Wow, I loved this book. I haven't read a good murder mystery thriller like this in awhile, In fact the last one I read was also by Lisa Renee Jones. I really like the main character Lilah, she is so complex and feisty even with things from her past haunting her. Can she trust anyone, family, friends or past lovers? This is part of a duet, I can't wait to read the next book. I was hooked from start to finish with this one.
Actual Rating: 4.5 Thrilling Stars!
"He's watching me the way he's always watched me, the way he watches everyone. Like they're all that matters. Like he cares about nothing else. It's the way he seduces people. It's the way he destroys people, but everyone who destroys eventually gets destroyed."
"This is where you belong, Lilah Love. You've been gone too long."

I enjoyed everything about this book from beginning to end. I am super excited for this series and can not wait to get my hands on the next book!
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
Haven’t heard of this book before?? Well let me tell you ..GO PRE ORDER ASAP!!! And Murder Girl too.. trust me! You’re gonna want to!!
Murder Notes is beyond what i could have ever expected. Arguably some of Lisa’s best work to date!! What a ride!!! I love a good Murder mystery. It’s one of the the elements of Lisa Renee Jones books I love so much. The fact that this is ALL murder mystery.. thrilled me, it took hold, and threw me right into the belly of this story. I’m trying to solve this case right along with her. So many unexpected turns.
Lilah Love is such a strong character. Bad ass FBI agent with a secret to hide, and a person to protect.
The world she ends up in, the cases she is trying to solve , they have my head spinning! I have no idea what will happen next BUT I’ll be counting down the days till Murder Girl is out!!
JUST WOW!!!!!!
Amazing characters, amazing story. Easily 10 Stars!!
This book is fresh, smart & keeps you guessing at every turn. Meet Lilah Love, an FBI profiler who has a gift for her job but also carries the weight of her secrets. Lilah is called to investigate a possible serial killer when she finds herself coming face to face with her past and the secrets she has been hiding from for the past 2 years. No one is immune from suspicion, friends become enemies, and lies seem to multiple. This is an incredible journey seen through the eyes of Lilah and the raw emotions she tries but fails to keep silent. Clues swirl around like a whirlwind as Lilah goes head on, gun aimed high to catch a killer and maybe find some answers for herself!
5 PHENOMENAL SUSPENSE STARS!! Wow, just wow, I was on the edge of my seat with this page flipping suspense thriller. Lilah is a beautiful strong FBI Profiler with a messed up past, that gets sent home for a case she is working on. This book is so well written it is like watching a movie, you start seeing the scenes in your head play out. Lisa Renee Jones is one of my favorite authors and never lets me down and this book is phenomenal, I can't wait for the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book via publisher from NetGalley.
As a HUGE Lisa Renee Jones fan I am excited she is bringing us a new Suspense series. Murder Notes was not what I was expecting it to be! I FLOVE the book and let me tell you friends, it has a smidge of romance, but the suspense and mystery of the story will have you glued to the book. I love trying to figure out who is involved with the good and the bad. I am all over the place with the who and what.
Let's talk about the characters. I was on the fence when it comes to Kane. I am not sure if he is the best for Lilah or the worst for her. He is definitely a mystery that I can not figure out yet! Lilah is the best character to play as this story's heroine. She has demons that haunt her. But she trudges on and is doing the best that she can. The story plot is amazing! I could not get enough of this book!!! I have a new addiction with this series. I can not wait for Murder Girl!
The ending was perfect! I still have no clue who is behind the murders. I was left with my jaw dropped to the floor. Lisa has outdone herself as always. Murder Notes is my top ten best in Suspense!!
I was given a copy of this book from the publisher.
Holy cow. Holy cow! I want to repeat that a third time. Just. Holy cow. Lisa Renee Jones (LRJ) should write more books like this one.
Obviously there’s more coming in this series but hot dog(!) the background and suspense in this book are killer. Haha. See what I did there?
Anyway. This romantic suspense will feed both lives of mysteries and romance. There’s not a lot of romance included in this particular book. Worked for me. I really enjoy the mystery/suspense.
I’m still reeling trying to figure out who’s going to bite the dust next! What will Lilah stumble on next. I almost need my own story board for this one. It’s complex amount of connected but not connected characters. Family secrets. Pay offs. Scare tactics. You name it.
Oh what a joy it was to read this first book in LRJ’s new series. I can hardly wait for the next.
Putting this review into words is very difficult right now because the only thing my brain is doing is screaming "I need more!"
