This book is a charming and fun romance that’s perfect for anyone who loves a good love story with a modern twist. "Perfect Match" isn’t just about finding love. It’s also about self-discovery and finding confidence in who you are. Sophia’s journey is as much about her finding the right guy as it is about her learning to love herself.
I really loved this book. I have never read anything by Zoe before, but I knew just reading the synopsis that I would love this storyline. It was so nice to get to know the character of Sophia, and to follow her on her journey of growth throughout the story.
Sophia is so caught up in meeting her ‘perfect match’ and yet when the perfect guy comes along in the form of Chris, Sophia totally dismisses him, seeing him as far too geeky and nerdy for her. With every chapter, I found myself liking Chris more and more, and almost willing Sophia to see him for the funny, kin and caring guy he is.
Perfect Match is a a perfect feel-good story about love and life, and understanding that there is so much more to people than what is on the outside – it is whats on the inside that really matters.
Such a cute and funny read!

A book about perfection and imperfection, about expectations and reality, about superficiality and essence.
Sophia has tried every online dating site ever, but it doesn't seem to be working: she can't find that perfect man for her, someone that shakes her world at first sight, the absolute ONE.
So, drunkly joking and with the help of her best friend, she sets up the most blunt and hilarious dating profile, requesting for a millionaire philanthropist who is also a Robert Pattinson lookalike.
And, surprisingly, she gets one.
This book was mostly hilarious, and the few moments I was getting angry with the development it fixed itself, proving I'm too quick to judge.
Sophia, the heroine, is dreamy and a little forward sometimes, and she's mostly nice but a little hard to like in the beginning. However, as the pages passed, she grew and learned a lot, and I really like who she ended up being. And her friends were really cool, so no complains.
Most of the book was a four stars. The ending was definitely a five. So I guess I'm settling in a 4.5 🌟
.
(I guess the profussion of exclamation marks was a bit too much sometimes, the only thing about the writing that I didn't really like.)
The most I like of Zoe's books is her writing style, I can always identify with the main charater, in this case Sophia Jones.
This is the perfect uplifting romcom addresses for everyone who wants to spend a fun time while they are looking for their perfect match through online dating.
Just only one thing: be careful with the man you desire because he could appear and maybe you don't like him at all.
Sophie Jones has used all the notable dating apps to try to find her own Mr Right, without success. With all her friends paired up, she’s feeling particularly frustrated at not finding love. She has had enough but her flat mate convinces her to try one more site and create a profile describing her perfect match. She doesn’t expect success but then someone who appears to tick all her boxes contacts her. Is this her dream partner or will it turn out to be a nightmare in disguise?
This is a heartwarming story of looking for love in the digital age. It is one about dreams, expectations, reality and romance. There are plenty of disastrous dates, a surprise friendship, new relationships and laughs galore in this romantic comedy. Be ready for anything as you read this delightful story which also includes Sophie reevaluating her life, her choices and her expectations, trying new things and, of course, seeking her HEA.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
A romantic comedy with lovely characters but unfortunately there are many moments and times in the book where I just couldn’t get myself keeping reading because it felt very superficial and not at all what I thought.
Many people will enjoy it for sure but unfortunately it wasn’t one that I will remember.
I found this book to be shallow and vapid just like the main character. I thought this was a romantic comedy and while I laughed at some of the dates, I hated the transpobia remarks. It was really gross and not funny at all. It completely ruined my opinion of the book since it got to a point that just wasn't having it anymore. I get that Sophia is supposed to become more aware but it does not have to be at the expense of other people who already have a lot going on. Also, the representation of all kinds of people wasn't there for me. Another thing that really bothered me was that she kept saying that Daniel looked like Robert Pattinson. and while I appreciate the visual for characterization, the constant reminders were gross since Robert Pattinson is a real person. The romance felt forced and I hated it.
I wanted to love this book so much. It started out great with good humor and laugh out loud moments. I really enjoy reading books about online dating because I found my husband that way and golly do I remember the train wrecks and horror stories. I probably will til the day I die. The Perfect Match had me up until we start to realize just how superficial the main character is. Then she gets mad at the guy for being exactly like her except in reverse.
