Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will enjoy.
Great holiday read, although not very seasonal during a heatwave. I have to be in the mood for this sort of book, but I did enjoy an easy read.
This is the third in the Finfarran series of novels but could be read as a standalone novel.
I really love the author's easy style of writing and quickly found myself drawn into the story. Lovely characters, this is a romance story but also a tale of friendship and community. I liked the Irish setting and would like to visit this area.
A warm fell-good festive story, which I can recommend. I also enjoyed the first two books in the series and would highly recommend these too.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a good story, but I couldn’t get into it, the characters were good, and the setting okay, but it just didn’t appeal to me, shame, as it sounded really good.
We discover the cosy village of Lissbeg, the original home of Cassie Fitzgerald’s father. She has travelled over from Canada to discover her roots and tries to solve the puzzle of why her father and uncle never came back. It’s the run up to Christmas and the whole area is competing to have the best festive fair. I was slowly drawn into the detail of the lives of characters and found myself getting involved. I haven’t read any of Felicity’s books before and was surprised to learn this is the third in the series. I may go back to read the other ones.
The latest in this series set in Lissbeg, Ireland.
Cassie travels to Ireland from Canada, to visit the place her dad was born and her gradparents still live. Can she help settle old feuds and is Ireland a place she can stay a while?
A gently paced story in a lovely setting.
I chose this book as I love reading stories set in the UK.
Cassie comes from Toronto to the small town where her Dad was born.
There are so many different parts to this story, it wasn't just your usual out and out romance which I liked and although it did take me a few chapters to get fully into I really enjoyed this story.
Review shall be up on my blog 04/12 - thecosiestcorner.blogspot.com
When this popped up on Netgalley, I knew I had to read it. When I read the blurb, I knew even more that I had to read it! I absolutely loved the fact that this was set in Ireland, and upon reading it, loved that I recognised some of the places they were talking about! Sometimes, even with a book set in England, I struggle to know where exactly it's set because I haven't travelled my own country enough - but it was so lovely to read this book and know some of the places named (such as Carrick - all thanks to my lovely boyfriend).
One thing I must say is that I absolutely fell in love with the cover. The dark blue sky with snow drifting across it, the coloured lights draped in-between the cottages and the lone Christmas tree in the centre, they make the cover look so beautiful. I do believe that covers play a big part in your wanting to read a book, and this is definitely one that will constantly be picked up.
Now for the story, I hadn't read any other novels by Felicity Hayes-McCoy so wasn't sure what to expect - however, I did love her style of writing and really enjoyed reading it. One thing that I was slightly confused about was the amount of characters that were introduced in the beginning of the novel. I understand that this is the third novel in the series so I think I should have read the other two before this, just so that I understood and knew the characters a bit better in this one.
I must admit that the story wasn't confusing - that wasn't the case at all. I just wished I had read the first two beforehand so I had a better feel of the other characters. The story focuses a totally different person than the first two, but the story does flick back to the first two main characters and I think that's where I got a little confused. However, the more I got into the story, the better it became and I really did enjoy it. I found myself really relating to main character Cassie and I loved the character of Cassie's gran Pat. She was so lovely and caring that I just found the story so heart warming.
Overall, a really interesting novel set in the beautiful Ireland. Thank you to Netgalley and to the publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I reviewed honestly.
Cassie leaves Canada to come to the Finfarran Peninsula in Ireland, the place where her father was born and her grandparents still live. She soon befriends Hanna from the Lissbeg library and joins the book club, she is settling into life here but will she solve the problems from the past, Why is her grandfather so mean to her grandmother who is such a lovely woman...... and dont forget the gorgeous Shay!
It's great to be back in Lissbeg and with all the characters from the first two books. I love the rambling Irish stories with such wonderful characters and it feels like coming home when you start a new book about them
