I was thrilled to get a chance to read another Milly Johnson. Her covers are always so enticing and I rarely don't love one of her books. Thankfully this latest one is a wonderful read and I devoured it in just two sittings. Marnie Salt has an okay job, and when she meets a guy from work things seem to be going swimmingly. She then has a chance encounter with a lady online named Lillian. When Marnie and Lillian finally meet up, a few things happen to Marnie which have a massive impact on her life and she finds herself living in the village of Wychwell, where Lillian is none other than Lady of The Manor.
Wychwell seems to be something of a fresh start for Marnie however it soon becomes apparent that the village of Wychwall is not like other places and it has its very own rules and regulations which the villagers ensure Marnie is aware of. I'm reluctant to share any more of the storyline as this book is I feel a bit of a departure from the norm. The story may seem like it goes in one direction but there are actually a number of sub plots running through all of which captured my attention.
The characters are again both likeable and extremely readable, making for the perfect read. The characters are again slightly different from the normal characters you would expect and it makes the book so much more engaging. I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it to anybody.

Marnie Salt has been very unlucky in love, so after her latest boyfriend turns out to be very much married, she gives up her job and accepts the offer of Lillian, an elderly lady she met online discussing cheesecakes, and moves to Wychwell, in Yorkshire. Some of the villagers welcome her with open arms, while others are jealous of her and try to send her away. While Marnie adapts to life in the village she also has to deal with ghosts from her past, including her mother's continual disapproval. And as Marnie starts a new life, she swears off men, but it is not easy when an handsome and sweet Norwegian handyman seems really interested in her.
This was such an enjoyable read. If you love cheesecakes, this book will make your mouth water with all the beautiful and tasty cheesecakes that Marnie prepares. The characters are engaging and (mostly) likable and I liked how the female characters are described as strong and determined women who stand up for themselves. At times hilarious and at times moving, this is a charming and heartwarming novel and I can't wait to read the author's next book.

Yet another fabulous book from Millie where we can all get embroiled in the storyline. It's like being in the midst of all that is going on yourself.
Marnie Salt is the main character that has lived her life through 'hard times' only to eventually find herself in the middle of village life with all it's happenings and Wychwell is where she finds her true self.
Millie has once again surpassed herself and The Perfectly Imperfect Woman is a must read if you want to experience the magic f Marnie's journey.

I really love Milly Johnson books and this was as usual an extremely entertaining read.
Marnie worked at a company where she was head of a department. After starting a relationship with a guy who worked there, who turned out to be a married lying rat, Marnie turned tail and ran after an embarrassing incident in the office, leaving her job and not long after her home.
Whilst drowning her sorrows at home one night she ended up in a chatroom dedicated to cheesecake, she started chatting to an older lady called Lilian, and they struck up a friendship and ended up meeting. As it turned out Lilian lived in a manor house and owned a whole village in Yorkshire. Marnie ends up visiting and then living there after a bit of persuasion from Lilian. Marnie was adopted and didn't know her real parents, although she looked very much like one of the pictures on the wall in The Manor House, very intriguing! And her adopted family were just awful, so a new start was just what Marnie needed.
Marnie ended up starting her own cheesecake making business from home and supplying a local chain of tea shops, whilst slowly feeling more and more at home in her little cottage and Wychwell. Due to some unfortunate circumstances she then ended up, initially reluctantly, as manager of the Manor House in Whycwell and had to start changing things to make some money as the coffers were completely bare, putting a lot of peoples backs up in the village who had had life far too easy for far too long.
The only bit that irritated me was the way Marnie continually blamed herself for having a relationship with the lying rat and didn't defend herself, on more than one occasion. It's not as if it was her fault and leaving her job and home was a bit over the top in my opinion, although if she hadn't left she wouldn't have changed her life completely, so it all worked out for the best. Apart from that this was a wonderful book, full of little side stories, great characters, good overcoming evil and family secrets. You are never bored with a Milly Johnson book and end up feeling really good at the end of it. I'm still intrigued about a few things too and really feel this book could easily have a sequel. Write quicker please Milly!

Missed the download date sorry. But will be sure to buy and review the book.

