The story of an unconventional mother and her daughter. Edies’s parenting left a lot to be desired, and I didn’t really, like her as a person, but she had a difficult life and hadn’t really wanted a child at all, which made me feel really sad for Dido, and I felt so much for the yearning to have a normal stable family life. At times the book infuriated me especially when Eddie was being selfish. I thought about giving up several times, but I wanted to see how both Eddie and Dido’s life planned out. An average read, mainly because the story bothered me!!!!
Fabulous from beginning to end. Dido and the people surrounding her are beautifully drawn, particularly her mother, Edie. So many of the memories from the 80s resonated with me.
Read this is you can, and be prepared to laugh and cry.
This book had me from the first page. I loved it. I finished it late last night and have been thinking about it all morning. It is beautifully written. Dido's voice is clear and strong from a child to an adult, and she had me laughing and crying. I thoroughly recommend it. This book will stay with me. Thank you Joanna Nadin.
