I was offered the first chapter of this book in return for an honest review. I didn’t download the chapter I just dived straight in and bought the book from Audible. I loved it, I loved listening to how Louisa fared in New York. The oration was incredible it sounded very much like Louisa in me before you. I’ve since recommended it to all my friends.
I devoured this sample taster of Still Me. I loved the previous books in this series and now can't wait to read the whole book.
I really enjoyed this sampler and am highly anticipating reading the whole book.
I was given the first chapter to Still Me and it really was like being reunited! I loved the first book and really enjoyed the second. I cannot wait to unravel the latest escapades in Louisa Clark's life! I find her so easy to empathise with and there is always so much humour and love in JoJo Moyes' writing even when the storyline is horrendously emotional!! I can't wait to buy the rest of the book!!
Me Before You is one of my all time favourite books and one of the rare books I have reread over again so I was look forward to the release of Still Me to see what Jojo Moyes had in store for Louisa Clark this time so I snapped up my copy from my local bookshop and headed home to jump straight in.
Louisa has an opportunity of a life time to really do what Will wanted her to do and push her boundaries and see the world when an opportunity for her to up sticks and move to New York and become a professional friend to the very wealthy Agnes.
As Louisa is challenged in her role in keeping secrets and to partake in exercise that almost kills her she is also finding it difficult leaving Sam behind can a long-distance relationship really survive especially when a face from her past takes her breath away?
I really enjoyed this book and found myself taking my time reading this as I really didn’t want to leave Louisa again as with each book she is taken on a further exciting journey that is allowing her to find herself and I love being with her on her journey and watching her blossom. You can still rely on Lou to give us a good laugh but you can also really see the honest and genuinely caring character she is deep within always putting herself before others even when it leaves her in a vulnerable situation.
I loved having Nathan around again in this book as well as meeting some new characters like the difficult yet delightful Mrs De Witt and the ever so friendly and welcoming Ashok, I have to say I had my reservations surrounding Josh and Agnes from the get go, they didn’t warm my heart but they were great characters in this storyline.
Jojo Moyes really gets the balance right in this book with the emotional moments and her humorous antics which we had in Me Before You but that for me was missing in After You she has pulled it back again with Still Me and this is what kept me hooked and purely entertained and absorbed in the storyline from start to finish.
I have a feeling this may be the last in the series which I will be devastated about as I still feel we could have one more Lou adventure to tie everything up beautifully so I will still keep my hopes up that Jojo will grace us with one more little Lou book! If you are one of the extremely small population who still have not read Me Before You stop wasting time and go and grab a copy you will not regret it and then you will be eager to meet up with Lou again on her New York adventure in Still Me.
Enjoyable first chapter, I will definitely, read the whole book when available.
Late to the party but still ...it’s a great dive in head-first start to the third on the Louisa books. Now in New York working for a rich, old money New York family, Louisa’s American adventure has just begun. What will her employer be like? How will she cope alone? I can’t wait to read the rest of the book.
Love! Knew I'd have to get myself a finished copy within a few minutes of starting the sampler.
It was nice to hear from an old friend. As always I enjoyed Louisa's antics, and loved the New York setting and Mrs. de Witt, but felt that this was maybe more chich-litty than the previous two books in the series. I listened to the audio and thought the narrator did an excellent job. Think this will make a stunning movie.
Good 1st chapter looking forward to the rest. Nice to have lou back
This first chapter was a great teaser. I definitely want to read the rest of the book and see what happens to Lou.
Oh, how long have I been waiting for the next part of the story of Lou Clark! This sample chapter doesn't disappoint in planting you straight back in to her world and leaves you wanting to read more. So much so, I've ordered the book! Nothing can beat the brilliance of Me Before You but it left many people wondering what happened next and After Me didn't disappoint. Although I was happy where Jojo Moyes left the story with the second book, I was even happier to learn that Lou's story was to continue, If it's anything like the first two books and Moyes' other works of fiction, I will be a happy bookworm.
I don't think I will ever forget when I first read Me Before You & After You by Jojo Moyes, and this continuation appears to be as unforgettable as the other novels in the series.
Following Lou on her journey is as interesting and captivating as when we were first introduced to this loveable, quirky individual, and while I have only read a sample of Still Me, I can already recommend this novel and I can't wait to read it in its entirety.
Like all Jojo Moyes novels, this one is not a book you want to miss out on!
This was an interesting opening to the next part of Lou's story. Her familiar bubbly character shines through straight away and gives an inkling to the journey that lays ahead of her in New York.
Just ace
Want more!
The scene is set perfecty and left me wanting more
Wow! As soon as I started reading this book I got goosebumps because it was just so thrilling to be back in Louisa Clark's world once again. This book starts in such a fun way with Lou at border control, about to enter the USA, everything she is doing and feeling is so relatable and instantly you remember why you love her as a character so much. There are so many classic Louisa moments in this book, from genuine moments of honestly an heart to moments of insecurity and some really clumsy and or drunken mishaps. She is a great character and I am so pleased that Jojo Moyes has decided to bring her back for a third time, long live Louisa Clark.
