I enjoyed the setting in a small Italian village in the Umbrian mountains, felt like taking a short trip there myself. As ever, Moorcroft creates engaging and relatable characters and puts them in entertaining situations.

If I'm being honest anything that involves Italy is a winner for me. So when I was asked whether I would review One Summer in Italy I obviously leapt at the opportunity.
Not only is One Summer in Italy set in a gorgeous location, that seriously gave me holiday envy, it is also a really uplifting book. One that instantly put a smile to my face.
On his deathbed, Sofia's father asks her to promise to do several things. One of which is to go to Italy. And so Sofia sets off to fulfil her father's wishes.
Along the way she meets some amazing people, sees some fantastic locations and learns a lot about herself.
This is a really enchanting read that made me desperate to go back to Italy!

Another great read from Sue Moorcroft, I really enjoyed this book. I was drawn in from the start and it kept me entertained throughout. Gorgeous setting, beautifully written engaging plot. I liked all of the characters and cared about each of them.
A perfectly balanced story - with both ups and downs. A story of new beginnings, friendships and some romance. Ideal for a holiday read or for an afternoon in the garden.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

A lovely feel good story, so descriptive of Italy I felt like I had been there. I loved the whole family background. Good characters, a little predictable ending but hey who cares!

This is a good, modern, romantic, summer story. Perfect to read during the summer holidays. It held my interest to the end.

This book belongs to the category of light reads that have a fair amount of humour and fun things despite tackling big life issues which almost always have a happy ending. I've never been to Italy, so it was fun to discover it from Sofia's point of view. It has a lot of character, although less so than the characters in this novel. I felt sorry for Sofia because she was grieving with a huge hole in her heart, one that initially nothing can ease. I though she was brave to head off to Italy, and admired her overall spirit.
I wish I could say I was surprised at the treatment Sofia received at the pizzeria, but I have heard of similar things happening in real life, so while disconcerting I was relieved that it did have a happy end eventually. Sofia suffered greatly, but she wasn't the only one and managed to turn the situation around, with a little help from new friends.
Unlike most readers, while the relationship with Levi and Sofia was intriguing (more so when his complex secret gets revealed), my favourite character partnering (of sorts) was the young waitress Sofia meets, Amy. Sofia does her best to help Amy who hasn't had all that much life experience. Amy tries hard to be a friend slash sister, protecting Amy from harm as much as she can, having a laugh with her once the initial incident which throws them together was sorted, basically being there for her when she was all alone.
There were times when I wanted to tell Amy off for being so stupid, but that was reckless behaviour that in general happens to younger people as part of the growing up process. Amy develops a heroine worship for Sofia because she helped her in a huge way that I can't say without spoiling the story; this bonds the two together meaning that Amy actually is able to face her life curve balls eventually, after initially wanting to ignore/run away from them. The dynamic between Amy and Sofia is one I really enjoyed, and I'm eager to reread the story because of that.

As usual Sue captured my imagination with her writing, I haven't been to that part of Italy, but it sounds absolutely amazing.
I liked the usual family saga that makes Sue's writing so easy to relate to.
Looking forward to the next one
👍

When Sofia follows her fathers last wishes and promises him that she will visit Italy, his home and while there to pass on a message to his brother. While there Sofia meets Amy, a young woman who has left home after finding her dad isn’t actually her real dad.
From quite an emotional start to an emotional ending this author had me hooked in this beautiful story. It is one of people not only discovering things about themselves and their families but, about finding themselves.
I liked Sophia, she has level-headed and down to earth approach, but also with a cautious nature and yet still able to take a risk. Amy I didn’t like quite as much but that was more to do with the naivety of her character, and her ability to throw temper tantrums. This however is her coping mechanism for life and it did feel right for her as I got to know her more.
As much as I liked Sophia, there were times I wanted to tell her to go and enjoy herself more as I felt that the cautious nature did hold her back at times. So with that and Amy’s petulant outbursts it made it very interesting reading as I discovered the dynamics behind their friendship. I am so glad they met as Sophia could see and help with Amy’s vulnerability.
Now then there is a romantic side to this story, and I really loved this part as well. It is not too over the top and is actually the part of the story that adds the links between the other things going on. So then I got to meet Levi mmmm, oops sorry 🙂 he has his own story to tell and he is another character I liked just a little bit 😉
There various stories that the author has weaved around theses three characters, they each have their own reasons for being in Italy and you will discover the ins and outs of their lives as you are taken around the beautiful setting. Other characters pop in and have their own opinions, some more vocal than others.
This is a book I have wanted to read for a while now and it was perfect for sitting in my garden with. The settings and descriptions were wonderful and allowed me to visualise various aspects of the Italian village. This is a book that does deal with some serious threads and scenarios running through it and for me they were dealt with sympathetically and also realistically. I was able to see viewpoints from different characters so making it possible to see various arguments.
So I really enjoyed reading this book a whole lot, it is heartwarming and beautifully written, I had grinning face at some points, teary eyes at others, there were some secrets that caught me by surprise and some that I did see coming. I felt that by the end of the story that I had got to know Sophia, Amy and Levi quite well, their stories were developed and flowed to a very satisfying ending. This is a book I would definitely recommend to readers who want to escape into a story of family, love and self discovery. Ideal for readers of general fiction, women’s fiction xx