I ended the first chapter craving cheesecake, the next wanting a loving friend like Lillian. After a late night wine session on the internet Marnie finds herself with a hangover and revealing her life to a stranger on a cheesecake forum. This starts the ride of village life with all its whisperings, secrets and noisy neighbours.
I thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn, just when I thought I had worked it all out I was completely wrong. I read out passages to my husband, ignored housework and walked around with my kindle in hand. I devoured this book like a triple chocolate cheesecake with extra thick base. I would press this into your hand and tell you to enjoy a delicious second helping with cream, a pleasure to read from page 1.

There is a bit of everything in this story, fun, mystery, cheesecake, gumption and a fantastic plot. I enjoyed every but of this story.

Have you ever had one (or two) too many and said more than you should have to a total stranger?
Well Marnie Salt did, although the stranger was an old lady she chatted with in a baking forum. They arranged to meet for lunch and got on fabulously. The dear old lady was quite a character and Marnie found herself spending her Bank Holiday in the strange village of Wychwell and from that point onwards her life would never be the same.
We share the pain, the joys, the laughter and the love of the delightful Marnie, Lilian and more.
This is another delightful book from the fabulously talented Milly Johnson.

Loved, loved, loved this book. Not a lot else that I can say. I devoured it all in almost one sitting. This is definitely Milly Johnson at her best - packed with humour & left me craving cheesecake

Thankyou for providing me with this book.
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would due to the fact the beginning was very fast paced en didn't give me any clue about where the story would be about. Further reading gave me heads up and understanding. Therefore I thought the beginning was actually the perfect beginning to startle a new reader.
Marnie has had a difficult life which is out perfecty written. There is also much going on in the story. Not only Marnies life but also the mystery and people in Wychwell. I do believe the author did a very well job by putting realistic scenes and enough details to make the story believable. These details made sure I was allowed to make up a scene in my bed.
Sometimes the story switched from character. I couldnt always foreseeit and understand it.
Overall, I do think it's a great story with much potential about humor, feelgood, romance and some mystery. Due to the fact I quite didn't feel the story as I do with other books I gave this book 3,5 stars.

I've read other books by Milly Johnson and I thought "The Perfectly Imperfect Woman" to be of the same high standard. I loved Marnie, the main character, and my heart went out to her reading how badly treated she was by key people in her life. Her developing friendship with Lilian, her move to the village of Wychwell, and her decision to bake cheesecakes all made for a satisfying read. There's a lot going on in this book, lots of subplots, but despite that I would have liked to have seen at least one more character get their comeuppance, and for there to have been a little more action in the romance department for Marnie. I also wish the subplot regarding Marnie's parentage had had a different outcome, but all in all an enjoyable read.
With thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am a massive fan of this Author, and each book i worry it won't be as good as her last, but every book is better than the last. i dont want to give anything away, but this is a wonderful story of love, friendship and accepting your flaws

I really loved this book. It made me feel good, it is well written and the characters are really likeable. I hope to read other books from this writer.
Many thanks to Simon and Schuster UK Fiction and Netgalley

What a book! In part its an ode to a cheesecake, in parts it is the history of a small village in Yorkshire with all of the myths surrounding it, in parts its a story about a realistic main character who has her flaws, but ultimately has a good heart and in parts it is so many other things I can't sit here listing its merits all day!
I absolutely loved this book, it took the reader on a rather unexpected journey, it has a few surprises along the way and generally was incredibly gripping throughout.
The way Marnie first met Lillian is certainly amusing and memorable, and learning all about the village of Wychwell was interesting. I will say there are a fair few villagers that I really disliked but with a sort of enjoyment to my dislike of them. They weren't main characters but did add an extra dimension to the story.
There are so many storylines and subplots in this book that I could take all day just trying to tell you about them. Instead I will say there is plenty in there for everyone, I was never confused, and I loved seeing this look at Marnie's life and how it changed over a period of time.
This is an excellent book from Milly Johnson, its just a shame it had to finish. There are some really funny bits, some more emotional sections, it touches on issues such as adoption, there are secrets to be revealed and its just an all around fabulous book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I enjoyed this perfectly delightful story of imperfect characters who were full of surprises and drew me into their village life. I've eaten several slices of cheesecake whilst reading it and would love to taste a sample of Marnie's with its secret ingredient.. I raced through the book enjoying it's twists and turns and ,I won't include spoilers, but I loved the uplifting ending. Millie Johnson can tell a great story and her characters are always compelling and heartwarming.

