I have long been a fan of Lisa Renee Jones and it is always exciting for me to pick up a new book by her. She is an amazing writer that has the ability to just reach into your soul and blow you away with her unique style and complex character development.

Her stories are an amazing testimony to her obvious deep love for what she does. I think I even lose a little bit of myself every time I read one of her books because I get so involved and attached.

I cut my teeth on reading grown up, adult stories (not those kind - lol) with authors like Joseph Wambaugh, Robert Ludlum, and other similar authors that dealt with stories in crime, police drama, black ops, espionage and more. So it is no wonder that one of my favorites genres to read today is the romantic suspense category.

With my love of romance and then the added suspense and crime aspect, the blend for me is perfect. Intriguing, never boring, and all encompassing! It is no wonder I gravitate to authors like Kim Harrison, Laura Griffin, Cindy Gerard, and not to be missed, Lisa Renee Jones, and so many others.

Jones has usually had the romance factor first in her stories with the suspense running along side or even as a secondary factor, until this book. This book focuses mainly on the suspense and the mystery of the crime.

With the main character an FBI profiler with many secrets of her own, this story takes us back to her hometown and back into the secrets she has been trying to hide and bury for years. Bring in a past love, Kane, and this story just heated up!

From murder notes and plenty of suspense to underlying passion and anticipation, this story is a fabulous introduction to this new series. I love Lilah Love! She is gorgeous, strong, snarky, smart, humorous, perceptive, fearless, and ingenious; with a quick wit and tongue to match.

Jones is known for creating the perfect man and Kane is just that! An intriguing hunk of man that is mysterious, and so flipping hot, you can feel the testosterone coming off the pages. Plus, he loves Lilah ... Her - she won't admit it because of their past history.

I could not get enough of this book. The author wrote in a roundabout manner that builds suspense and anticipation for the truth. Sometimes frustrating, but oh so worth it all! The question is, can we handle the truth?

As Murder Notes is part of a new series, I am going to have to wait months for part two as this ended in a cliffhanger. But oh, what a fabulous part two it will be!

Professional assassin or serial killer? That’s the question FBI Profiler, Lilah Love, is tasked with answering, when she’s brought in on a series of murders that appear to be linked to her buried past.

Drawn back to her hometown in the Hamptons, where her darkest nightmare lies, Lilah struggles to maintain control amidst her law enforcement family and her former crime-connected lover who covered up the secret she tried to leave behind.

For Special Agent Love, coming face to face with the local drug lord’s son, Kane Mendez, means stirring up many unwanted feelings. Because not only did Lilah once lose herself to Kane, but he also holds the power to destroy her. But despite Kane’s insistence that he’d always protect her at any cost, Lilah isn’t quite convinced.

Upon Lilah’s arrival, another dead body welcomes her. Seemingly connected to her case, there’s little doubt that the killer knew of her impending trip back home. Add to that the unexpected discovery of a potential third witness to the events only two should know, and Lilah finds herself scrambling to keep her secret hidden, while attempting to work her case.

Lilah Love comes across as cold, sarcastic and guarded. By design, she puts up walls to keep people at a distance. Her reasons for doing so are rooted in her past, and have just barely started to unfold. Then there’s Kane. At this point, Kane is still very much an enigma. It quickly becomes apparent that he’s withholding something vital, but his underlying feelings for Lilah appear to be sincere.

Complicating matters further, are Lilah’s feelings towards her family and her distrust for her former best friend. At this point in the series, it’s hard to discern who can be trusted and who cannot. But one thing is for certain—the cliffhanger ending will have this eager reader coming back for more!

Suspenseful, captivating and intriguing, “Murder Notes” is the first book in a brand new mystery/thriller series by author Lisa Renee Jones. With characters that are multi-faceted, complex and real, this series if off to a really great start.

I received an advanced copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed.

Title: Murder Notes
Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Series: Lilah Love

Murder Notes was a great 5 star read.
I was pulled right in and couldn’t put it down until I was done.

Lilah Love is an FBI agent who is investigating a series of murders that seem to be done by the same person. There is something too professional about the murders. When the murders take her back to her hometown it starts to feel like they are personally for her, but why and who is doing this?

She also comes face-to-face with an old flame, someone who is part of a very dangerous family and is a possible suspect. Someone who she once loved and is still very attracted to. She is also getting mysterious notes with warnings and threats but she doesn't take being threatened very well.

Will she find out who is responsible? Can she stay away from Kane?