Of course there are some new characters to meet in this book as well and most of them just happen to be New Yorkers, which is great fun to read about as well. But what Jojo Moyes has done is recognise that there are so many people from so many other countries who live in this city and the characters really reflect this, I think she made a really good choice here! Fear not, we get to catch up with Louisa's lovely family as well, when we got to hear from them through phone calls and visits, it really did feel like I was speaking to home as well, these characters have been so brilliantly written to feel like family to the reader as much as to Louisa.
Then there is the fact that the majority of this book is set in Manhattan. I loved seeing the city through Louisa's eyes and visiting places with her that I have visited myself. It has that little bit of "Devil Wears Prada' about it because obviously Louisa is new to the city but must find her way around and get into the rhythm of New York so that she can get on with her new job, and there are some very funny moments that come out of this. One of my favourite things is that she frequently stumbles across the difference between purse and handbag, something that I can really relate to and something I'm glad was included in this book.
In terms of the plot, I would say that this, the third in the series is a little more upbeat than the previous two novels and the plot is therefore a little slower in pace. It is very much all about Louisa's new start and I loved the fact that Jojo Moyes keeps it simple and really does focus in on that. She doesn't go too far into the ins and outs of the consequences of visas and plane fares and that makes for a real escapist read. The plot certainly did keep me turning the pages though as I listened to this audiobook in one day, only stopping it once when I had to call in at that library!
All in all this book was just fantastic. I really don't even think you would need to have read the other two books in the series in order to enjoy this book because it is definitely a story in itself about a wonderfully optimistic English woman making a life for herself in a fabulous new city and everything that comes with it. I feel satisfied and comforted having finished the book. I feel like I have lived through the experience with Louisa and I am ready to go right back to the beginning and start it all again!
I HAD to read this, to find out how Louisa was managing now. The third in a trilogy, it didn’t disappoint at all. Jojo Moyes is a brilliant writer, managing to make sure you tumble head first into the story, and unable to help yourself from having to finish the book in one go, certainly no more than two goes. It does help if you now the background, but it’s not necessary.
Have you ever not remembered how much you loved a character until you held the next instalment in your hands? It's like meeting up with an old friend and all the memories rush at you until you feel quite dizzy? No, just me then. Dramatic as it might sound i loved having the company of Louisa Clarke, however brief. She's in New York ready to conquer a new quest and it sounds fantastic, right up her street, she is to become the personal assistant to the wife of an uber rich businessman.
She is ready to reinvent herself yet again and where better than the big apple.
This will be the 3rd in the brilliant Louisa Clarke series and if it is a shadow of the success of the previous two then it will be a fantastic read.
This book has hope, sadness, and longing all mixed in. There's this almost whimsical quality in the writing too.
This book was imaginative and very well written. I did love how it flowed together and made me want to keep on reading. ! I loved reading it and I loved the characters connections with each other. A definite winner for me.
In Me Before You, Louisa Clark became a companion and carer for Will who was paraplegic and he ended up changing her world. In After You, Lou recovers from the most passionate and intense love of her life and learning to live without him by her side, and finding ways to love again. Now in Still Me, Louisa is on a new adventure to New York but has to learn how to handle a long-distance relationship, and discover what she really wants to do with her life.
I adored Me Before You and I really enjoyed After You. But I feel we get the proper old Louisa we all fell in love with in Still Me. In After You, we grieved with her and had to learn what life was like after Will. It was a learning process, and we like Louisa had to learn how to handle her in a new relationship with Sam (who I am a big fan of).
Louisa really comes into her own in Still Me. I feel like she grew so much. She’s alone but content in her own company, she’s going out exploring and learning what she wants to do in her future and all the things she’s capable of (without Will having to tell her all the time). She’s really taking her lessons she learned from him and applying them to her life everyday.
I thought her relationship with Josh was an interesting turn. While he wasn’t my favourite, because obviously Sam is endgame, I do feel like it was something Louisa needed. It was probably one of the closest things she could have that would be like a relationship with Will - the Will she should have had. I think it was something she needed to experience because the truth is if Will and Louisa hadn’t met the way they had they may not have ever been together or fallen in love. He may have been a lot more like Joshua, who knows.
I loved Louisa’s relationship with Mrs De Witt. It was so heartwarming and I’m glad she ended up getting ownership of Dean Martin in the end.
I laughed so many times during this book at Louisa just being Louisa and was smiling more or less the entire time I was reading it. This book just feels so lovely and comfortable and Louisa is one of those characters that feels like home.
Also, I LOVE that Treena came out, and how the family reacted. It was so lovely and honestly, it felt really right for the character.
This book definitely won’t make anyone thinking of getting into a long-distance relationship hopeful. Louisa and Sam are only apart three months when everything falls apart but a lot of talk that happens at the end, the way they rushed into things and still had a lot to learn about one another made sense. I loved the end, and honestly I still want more from Louisa. I can’t get enough.