I love Milly Johnson books and this one is no exception, in fact I would go so far as saying this is my favourite yet!!! I read it in the one night staying up to the wee small hours to devour every word. I felt the characters come alive on the pages of the book.
It’s got everything: goodies, baddies, love, hate, mystery and a little bit of magic. I felt a real connection with the characters and fell in love with the village. I loved how the main characters’ stories unfurled bit by bit.
Marnie has had a tough life - unloved by her family this carries on to her adult life and she makes bad choices in her relationships always drawn to men who are no good for her. At the start of the book, she is Department Head in the company she works for but then she falls hook, line and sinker for her new boss Justin Fox who feeds her the usual lines. One excruciating embarrassing moment later and Marnie flees the job she loves and moves temporarily to the small village of Wychwell where she meets a wealth of characters, some good and some bad. I don’t want to spoil the read for you by divulging anymore about it - so clear your diary, curl up on your favourite chair with a hot drink and this book and enjoy!!! The only disappointment with books such as these are that they need to come to an end 😥.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and Milly Johnson for an ARC of this joyous book!!!

I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with the characters (and cheesecake) instantly, willing Marnie to do well. Lillian was just lovely and the village was described so well I could imagine it. There were twists and turns along the way, which I never saw coming. It was just brilliant! Having been brought up in a village, the characters were brilliant and just like a real village. Molly's books just get better!!!

After a few too many mistakes, and glasses of wine, Marnie Salt finds herself confiding her inner most secrets to an elderly lady in a baking chatroom. But little does she know how much this chance encounter will change her life.
Arranging to meet each other for lunch, Marnie is delighted to find Lillian every bit as mad as she’d hoped – and the owner of an entire village in the Yorkshires Dales. When Marnie’s latest error of judgment turns into a full-blown crisis, she seeks out Lillian and temporary refuge at Wychwell.
However, she finds the beauty of Wychwell has claimed her and soon she is duty bound not to leave. With a mammoth task ahead of her, Marnie must use every bit of strength and courage she has left to convince a handful of not so welcoming villagers she’s the right girl for the job.
Can Marnie prove her worth and become an asset to village life, rather than an unpopular interloper?
Johnson always manages to hit high on the feel-good factor chart, and this book is no exception. Wonderfully vivid characters, a perfectly rural setting and a heart-warming plot line to boot!
This story was full of emotions, there would be sadness followed by anger and then happiness and laugh out loud humour within the turn of a page.
Delivered with flawless, flowing writing as always, this book is not your usual rom-com but also encompasses a little mystery along the way.
If you are looking for a light-hearted read to immerse yourself in…look no further!

What a great escapist read. If you need to get stuck into a book this is it. The writing is phenomenal and an excellent fiction story to boost.
We have Marnie who isn't have the best time and has never been treated right. Even as she's an adult... but she meets an older lady online, Lillian and she's very quirky, they hit it off and become great friends. Then Marnie needs to escape her home town and Lillian is there to help her... Wychwell is an odd little idyllic village that is all Lillians. It's bizarre and there's a bizarre story circling around that Marnie maybe Lillians birth daughter... the looks are uncany. Lillian dies, marines mother dies and Lillians best friend died all within a few weeks. There's a brilliant story to read which you get to in the last 10 chapters.

The Perfectly Imperfect Woman is the new fantastic book by Milly Johnson.
Marnie Salt’s life doesn’t always run according to plan, she had a tumultuous childhood, her love life is a disaster, but she loves her job as a manager at a beverage company until one day an incident at work has her running for the hills.
Lillian owns the village of Wychwell, she has previously met Marnie on an online cheesecake forum and one drunken night Marnie pours her heart out to her, Lillian offers Marnie a refuge, she should come and live in Raspberries Cottage in Wychwell. Marnie soon discovers that there is more to this quiet little village.
An excellent story with interesting and colourful characters, there are also a couple of very good twists. An enjoyable book which combines love, friendship, romance and intrigue. Another wonderful Milly Johnson book which I recommend.