It's nice at the end that she starts to realize that she's super shallow and needs to change but by then I was already just so annoyed with her I would have rather read her getting hit by a bus than getting a happy ending. 🤷
This book is made up of 26 awesome chapters. I mean it was the kind of book that from the first page I knew I was going to like this book and easily get sucked into its pages. I'm so glad that my first impression was correct. This book is well written which makes it easy for the reader to fly through the chapters.
One thing that was brilliant about this book is that it doesn't only focus on the romantic relationship aspect, it also holds a focus on Sophia and her friends. I loved seeing these friendships with Lyn and Kate on the page. You see them develop and are told the backstory so you have the context to know how they came to be.
When it comes to the romance this book has it in spades. There is a little bit of mystery in the romance aspect, i thought but it really added to the story. This book wasn't a cut and dried romance where you can see how it is going to end. This aspect made a book a refreshing change compared to other romances I have read. There are also some funny parts that are interlinked to the romance.
My final thoughts on this book is that it is a very good book, that deserves a read. Not only is their romance but friendship and a mention of a book that is on this reviewer's to read list. .
Thoroughly enjoyable, this is a gentle story of internet dating and finding the wrong - and right - person. The characters are great, well written, and the dialogue is perfect. Some of the more quirky characters raise a smile.
Whilst the story itself is nothing new and slightly predictable, it really doesn’t matter - this is a cheery, quick read that keeps the pages turning.
After reading As Luck Would Have It last summer, I promised myself that I’d go back and read Zoë’s other books when I had the chance. *rolls eyes* Yup, you’ve guessed it, I went off on a tangent again and never got around to it *shrugs*. But Perfect Match’s book birthday gave me the perfect *snorts* excuse to pick the book up! *whispers* Well, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
Sophia’s story was just the tonic I needed this week. It was belly laughs and snort-giggles galore! Along with the odd cringe-worthy scene (I’ll never look at finger dipping bowl the same again *smirks*) thrown in and sprinkled generously with emotion. I mean, let’s be real here for a second, in this day and age, who doesn’t have their own ‘perils of internet dating’ story?
Stop looking at me like that *blushes*. That is a story for another time *clears throat*.
As one can attest, Unrealistic Expectation-itis does indeed exist, and Sophia is a fellow sufferer. Why settle when you want it all, aka Mr Perfect? Am I right, ladies? Hence why I’m still single with three cats *snorts* Side note: I’m sure Sandra and I would be total BFFs (just think of all the Betsy and Nigel talk we could have!).
Here’s the thing though, all that glitters ain’t gold. (Did you sing that last part? Coz I totally did.) Can Soph’s RPatz lookalike-y really be everything she wants and more? (Full disclosure: I’ve never got the RPatz thing *cringes*.)
As I am want to do, I had a few conversations with Sophia along the way in the story. I don’t know why I bother, really. No one ever listens, lol!
Perfect Match isn’t just a story about hoping to find The One. It’s a story about finding yourself as well. Before we can give our heart to someone else, we need to love ourselves first, foibles and all. As the ad says, love your imperfections.
Sheesh, that’s getting a bit deep – eh?
Trust me, Perfect Match is the perfect read to beat the January blues!
I’m not sure if this book should sit at 4.5 or 5 stars since I’m not sure if the previous one had me in enough of a slump that this felt amazing.
Regardless, the themes throughout the book are so positive and speak to experience and learning from mistakes that I loved it. The pacing throughout was consistent, well thought out and gave us a very clear heading when we had quite a jump in the timeline.
It felt like every character in this book had a reason for being there. With the focus of the book being online dating, this tended to revolve around how people meet, how you can get to know someone, how our past shapes our behaviours and so many little things in between.