This book takes you on twists and turns through secrets and murder, and I loved every second of it. It follows Lilah Love, a FBI agent with a big secret, as she heads back to her hometown after being led there by a killer. Told completely in Lilah's POV, it weaves a tale so suspenseful you'll catch yourself checking your locks and looking out for a stalker.
As much as I was dying for answers and wanted so bad to just skip to the end, I actually thought the slower pace of the story was perfect. It added so much intrigue and gave me time to try and figure out what all the secrets were. I loved that it captivated me so much and had me on the edge the entire time. There was always something happening between these pages that had me questioning everything.
For some reason I actually haven't read Lisa Renee Jones in a long time and it's something I'm regretting very much right now. This book brought back every reason that I love her writing. She has the ability to write so much information into a story without it ever being too wordy, and instead it just keeps me on the edge of my seat. I'm already dying to read the next installment of the Lila Love series and I'm not ashamed to beg for it.
This is truly amazing. This is not a normal read for me as I do prefer more romance and sex in my stories. However, there is so much intrigue, mystery, drama, with a little romantic undertone to this story that you just can't stop reading until you find out more! I received an advance copy from the author and publisher and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I don't know where to begin with this review. I just want to say it was AMAZING so go forth and read it ASAP (or rather in March, when it's published *lol*). I can't believe I was so late to the game with this author. Every single book I have read since I discovered her (four) have been outstanding, and this one was no different in that respect. I have no idea how the author expects me just to sit here patiently waiting for book two??
So deets...this wasn't really a romance book. I wouldn't even say it was a romantic suspense book. More a thriller with some romantic undertones. So don't go into it expecting some hot sex. There is only one sex scene, and it was very tame. The romance reader in me struggled with this and one other issue (Samantha). I think it's hard sometimes when you read a lot of romance to separate expectations. Especially when the book has some romantic undertones. I am not even sure if that makes sense, but "I" wanted more sex and I could have done without the whole "Samantha" scenario. <--- that's the romance reader talking. Both were small issues that genuinely shouldn't have bothered me but like I said I struggled to separate my feelings in this case, so they did.
That said, I found this one to be fantastically well written and well paced. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. I LOVE all things serial killer, profiling, criminal minds, etc. I eat TV shows like that up by the spoonful, and this book would make a fabulous TV series for sure. The plot was intricate and full of twists and turns. The author does an excellent job of laying the groundwork for what I can only assume will be an epic and far-reaching conspiracy. There is a full cast of characters that make up this book. Each one intriguing. Each one mysterious. Each one potentially hiding secrets. My mind is a bit of a muddle trying to figure out who is doing what and why. Who is dirty? Who isn't? Some I loved. Some I hated. Some remain a mystery waiting to be exposed. Kane I LOVED. Who doesn't love a smokin' hot bad boy? But what is he hiding? Can he be trusted? Lilah I ADORED. I struggle with alpha heroines A LOT, but Lilah just worked for me on every level. She was strong. She was feisty. She was funny. She was badass. But she was also vulnerable especially when it came to Kane. The only man that has ever understood her. Last, we were left with a decent cliffhanger that will make you want to hunt down this author and force her to give you book two tout suite!
All in all, this was a fantastic first book in a series I am sure will blow a lot of readers right out of the water. Therefore yours truly will give this one two HUGE thumbs up.
"The devil is in the details."
Being a Criminal Minds addict and an armchair profiler I enjoyed the hell out of reading Murder Notes. The story is told in Lilah's POV, and there's no denying she's badass. But she's also damaged. Her demons are chasing her and her nightmares are worse than the bloody crime scenes she works as an FBI profiler. In true Lisa Renee Jones style, she weaves a web of secrets and lies leading to an epic finale that we can only imagine in these early stages. As she lays the groundwork and introduces the players my imagination is going wild and my excitement is out of control as I anticipate what is coming next.
Lilah has been away from her hometown for two years. She's running from her past and keeping herself occupied with solving cases. Not even her co-workers understand her ability to get into the heads of the killers to analyze their behavior and read between the lines. There's only one person who has ever understood her, and she left him behind. She left everyone behind. She doesn't want anyone asking questions or reminding her of what happened.
Kane is her past, but he doesn't stay there once her job takes her back to her hometown. You'd think that their two years away from each other would make them strangers, but it doesn't. They still know each other's secrets and have the ability to speak without words. She tells him she hates him. But even I know she's lying.
Of course, I want all my questions answered NOW! But I knew going in that the author would tease me within an inch of my life and leave me hanging. She's known for doing that, and the fact that I come back for more every time proves that she's damn good at it, and that I'll keep doing it. I can't wait to go back to "Otherland" with Lilah Love when Murder Girl is released. The line forms here...