A beautiful summer read which took me from my home to the landscapes of Italy. Sue Moorcroft's books always makes me smile and feel happy.
I have read this author's books previously and I always read her books when I need a little pick-me-up, the credit goes to her writing.
The story follows the travels of Sofia and Amy as they go about uncovering the mystery and secrets and Amy's unknown relatives.
It is the characters which can take the book to higher level after the plot, and these characters are absolutely a delight to read.
On the whole a great read on a cozy afternoon.

I have read all of Sue's previous books and I know that when I pick up her latest release I am in for a great read. The day is cleared of any other plans and I relax and escape to the locations within the book and meet a whole new cast of characters, who's lives I am following and who I would love to meet.
One Summer in Italy is no exception to this rule. Transported, through Sue's excellent writing, to the mountains of Italy I was able to imagine a land to which I never visited but would love to see. The reader is able to follow Sofia and Amy as they travel to try and find Amy's relatives and to uncover the family secrets that have been hidden away for a number of years.
I have really enjoyed this book and as with all of Sue's previous reads, the scenery is beautiful, the characters are a great cast and the storylines are believable and really well written.
I would recommend this to all of my blog readers, It is the perfect book to read on a beach, next to a pool or just in the garden. The publishers, Avon Books have given me an extract to share with my readers which I hope you all enjoy and that many of you go and get your own copy of One Summer in Italy to enjoy this summer.

It was a cute love story. I loved Sofia and Amy's friendship. My favourite character was Levi, I loved all facets of his character. I didnt expect the twist. A short heartwarming read

A beautiful romantic summer read. I loved the Italian setting and the book flowed easily for me, leaving a smile on my face. Really enjoyed it. Perfect setting, and lovely engaging characters. The cover is lovely too!

I needed a book for my holiday and this one just fitted the bill. This was mainly set in Italy, a romance. I felt the hot sweltering sun and the descriptions made a memorable setting. Unlike a lot of romances this one was not soppy, in places there was sadness. Sophia's father is dying and he makes his daughter promise she will go to Italy and meet the family she has never met. I was always pleased to pick this book up and start reading on. It's a refreshing easy read, with good characters and an interesting plot.

Easy Holiday Read
This is an enjoyable summer read involving three main characters and a not too complex plot. The story gently unfolds although it does lose a little bit of sparkle towards the end I felt.

Sofia had spent years of her life looking after her beloved father and so when he is on his deathbed she promises that she will start to live her own life, find love and enjoy herself. Her first step is to move to Italy to the town that her father grew up in, so that she can find the uncle that she never knew she had and pass on a message from her father. She soon finds a live in job as a waitress and makes friends with Amy another young waitress who she takes under her wing........ but will she be able to obey the strict house rules of not fraternising with the customers when she meets the gorgeous Levi
Another lovely book by this author, lighthearted read with great characters in a lovely sunny setting that definitely make you want to jet off to Tuscany

One Summer in Italy was an easy to read book, perfect for sitting in the summer sun relaxing and loosing yourself in the book.
Set at the title suggests in Italy and was so well described I felt I was there too.
Another great book by Sue.

Fun, sun, family secrets, friends. A good holiday read. A Sue Moorcroft book always guarantees a good read.

I love, love, loved this book. I was wanting something summery and fun to read and it totally hit the spot.
After spending her twenties caring for her father, Sofia is taking a well earned break, travelling and learning to spread her wings. She starts her journey in Italy, in her father's hometown.
Levi has... secrets... which bring him to Monteliberta. He falls in love with Sofia early on and has to do a bit of work in order to be with her. And Amy is a teenager running away from things (a lot of things).
There's a lot going on in this book. The main thing that caught me was the setting and the atmosphere. I felt like I'd been transported to Italy and spent the whole time craving a cold glass of something on the terrace.
I received a review copy through Netgalley.
This is a wonderfully evocative holiday read.

When Sofia's father dies, she decides to go to Italy as it's her father's wish. Sofia is going to fulfill the promises she made to her father in his final days. In Italy she finds a job in a restaurant, where she becomes friends with Amy, who looks up to her as to a bigger sister. They both have family aspects to figure out and as they support each other, they grow better friends in time. While the girls work and try to figure their life out, Sofia meets Levi and there's a romance sparking between them.
It was a wonderful book with strong characters and great setting. It's a lovely book to read during the summer and I'd highly recommend it.

Another classic from Sue Moorcroft. A really engaging story with lots of unpredictable plot twists. A perfect beach read for anyone’s summer holiday.
