Didn’t read the synopsis for this as the cover intrigued me enough then I found out it’s about a guy and his mother stopping him from getting married and pretty much having any woman in his life which sounded a bit lame and aggravated me so I didn’t read it as it’s not worth it.

There are two things that can ruin a good thriller:
1. A predictable twist
2. A disappointing ending

This book has neither! I'm pretty sure you would have heard me gasp as I was reading it. It's a really fun pacy read. I sat and read it in one sitting - addictive.

Thanks to NetGalley, Sandie Jones and Pan Macmillan for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is perfect for fans of thrillers and suspense. To be honest I probably haven't enjoyed this genre for a while now so not sure why I requested. Its a well written story with characters perfect for the storyline.

I have mixed feelings about this book, but am going to give it an honest and deserving review.
Firstly it isn’t really a thriller - it’s chick lit at best, with the weak and highly annoying Emily and her narcissistic boyfriend Adam, who have a deeply flawed relationship even before they come into contact with Mum Pammie. Pammie seems totally unhinged and she does do some pretty vile things to Emily, whilst being just wonderful to everyone else! To be fair to Pammie, at several points in the book I really felt Emily deserved everything she got for being so annoying! That aside, the shocking twist does redeem it, and that’s why I gave it 4 stars!

Gripping read. One of those page turners that keep you reading until all hours.

Who doesn’t love a novel where our lovable heroine defeats a spiteful mother-in-law and comes out on top? Well, The Other Woman isn’t like that – for a start Emily, the heroine is annoyingly one dimensional and you find yourself rooting for the outrageous Pammie, who pulls out every trick in the book to split her up from Adam, her precious (and also deeply unlikable) son. So if you read the book on that level it is quite entertaining, but honestly Emily and Adam are such a toxic couple you really can’t relate to them.

I’m sure that this book will be a ‘hit’ – it looks the part and I can imagine it selling like hot cakes at airport bookshops. It maintained my attention to the end but I can guarantee that I won’t remember it this time next year.

Many thanks, however, to the author, the publishers and to NetGalley for letting me read and review it.

This book is the reason I got to bed at 4am this morning. I picked it up and literally couldn't bear to put it down until I'd finished it. It had me gripped from start to finish and bot did I not see that ending coming! You HAVE to read this!

Emily meets the man of her dreams, Adam and falls in love. She is then introduced to his family and in particular his mother Pamela. Adam is definately a mummy’s boy and Mummy does not want anyone taking Adam away! Thus follows a battle of wills between Emily and Pamela.
This is a book where you want to reach in and give Emily a shake. There are so many warning signs where you’re thinking he’s not perfect he loves his mother more.
I read this in one sitting as I wanted to know the ending hoping that Emily was going to get a backbone and leave Adam and his mother to each other.

This book was okay. After reading the description I really thought the book would have been better.
In some places the plot was a bit far fetched and totally unbelievable.

Emily falls in love with Adam and ends up with a mother in law from hell.

Emily was a strong character in some places but in others she did things that you think “what are you doing?”

Wow, wasn’t expecting that. Could not put it down, some things were a little implausible but nothing that ruined the story. Spent the whole book shouting in my head at Emily, ‘open your eyes woman!’. Highly recommend.

I absolutely adored this book! For anyone thinking they'll start this one ones the kiddies are down for the night, take my words to heart... you'll not be able to put it down! I blocked out all things that typically interfere with the pace I read at, it is really THAT GOOD! I felt for our main character, felt pangs of resentment for the monster-in-law, and had several "things that make you go hmmm" moments! Would more than love to shake our soon to be groom for his undying belief in his mother and don't even get me started on the brother! For anyone who loves a good, juicy drama/mystery/psychological thriller do yourself a favor and GET THIS BOOK!

mily meets Adam and soon falls in love. Everything is perfect until she meets his mother, Pammie. Pammie gets involved in everything and soon comes between Adam and Emily but no-one else can see this.

Emily is hellbent in finding out the truth about Pammie and revealing it all but Adam will not listen and soon her life is in danger.

I really want to say more but I just can't as I don't want to spoil it but oh jeepers! This didn't have the feel off your standard 'psychological thriller' and by that I mean it flowed like perfect chick lit and then once the scene was set it was dark. I sort of wish i hadn't finished it so I could keep reading it.

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book and I raced through it so quickly . Emily meets Adam and they fall quickly in love and quickly move in together , the only obstacle in the road is Pammie his mother who really seems to have it in for Emily , causing her no end of problems while seemingly all sweetness and light to other people . What a brilliant twist that I did not see coming and without giving away any spoilers I can say that all is not how it seems .
Brilliant !!

This book was sinfully addictive I read it in one sitting. For fans of psychological thrillers this is likely to be a sure fire hit of the summer.

Pammie is a star character. A total star character. The “mother in law” from hell indeed, plus the author twists and turns the narrative really well when it comes to the heart of the story, that of the eternal triangle between Mother, Son and the girl he chooses.

I’ll be honest and say there are moments and actions by the characters in this where your suspension of disbelief will be challenged but then they DO say love is blind – and that can apply to all love not just romantic love – a theme I felt was well explored here. I did occasionally want to slap Emily around the head with a wet fish and yell at her GET OUT GET OUT NOW which of course is the sign of how engaged and involved I was with this rather twisted love story.

Because I read so many psychological thrillers what I look for these days is just one thing that surprises me. Not necessarily a twist or an unexpected ending but just that one thing I don’t see before it arrives. The Other Woman had several of these moments which elevated it plus the final resolution was extremely clever and thought provoking.

The characters are highly compelling from Emily with her often bull headed determination, to Pammie with her subtle and not so subtle interference, to Adam the not so perfect perfect man AND all the rest (I had a particular fondness for Emily’s own mother) they will all get into your head and stick with you after you have finished reading.

Overall really very good! Yes. One to watch later this year if you are a fan of the twisted narrative.

Recommended.

I found The Other Woman to be unexpected, with some good twists and turns, great characters. There were some parts that felt a bit rushed, but overall I really enjoyed reading this book. I read it in one sitting, desperately wanting to know what happens next!