Kane doesn’t scare me. I scare me when I’m with Kane. - Lilah

I don’t bite unless you tell me to bite, beautiful. You know that. -Kane

I really loved this book. All of the characters were great and I have to say that I am in love with Kane. Hot, dangerous and rich and he seems to have it bad for Lilah. There are several people that are possible suspects so my mind was just a going trying to figure things out. Lilah is a very strong character and she doesn’t take crap from anyone, I love her. We end on a big cliffhanger and I can’t wait to get the next book. Well done Lisa Renee Jones, I have once again been pulled right in and I can’t wait to read more.

Murder Notes by Lisa Renee Jones is the First book in the Series called "Lilah Love".
Lilah is a successful FBI Profiler and works hard in the job she loves. But some new murders have clues that are leading her back to her home town and a secret that she has been keeping. Back in her home town not only leads her back to her family but to a ex boyfriend named Kane Mendez, whose father was a part of the local crime lord/mob association.

Lilah Love is one awesome FBI profiler who is trying to figure out a string of murders. Upon further investigation, she discovers that all of the murders are somehow tied to her. She goes back to New York to investigate the one murder there and is reunited with her past.

As she tries to put the pieces together and figure out the murders, someone else is trying to expose her long ago buried secret. Now faced with trying to figure out who is doing all this while not getting herself or anyone else killed, Lilah must rely on her honed senses as one of the best profiler ever to figure the murders out.

I can not wait for book two as I need to know what happens to Lilah and everyone.

As I read the last words of this book I start screaming “No, no, no, no!” This ends on a huge cliffhanger! I can wait to read the next book. This has everything, mystery, suspense, lots of suspects, twists and turns. Lilah is such an interesting character. Kane is dangerous, sexy and quite intriguing. This book is told from Lilah’s point of view. Lisa Renee Jones is such a prolific writer. She truly knows how to spin a tale to make you turn the pages as fast as you can!

My first crime book in, I don’t know how long. I needed to read this book, because the blurb got me hooked.
The book is the first one in a series. You will need to read this one before you read the next ones.
It started a bit slow and I needed some time to sort all those names and people that appeared throughout the first chapters in the right order and relationship, but after that I was sucked right in. The heroine, Lilah Love, was exactly my type of heroine. Snarky, foul-mouthed and self-confident. She battles her own demons that are not completely related to her job as a profiler at the FBI. Demons from her past pop up here and there and she has to battle them while solving crimes. All of this weaves a net that caught me like a spider catches a fly in her net.
The angst and drama and feelings portrayed through an exceptional writing style made this book a great reading experience that makes me want to pick up more books from this author. It’s an absolute recommendation for readers of crime, drama and angsty books. And also for those who want to dip their toes into the water of crime. This book is really great and I wish more people to pick it up and read about Lilah and Kane.

Lilah is a 28 year old FBI profiler living in Los Angeles.

Something bad happened in her hometown in the Hamptons a couple years ago, but now she's living an okay life as a successful agent away from the town, her family and her ex - her Dad is the mayor, her brother is the police chief and her ex is the son of the town's 'crime lord'.

But a series of dead bodies lead her back to Long Island. And it's not a coincidence. Something, or rather someone is leaving clues that are connecting the killings to Lilah.

Does someone know about the secret she's been hiding?
Only her ex Kane knows about it.

If she doesn't want to lose her career and her life and that of the people she loves, she needs to find the killer and/or the person who ordered the killings.

But it's not that easy with her family and the whole Island knowing her and watching her every move. Unable to trust anyone! And with the bad guys always one step ahead ... .

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO LILAH???
WILL SHE CATCH THE BAD GUY???
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Well, that was exciting!!

I really enjoyed reading it.
It's so completely different from other LRJ books.

It's a mystery thriller suspense thingy. Not a romance. Which sounds a bit bad for a romance lover like me - but don't worry - there are some shades of romance in here - and there might be more coming. ☺

I couldn't stop reading. I just had to know who and what and why and how and what will happen next??? And who can we trust and who is bad and who not and grrrrrr!?!?!

And I also wanted Lilah to find her happily ever after - but since it's not a romance, that might not happen ... yet. There are a few candidates though. ☺

We will also get a tiny little cliffy. The second book will be out in July. BUT - Lisa is really good with putting little summaries into the front of the second book in a series! Very good for people with #Bookalzheimers!

Anyway. I really enjoyed this story.
It was super exciting and suspensy and mysterious ... you just can't stop reading!
You want to hurry to the end of the book and catch the bad guy(s) with Lilah! ☺ And then we want to see everyone live happily ever after.