For those suffering the dating scene of the 21st century I feel like this is something they should read. Love can happen in the most unlikely of places and with the people you least expect. For me, when my step-mum suggested I go on a date with a 30 yr old accountant she works with (I was 21 at the time) my reaction was along the lines of “ewww! I don’t want to date an old, boring accountant!” I ended up meeting him briefly at my dad and step-mum’s housewarming and eight years later we’re going strong!
The main message I felt came through with this story was to give people a chance and take care of yourself first before looking to add someone to that mix. Being happy with yourself is something that’s so important but overlooked so much in our technological age so I’m so happy Zoe was able to include that in such a great way.
A light-hearted romantic read guaranteed to brighten up even the darkest and most dismal of days, Zoe May’s Perfect Match is a fantastic romp readers are simply going to love!
There is absolutely nothing Sophia Jones does not know about online dating. An absolute expert when it comes to picking the right sites, writing the most sparkling of bios and taking the best pictures to attract the right sort of partner, Sophia knows everything there is to know about finding love in the digital age. But there is one thing which Sophia is not so good at: finding Mr Right! She is sick to the back teeth of going on date after date and being subjected to mind-numbing conversations with men who have more in common with frogs than Prince Charming. Sophia is about to throw in the towel and give up her quest to find Mr Right for good, until her best friend convinces her otherwise.
Kate convinces Sophia to give online dating one last chance and to write a profile describing her perfect mate. Sophia is not holding back: she wants her Mr Right to look like a film star and be filthy rich. Sophia thinks that she’s got more chance of flying to the moon than of meeting a guy who ticks all the right boxes, so when a guy comes along matching all her requirements, Sophia is torn between being overjoyed and wondering whether there is a catch and she is in for a massive disappointment!
Has Sophia finally found her Mr Right? Or are some things simply too good to be true?
A wonderfully fun read you will simply power through, Perfect Match is a fun, flirty and feel-good romantic comedy you will simply not be able to put down. Smart, sassy and far too good to miss, Perfect Match has got a terrific heroine you will cheer for, plenty of hi-jinks and lots of love and laughter to keep you gleefully turning the pages!
A fabulous tale rom-com fans are going to love, Perfect Match is a perfect read for fans of Holly Martin and Samantha Tonge!
There is a chapter in this book that had me in stitches, because it reminded me of a similar faux pas I once made, except mine was mistaking a small heated fluffy hand-towel for a dessert. I was crying tears of laughter when I read it.
What May hides really well in this humorous story is the serious question of our expectations vs reality when it comes to relationships and love, and if that wasn't enough the author also takes a subtle pop at online dating. It has become the 21st century approach to meeting a potential mate. It has opened up opportunities, but it also brings certain safety concerns with it. Connecting with other people is now as easy as breathing air thanks to app, smartphones and technology in general.
Sophia has used nearly every website she can think of to find the right man. So far she has only met duds, bores and freaks. Then again she is extremely finicky. No one is handsome enough, rich enough, smart enough and certainly not entertaining enough for her.
In an act of desperation she writes a profile for yet another website with what can only be described as fantastical requests. In return she gets a lot of weird replies, but one of them is different, one of them matches the profile perfectly.
The moral of the story is you should never judge a book by its cover. Nothing could be more true in this case. As is the saying that you don't want something or someone until somebody else has it and it is no longer available to you. Sophia definitely suffers from wanting what she can't have and not wanting what she can have.
Perfect Match is a light-hearted rom-com with a frank take on 21st century dating and our inability to appreciate what we have, and to see what is often right under our noses. May entertains without losing sight of the point she is trying to make, and brings the serious tone when the story requires it.
It isn't often that a scene in a book makes me laugh out loud, so kudos to May for that.
Perfect Match by Zoe May a true five-star read. I am becoming a huge Zoe May fan, there is just a humour to her writing that just has surprises and joy on every page. This one doesn’t disappoint, the characters are so well done that they are real, I didn’t like Sophia all the time, and that just made her more of a rounded character for me. If you are looking for romantic and funny, or you need some commiserations over a terrible dating experience then this is the one for you. Even if you don’t need the dating commiserations then this is for you, it’s funny and honest and a story you need to read.
