my first Rebecca Raisin read so I will certainly be looking out for more from this author. This is a perfect book to curl up with ,it’s about friendships, family, romance, weddings, babies and a few secrets, it left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside and I really felt like the inhabitants of the tiny town of Evergreen had become friends of mine. Winter at Cedarwood Lodge is a magical read it has just the right mix of romance and humour, it has characters who are interesting and who you want to get to know so do yourself a favour and one click this beautifully written story.
I didn't care for this book at all. It was really boring and I just couldn't get into it for some reason. The writing was so-so - not terrible, but not amazing either. I DNF'd after the first couple of chapters because I just couldn't get excited about reading it.
4.5 Star review of Winter at Cedarwood Lodge by Rebecca Raisin
Rebecca Raisin is a new author to me and I am not sure why. From what I have read Winter at Cedarwood Lodge is the result of combining three previously published novellas and I must say that I am glad that Ms.Raisin has done this.
This was a delightful book, with interesting and well written characters and a setting that made me want to visit Cedarwood Lodge as soon as I possibly could.
Not an overly long read, but one that had me invested from the first chapter. When high profile wedding planner Clio Winters decides the time is right to fulfil a lifelong dream, she moves to Evergreen to bring Cedarwood Lodge back to it’s former glory.
What she isn’t looking for is romance or to fall in love. Winter at Cedarwood Lodge is a heart warming story full of love, romance babies, weddings and so much more and was a delight to read. I love any story that is centred around my favourite holiday of the year, Christmas. Christmas is a time for family and friends to get together and I found this book delivered.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review through the publisher and Netgalley
Heads up that this is a compilation of three novellas which have already been published so if you haven't read them, you're in for a real treat. I had (I love Raisin) and lamented each time that I wished I had the whole story in one. Raisin is a terrific writer whose rom-coms have a big heart. Here, Clio has left her job in New York to renovate and run the Cedarwood Lodge in small town Evergreen. Of course there are two interesting men- Micah and Kai- and lots of ups and downs. My bottom line is that this is good natured happy Christmas time reading (although this would be great any time of year.). Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Highly recommend!
I've read books by this author before so I knew I was in for a treat.
Clio Winters is finally fulfilling her childhood dream of renovating the gorgeous old Cedarwood Lodge in Evergreen and turning it into the perfect destination for celebrations, weddings and extravagant birthday parties. Her coming home reunites her with her best friends, family and old flames but it also unearths old secrets which might better be left buried.
Clio was such a warm character and her passion for her work was obvious. It was lovely following her on her journey to change her life. I also loved her friends, especially Amory and Cruz, while Kai's calming presence was so well written he felt like a real life person. Descriptions of setting added a lovely atmosphere to the story.
In places, it showed that this used to be three books, because certain things were repeated several times and this caused the pace to slow down a bit, but it didn't diminish the enjoyment of the novel too much.
I just LOVED this and I want more from Cedarwood Lodge!
I like the setting of the lodge and what a wonderful array of characters. A little bit of love and romance with a hint of mystery. A wonderful Christmas story.
Sadly this one wasn’t for me as I have something of an aversion to overuse of the exclamation mark. Can’t win them all.
I received an ARC from Netgalley. I have never read a book by this author before so when reading about her I noted she said she wanted to write about characters that you could see yourself being friends with. She truly hit the mark on making that happen in this book. The author does a great job of capturing that lifetime friendship feel with all characters. It was neat to see these friendships develop into more, especially Kai and Clio’s story is a true lifetime love. Definitely would recommend this book to others. 4 1/2 stars.
This Christmas you will want to curl up and fall in love with Cedarwood Lodge. This is a brilliant story! Previously published as three seperate books called Celebrations & Confetti, Brides & Bouquets, Midnight & Mistletoe with a bonus section at the end and re-edited.
I cannot fault one thing with this story, it is amazing. It is the perfect Christmas, chick-lit and romance story for Christmas 2017. Winter at Cedarwood Lodge has everything romance, secrets, parties, weddings, babies, friends, families, food and snow. What more could you possibly want or need all packed into one great story?
Rebecca is a favourite author of mine and has never let me down and I doubt she ever will. I have awarded another brilliant 5 stars for this story and would highly recommend this story to you all to devour this Christmas. Winter at Cederwood Lodge is perfect. It contains the most heartwarming of stories, characters and the cutest little setting which will make you want to stay there youself. Very impressed. I fell in love with the whole book and every aspect. I will not forget this story in a hurry. A well written story.
Winter at Cedarwood Lodge will be released on December the 1st. So pre-order now. You will not regret it. Enjoy.
I really liked this book. It's one of those that can grip you with the first few lines. There Isla who has left NYC for the wilderness in Evergreen and buys a lodge to renovate for weddings.. although she's running from NYC as a wedding planner..
As she's renovating the building a huge fire escalates and luckily no one is hurt but they need to get the place running within two weeks for a party. There's a negative person in all this... Her mother who doesn't want her near evergreen but why.. .... Xmas is upon them and Isla finds an albumn of photos with her mother and another child. She doesn't question her as her mother has put up a wall against talking about the goings on in the past. . Xmas is here Isla and all her new friends mostly the workers from the lodge all go to her aunts for xmas and they have a wonderful time. Then theres the great party and then her mothers secret is out...
But whilst reading this and you know there's a big secret, you keep reading to find out what it is.
Well written, easy to follow. Very enjoyable