But the story is not only completely thrillerish. It's also the story of Lilah. A bit funny, a bit moving, a bit heartbreaking, a bit hopeless.... Lilah is a very complex character. She's really funny and sarcastic and ... kinda amazing and strong. But also very broken and hurt. And she's not really trying to heal from what happened. She also doesn't really give the men in her life a chance to fight for her. She's ... very ... complicated. That is definitely what Lilah's Facebook status would say. Not only her FB status - her life status! ☺ #Complicated

A few readers might even think the story was a bit complicated too. There are LOTS of names and people and suspects and family and ex partners and whatnot in this book. But surpisingly, I almost always knew who we were talking about ... that kinda never happens to me - I'm confused extremely easily! ☺

I also loved how Lisa described everything. I felt like I was right there with Lilah. I even tasted her chips and smelled Kane's cologne and felt the moist ocean air. Amazingly written. Some might even say that the detailing was a bit too much, but I really liked it!

Ok - that's it.
Really great book. There's nothing more I could think of to say - there is lots I could say - but I don't want to spoil too much - you need to read it!!!

If you want to compare it to a TV Show, I would say it's a mix of Criminal Minds & Revenge!
I wouldn't mind seeing this on Netflix one day!!! I really need to see Kane!! ☺

MURDER NOTES was such an amazingly exciting & beautifully written mystery thriller! Run to your nearest amazon to find out if and how Lilah will catch the bad guys!

"The devil is in the details."

Murder Notes by Lisa Renee Jones was a fast, thrilling, suspenseful read. A murder mystery, a who done it type of novel.

Years ago terror spread across the Hamptons. Lilah's life forever changed, and she is trying to move on with her life being an FBI profiler. With moving away from her hometown she thought she could escape the towns demons.... or so she thought.

A series of murders puts Lilah's life on the line.

And soon she races against the clock to figure out why the killer is tracing the murders to her. She must find the killer and fast, to protect not only her career, and loved ones. But with all the evidence pointing to her, people are suspicious. She can't trust anybody, without them turning her in for a crime she didn't commit.

The killer is rather crafty, and is always one step ahead of Lilah.
Tracking her moves, and plotting her demise.

But who could it be?
Why is someone out to take down Lilah?
And let's not forget Kane... her bad boy of an ex, who plays a rather key role in this novel.....
What does he have to hide? or rather Lilah what is she not telling us?

Read to find out!

Murder Notes is deliciously addictive, Lilah Love is scorching hot, and my new favorite kind of unlikely badass heroine.

Lisa Renee Jones nailed her new venture in Murder Notes, I was enthralled page 1, and am impatiently awaiting more Lilah Love in book 2.

Wow. If you love a good suspenseful romance, crime solving thrillers, a strong female lead or even a book that leaves you guessing then Murder Notes is a winner. You get that and then some in this fantastic new start of the Lilah Love series. Just wow. Lisa Renee Jones knows how to keep you on the edge of your seats the entire time you are reading Murder Notes. Lilah is one kicka$$ FBI profiler. I really can't wait to dive into her mind more as this series goes on. I have a feeling we're just getting started with how her mind works as the case go on. Lilah is haunted and complex yet brilliant. Kane is may be part of Lilah's past but they have a connection that i can't wait to see unfold further. Between Lilah's family and the rest of the people from her past you wonder what kind of can of worms will be open next. Yes you get left with a cliffhanger but what a way to end it. I really can't wait for the next Lilah Love book. I have a feeling that this series is just going to blow minds. A MUST READ.

Engaging. Power. Money. Lies. Secrets

Murder Notes is a very big surprise from Lisa, who had used us with her hot – steamy books. I never thought I’d read such books by her. M.N. reminds me a lot of my favorite tv show Rizzoli & Isles.

This new series by LRJ is like nothing you’ve ever read by her. She had outdone herself with this series, but then again, when doesn’t she?!

I simply just don't know what to say about this new series. It left speachless and IT doesn't happen very often that book renders me speachless.

FBI agent in the crime division and a secret that threatens to be disclosed by someone who’s on her tail since she arrived back home in The Hamptons. He will come haunt her down, just like wild predators do their catch. It feels like all the crimes contain a subtle message for her.

An old flame, rekindles herself...but will IT stay that way ?! Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

And once again...WOW !!!!! Congrats,Lisa for this new and amazingly thrilling series !

A FBI profiler had to face the shadows of her past through a series of murders, reminding her that whatever you hide, the truth will always comes out.

Lilah Love was running away for a while. The past collided with the present and probably getting her more in danger than ever. Getting back where everything started, a place where no one can be trusted, lies and secrets, between a war of politics and power.