I'm fast becoming a huge Zoe May fan. There's something warm and inviting about her humorous but realistic story telling. Her romances are modern and relatable and I thoroughly enjoy them.
Sophie is desperate to find a love match. After over 70 dates and various dating apps she is beginning to question why she is the only single person left in her friendship group. As Sophie begins to explore this question she begins to discover some unexpected answers.
I loved the character of Sophie. She's far from perfect and has some major flaws but that is why I loved her. In reality even the nicest of people share some of these traits. We are all human and all guilty at some point of behaving in certain ways -and why shouldn't we sometimes! Sophie is an hilarious character and this book kept me sniggering throughout.
A main focus of this novel goes beyond the romance. It's heavily about our friendships and relationships and how they shape/influence us. Sophie's friends are written to compliment and oppose her really well, balancing out some of her character traits. For me this theme was as strong as the romance.
Zoe May has written another witty and thoroughly modern novel that has pretty much everything I want from a romance story and a lot of unexpected things too. Highly recommended for those who love their romances to have a realistic plot and flawed characters to relate to.

Okay this freaking cracked me up! I was dying while reading this because of all the snark and sarcasm that was coming from our main character Sophia during her quest to find the perfect guy. Of course, knowing that was her goal was something that for me, even I feel that was a huge and almost impossible goal to attain in such a short amount of time, but then she got fun with it.
There were so many quotes throughout this novel that I had to highlight because I died laughing, and I was like “wowwwwwww is America just this boring or is Great Britain just this funny” because some of the insults and comments Sophia would think or say out loud just had me dying. Like I need to get into more British comedy or something, and I love seeing it in romance novels like this because then I get to feel like I’m well traveled or something. Wow that sounded so dumb, but hopefully you know what I mean. I know I felt like I had to look some of the phrases up to make sure I was understanding it correctly, but that is honestly the beauty of reading books that don’t take place in a setting that you’re used to. You get to learn new lingo.
Actually I’m only going to share some with you guys because you’re just going to have to read it to find out yourself, but I was dying okay? I think I said that multiple times already, but that’s how much I thought it was funny, and I honestly just could not get over it. I was laughing while reading this whole thing. Yeah there were times where I felt bad for Sophia or was irritated with her roommate for something, but this book just gave me a good feeling all around and I’m glad I got to read it!
Maybe being sincere gets you nowhere, maybe now it’s time to play the players at their own game, to fuck with the fuck-boys and dick around with the dick pic dudes.
I would say this is one of the few romantic comedy novels that I would not mind rereading every once in a while, coming from someone who does not like to reread books anymore. Who doesn’t have the TIME to reread anymore because she likes to sign up for every blog tour under the sea to support different genres and all that jazz. But I may come back to this one next year and see Sophia’s growth from her horrible, horrible, just terrible first date with noodle guy to her flirtation with RPatz lookalike Daniel, and everything in between and all around.
Roses are red, Violets are blue, Can I stick a finger up your bum hole?
NOT so romantic but hey
I mean WTF right? This was hilarious.
He’s so cool! He travels for work, he calls Robert Pattinson, ‘RPatz’ (which clearly means that he doesn’t take life too seriously), he’s cheeky enough to tease me, and he even added a flirty wink! I bet his penis measures up perfectly.
Oh I’m sure it does, Sophia. I’m sure it does.
This is your typical romantic comedy that has you laughing out loud from the start, think Bridget Jones, and I loved it!
Having heard great things about this novel when the opportunity came up to take part in this celebration I grabbed it. It certainly lived up to expectations, I actually enjoyed it even more than I thought I was going to.
Sophia appears to be a dating disaster, she’s tried all the apps and is ready to give up. One last attempt and she describes her ‘perfect’ man, never expecting to find him. When she does though it’s not all as it seems and maybe there is no such thing as perfect.
I felt like I was watching Sophia’s story right next her I was completely drawn into the book. Zoe’s writing is witty and it has you hooked from the start.
