The Old Geezers is a great comic about these old dudes and a jealousy rampage! These old friends meet at Antoine's wife's funereal where he learns that the late wife cheated on him with his boss - all of their boss. Antoine decides to take revenge, gets a car and heads to Italy with his friends and pregnant granddaughter following him behind. The geezer road trip is awesome, full of emotions and funny to boot. Lupano has so well soaked his story with passage of time, lost youth, memories and the need to still matter. The characters are wonderful with their own personas and all in all the comic is so heartwarming. It's not the destination, but the journey, really. Along the way these friends learn from each other once again and new generations teach them invisibly and nothing is what it truly seems to be and satisfaction is hardly ever there, but it's not necessarily a bad thing.

The art is exceptionally beautiful and rich in detail. The deep and meaningful colors combined with the thin line art makes this amazing and one of the better comics I've read this year. It's also about a topic we hardly see anywhere and it's done with so much heart too. Alive and still kicking is the best phrase to depict these awesome dudes and perhaps getting old doesn't mean you're a lost cause. The Old Geezers is a magnificent comic that was too short, since I wanted more.

I received this Ebook from NetGalley for my honest opinions.

Although I do not read comics and this is one of the few I've finished, I still give it a 4/5 stars for the story and illustrations.

The Old Geezers : Alive and Still Kicking is a comic. About. Old Geezers lol. This was pure magic. So funny. I LOVE and adore all seniors. They say what they want and don't GAF about the feelings of others most times.

But the story begins with Pierrot, who is ex military, going to get Milsey, a tattooed hairy fat ex Navy vet, ready for the funeral of a old friend. They are late for the cremation ceremony and makes it to the reception late as well. The couple reminisce a little about the dearly departed friend, as well as see the pregnant grand daughter of Antoine. They meet up with Antoine, a grumpy old union activist outside. And he starts talking.

Later on he mentions that Lucette left him a letter in another town and invited his 2 friends. They declined.

The next day, Antoine comes back home and get his shotgun and goes off in a fury. He just learned his darling wife has cheated on him (back in 62) with a billionaire whom they both was working for. He is set for revenge. HE IS GOING TO GET HIS REVENGE!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

So Pierrot, Milsey and Sophie has to go stop him of course. But Sophie is 7 months pregnant and they have to travel 9 hrs to Italy. ROAD TRIP!!!

Antoine arrives at the retirement home and realizes that the billionaire is senile and is suffering from dementia/ Alzheimer. He can not go through with this.

The threesome arrives at the retirement home and help the old man see "Lucette" one more time (Sophie looks like her). Towards the end when they get ready to leave, Sophie goes to find him. He is in the house and presents her with a way for her to restart her grandmother puppet theater business again and to help support her baby. This was a beautiful comic.

I 100% requested this book for the cover and the fact that is a comic about old men.

I am 100% pleased with my choice and loved this read. In fact, I believe I need to read more!

This is a short read, it took me no time at all to read through it. Mostly because I wanted to know what was going to happen next! This story follows 3 old men and a pregnant woman. The opening of the story is a funeral of one of the character's wives. Upon getting some..disappointing (to say the least!) news, he gets in his car with a gun to settle some newly unresolved feelings. His two friends and his pregnant grand daughter are fast on the trail to stop this old man from ruining what is left of his life.

The story is great. These old men are fantastic. The grand daughter is perfect.

What a fabulous graphic novel which ends with a cliff-hanger. I cannot wait for the next installment. Beautifully drawn, the story is lovely and the characters well-drawn (both literally and metaphorically). What a charming and nostalgic novel.

Super fun to read and the illustrations are wonderful!! I especially loved the flashback scenes and the way they were presented with a coloration change segue. This needs to be read in physical form or on a table, not e-reader as it is in full color and so visually appealing.

This is an interesting way to tell a story, with old protagonists involved, as well as one very pregnant grandchild, trying to find the mystery of stolen gold, and a love affair, as they travel from France to Italy.

And guess what? Not too much gratuitous female nudity for once, from a European comic book writer. (I mean there are a few scenes where we see a nude back, and some of the women have some tight clothes, but not bad).

And we are left with a mystery, at the end, to be resolved, I take, in the future translations of this book.

Thanks to NetGalley for making this book available for an honest review.

Couldn't leave it before i read it from the beginning til the end - it caught my eye at first sight - really beautiful drawings, lovely colours, so nice affectionate painted characters. I'd love to see and read more of them!