This woman got more baggage and issues that would make anyone run away, having a name that often being taken as a joke, definitely not what she seemed in the first place, putting people at distance and obsessed about getting the murderer out, putting herself in danger.
In that mess that was her life, add an ex lover, enemies and family that might be the one behind, hiding in the shadows.

The mystery was on point, the tension between the characters palpable. I enjoyed the banter, the confined and mistrusted atmosphere, driving the reader from one lead to another one, unraveling in one hand some mystery around Lilah’s past and adding in the other hand more questions, suspicions in her case.

All I’ve wanted throughout the story was to solve the mystery with Lilah, following her in this quest to find all the answers buried for so long, the why’s. That story definitely kept my interest, driving a bit mad at times, thinking about every detail, trying to be on Lilah's shoes. I was totally captivated by this investigation and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Nooooo! Of course, Murder Notes ends on a cliffie! This book is oh so good! I couldn’t wait to get to this book. Murder Notes is a new suspense series. Lilah Love is an FBI profiler. She thinks like a killer to solve murders. Good thing she is good at her job. Lilah goes back to her hometown to find a killer. Where her father is Mayor and her brother is the Police Chief. And, she knows the local crime lord’s son Kane Mendez who is suspect of these murders. She knows him intimately and they share a deep dark and devastating secret. And, the story goes on from there.

I love this new series. There is just enough suspense and romance that keeps this book interesting. It’s a page turner!
I give it 4.5 Stars and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Murder Notes is the first novel in the Lilah Love series. I do love a good murder mystery and I also enjoy Lisa Renee Jones’s words so I just had to have this book. A thriller with a badass woman FBI agent? Sign me up!

Lilah Love is great at her job as an FBI profiler so when bodies show up that seems to be connected, it’s time for her to get to work. The bodies don’t bother her. It’s the blood. It brings her back to the past. The one she ran away from to California. And now, she has to go back. To her hometown in the Hamptons where her family is like royalty. Her father was mayor. Her brother is the law. Her mother was a famous actress. There is no way she can go back there without being noticed. Especially when the minute she lands he is told there is a body waiting for her. Is there a connection with the other three murders? Two on the East coast, two on the West. And does this have any thing to do with her?

Hamptons. Exes. CEO’s. Women. Corruption. Politics. Sex. Love. Hate. Secrets. Tattoos. Murder. Family. Notes. This is what it’s all about. I can’t get too much into the story but I can say that you will get hooked into the mystery of it all.

Murder Notes is a great start to a new series! Lilah is strong but has her weaknesses. She is human after-all. I do think she is a badass who has to look at every angle with everyone she meets. She reads people. That is what she does. Will she find the killer before it’s too late?

Overall...I was hooked from the very start. I will give you some advice...take notes! There are many people on the list of suspects. And don’t worry, there are some heated moments as well. Also some humor.

This book! OMG.... What a fantastic new kind of book for Lisa. I so in LOVE with Agent Love. She is just a strong, brilliant, fearless, woman who speaks her mind and does her job well. There are many secrets in her life and she is running from them, but has she? Has she gotten away from them or have they been following her and just waiting in the background to surface and turn her world upside down? Murder Girl.... a name that was given to her when she was in the NYPD, it stuck and the FBI lover her skills. She is good at what she does, she gets into the killers mind, finds out how they tick. Do her secrets help her understand them? There are murders in LA, NYC, do they connect? She is sent to NYC to do some investigating... only to have a surprise waiting for her when she arrives in her hometown. Now the nightmares she has been trying to forget all come rushing back along with everything in her past... ex-boyfriends, friends, family, drug cartels, Hollywood stars and drama that comes with that come fast and hard! These. murders she is investigating, are they connected to her past?

CAN NOT wait for book 2 to come out. It is the best book I have read all year. AMAZING!

Lilah Love is an FBI profiler and she is great at her job. When a series of murders starts to hit too close to the secret she has kept close, she must return home to try to solve the murders without anymore happening. She believes this is the work of an assassin not a serial killer. Lilah having to return home puts her directly in the path with the local crime lord’s son, Kane Mendez. The two share soul thirsting love and a devastating secret; only Kane understands the darkness inside her and who she is inside. As more clues surface Liliah must decide to get inside the mind of this person or become the next target?

Wow. Just wow. This has got to be o e of the best books I have read in a long time. And the ending is one to make sure the reader has to read the next book.

Lilah Love is such a great name and the comedy that comes with it make all the tense moments have the smallest break. And there are a lot of tense moments.

This was a book I lost sleep over. One i had a difficult time putting down. But anytime I see a book by Lisa I know I have to read it. This was no exception.

Read it.. you will not be disappointed.