Sophia’s character was great and I warmed to her straight away, she felt like your best friend. The relationships she has with the supporting characters in the book, Kate, Lyn and Tom especially, shows the type of person she is and rounds out the book from just being all about the romance.
If you want a true laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, then this is the book for you!
Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will enjoy.
Perfect Match was entertaining and charming chick-lit that revolved around Sophia and her many attempts to find true and perfect love through online dating. It was about quirks of online dating, dream of perfect love vs the reality, taking time to know a person over a first sight sparks and fireworks, character over look, and beauty of imperfection.
Writing was smooth, engaging and enjoyable. The setting was amazing. After Paris, London is another place in the world I dream to visit. I loved to see London through story and characters’ eye- The Shard, London eye, tubes and stations, market and fancy restaurants all the places were narrated wonderfully. The story was first person narrative written in Sophia’s charming and refreshing voice. Her voice and view point made story even more entertaining. Oh and I laughed at catheters and poo articles Sophia was working on.
Book started with Sophia’s difficulty over finding her perfect match through online dating. She was 28, wannabe writer, desperate to find her ‘The One’ but had a series of bad luck in dating and boyfriends. She tried all dating sites but it all got her hilariously worst dates. When she got tired and hopeless after her date no 71, her roommate and best friend insist to try one last site. She relented and tried different approach, listed the criteria of dream man- multimillionaire, adventurous, Robert Pattinson lookalike and other factor (which were most hilarious). She was sure she was never getting the man with these criteria but when she found Daniel through the site who ticked all of them, she found it unbelievably lucky. She couldn’t help thinking what’s the catch. (Me too! I was sure he can’t be that perfect)
It was so fun to find out if the Daniel was her real perfect match, can he be fitting all criteria and still be genuine, not a con or hiding something. And the biggest question if he was so great and genuine what he was doing on the dating site.
First 30% was humorous, getting to know characters and online dating, Sophia’s life in London, her job and friends. It was entertaining and moved with good pace with curiosity to know more about Daniel. He looked okay by this point. I knew his money and looks are not scam and he was good in most of the aspect. But as story progressed things started to make sense. (about Daniel, of course! I could see what he was doing.)
Sophia was great character. At first I found her too dreamy and too opinionated. She rejected most of her dates based on her first meeting and first impression. But I understood what she really was doing and why. She thought she might know who her true love will be once she met them like her parents or most of her friends but what she really didn’t know was it’s different for everyone.
Her relationship with Daniel looked great at first. Her new life was like landing in fantasy world all magical and sparkly but as time passed and she got deeper in Daniel’s world and was thrust back to reality. At some point I was afraid she might mess it up with her friends and job, being so wrapped up in her bubble that she might even put everyone and everything she loved behind but I’m glad it didn’t turn out that clichéd.
Her friendship with Kate, Tom, Sandra, Lyn and Chris was wonderful. Kate was cynical and practical. I could relate to her more than Sophia. Lyn was fun to read. This old lady was cute and so lively. Sandra’s hamster story gave extra fun treat. Oh and Chris’ food facts were amazing. He was my most fav character. They all played fantastic role in love life of Sophia. I won’t tell more about Daniel or Chris, you better find it out yourself by reading the book.
The arc of online dating and finding perfect match and true love was well presented. The message of taking time in getting to know a person and develop love over the time was wonderfully conveyed. It’s not about love at first sight, the story very much say you cannot get love at first sight (mostly, I mean), the spark and firework you feel in first meeting based on just good look and humor is not long lasting, nobody is perfect, everybody has imperfections and finding perfection in those imperfection is what makes the relationship.
Third half was my most favorite with Sophia’s development, revelation of Daniel’s all too perfect to be good character and his intention behind being on dating site and even dating Sophia was real treat. I couldn’t guess that. The climax was filled with drama and a bit sadness but I loved how Sohia grew by the end of the book. Epilogue was lovely.
Overall, it was fun and lovely romantic comedy with amazing characters and many hilarious and dramatic situations. I definitely recommend this book if you’re into Romcom and Chick-Lit.
