this book seemed to be stating facts more than working through the emotional turmoil.
The engagement with the characters felt limited and I didn't really care how it finished, so I stopped reading.

What a wonderful romance between Fran and Paul. Loved everything about this past/present tale of love. Took no time at all to get engrossed. Definitely recommended.
This book is ok. It is a modern love story. Fran and Paul are about to get married. Paul pops out to get some cash and is violently attacked. In the hospital Fran sits by his bedside and remembers how they grew up as friends and then fell in love. When there is no hope of Paul regaining conscious, Fran wonders how she will live without him. Read on.
An intense heart-wrenching love story is a joy forever, no matter how much it makes us cry. Such is the story of Paul and Fran.
On the day of elopement, Paul is ill and in a coma. And it is Fran who is the one waiting, wanting to know whether he would survive or not. By the bedside, waiting for the love of your life to come back to you, Fran starts reminiscencing, her memories, the beginning of her life with Paul, the day when she met him.
My first book by Laura Danks, the story is narrated in the past and present, to show the depth of their love. It is Fran to whom my heart went to, as waiting for a loved one to open their eyes is the most difficult thing to do. I generally don't read love stories, but this book captured me with its young love.
An intense romantic love story, with a depth of relationship, where their emotions break the heart and cause tears to flow, where hope abounds even in the face of despair. A heartwarming love story, with it's own twists make this a wonderful story.
Wow, this book provided quite the rollercoaster ride. It was well written, although there were grammatical errors, possible due to the fact that it was an ARC I was reading from. But, the story was moving and very emotional. It definitely tugged at the heartstrings. And, at first, as I neared the end and realized I wasn't going to get the ending I had been hoping for, I was a little angry. But, the story leaves you with a happy ever after ending, just not the way you would expect.
Fran and Paul had loved each other since they were very young. They had been great friends and even better lovers. Paul was tragically injured on on his wedding day and most of the book is spent in the hospital with Paul in a coma and Francesca reflecting on memories she had of their time together. You can see from these flashbacks how long they have loved each other and deep their love goes. You can almost believe that love endures forever and that love never dies.
I was given an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The police are not sure what happened to Paul and the doctors aren’t sure about his prognosis as they don’t know when and if Paul will ever wake up. THe police think that Paul walked in on a robbery but they weren’t sure. Fran isn’t sure if she’ll be able to survive if Paul dies and he is hanging on by a thread. Georgie- Fran’s best friend since preschool came in and woke Fran up as she had been dozing as she sat waiting. Georgie didn't know what to say or do to make it better fr Fran but she was at least there to hold her and comfort her the best she could. But at the very least she was there. Fran’s heart is breaking that Paul who is her fiance is fighting for his life. Especially since they were supposed to go to the states and marry in Vegas but not on the strip. They weren’t going to marry that day if ever. Albert who is Paul’s father and is on his way as is his younger brother Harry. Fran has know this rich family since childhood. Albert had just lost his beloved wife Josephine the year before. And it had broke him even though Josephine had been sick as long as Fran could remember. Fran is being swallowed by her memories - it was a few weeks before her eighth birthday. Fran’s older sister got an unexpected summer job helping the nanay over the boys as she had broken her foot. As her sister didn’t have time t find someone to watch Fran at such short notice Fran was allowed to go with her older sister. Fram thinks about the day she had met Paul, Harry, and Josephine and her life entwined with the FitzRoys. The FitzRoys lived less than a mile from Fran’s home. Fran always knew Paul was the one. But then there was a misunderstanding and they stayed away from each other. But even though they fought to stay away from each other their feelings still grew. They overcame the misunderstanding and they had been ready to elope to Vegas not long after they got engaged. Now they would not be a wedding at least not right away if at all. Paul ended up in the hospital the very day they were to marry. But Fran stayed by the man she loved and wouldn’t give up hope.
I loved this book and I also loved the plot and pace. I didn’t mind the back and forth between the past and the present like I usually do when reading but that is because of the way the author wrote this so I did think this was well written also. I also felt this was realistic for the most part. What a roller coaster of emotions you go through reading this awesome book. As sad as it was at times what a wonderful romance. I shed several tears while reading this so have your tissues ready. I loved how Fran refused to give up hope on Paul and their love. This really pulls at your heartstrings for sure. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this story and I highly recommend.
Going into this I was not to sure what to expect, given the blurb I really wasn’t sure 20171228_150133.jpgwhich direction the story would take and by that I mean would it be a focus on the accident, the aftermath, the recovery, how individuals deal with tragedy, I really wasn’t sure, turns out more then anything this book is a love story. A really gooey romantic coming of age kinda love story.
Now the story itself is really well written as I got to know both Paul and Fran and how their lives entwined. Definitely a romance novel the type of love and connection that the author was describing was one that seemed to literally come straight off the page and hit you in the face. However it still managed to remain for the most part believable with the actions, choices and emotions from both of the characters. I also really enjoyed the depth of the story and the characters and hadn’t really been expecting it when I started the book.
The book is relatively fast paced, though given the nature of the story-line it is one that focuses heavily on emotion so if that isn’t really your thing I wouldn’t recommend, however if your one that really relishes exploring romance, emotion and most things gushy I’m sure this is one you will enjoy. I will admit that it definitely had me crying at points and I did think that it did have a fairly satisfying if not a bit predictable ending.
