Another great read from Gill Sims found myself laughing out loud on buses etc. Gill writes about normal everyday stuff ok something a bit over the top but hey its fun and we all like a good LOL. Definitely recommend.

Hilariously true to life book! Although I'm not quite a mother yet at 39 weeks pregnant the relationship between the couple is relatable! Very funny!
Will have to read the other books in the series as the years go on!

I could have written this book myself had I got a spare few hours per day or if I had eleventymilliom pounds so wouldn't have to work every day, could employ an au pair and a personal trainer to stop me getting a lardy bum !!!!!
I laughed so much at this book I cried and shouted out loud it is fabulous and exactly like me life. Gill captures a whole year of family life in this book, like the ever so important PTA Christmas Fayre /Fair? And all the family moments like where to go on Christmas Day ? Hating sibling until Dads new floozie appears then siblings join together against her and go to mums for Christmas Day, with all rest of family who fortunately you only see once a year
Then there was all the smaller little things picked up on like whose turn it is to cook dinner, getting dinner in ready made easy to cook bags. Meanwhile I slave making a week of meals and put in freezer and everyone eats whilst I am working late, not good
Absolutely delightful, funny, laugh out loud book recommend to any family with at least two children who have normal names!

As a parent to two young children, there is so much about Gill Sims books I can relate to. Why Mummy Swears had me smiling, laughing and looking forward to what the future has in store for me with nothing short of fear!!
If you think you would enjoy an open and honest look at motherhood and the reality of what that is REALLY like sometimes, I would really recommend this.

A f**king accurate portrayal of life as a wife and mother. We disappear into the role assigned to us and reach for the Gin to self medicate- who can blame us. Ellen is all of us at some point- the swearing rants are to die for, as are the toe curling descriptions of home. I loved this book- it raised a smile at a difficult time for me.
Sometimes we can’t have it all, so we have a gin instead!!

An enjoyable easy read with many ‘relatable’ moments. A few LOL moments and even (at 1 point) a few tears. I took a while to read this as I wasn’t ‘gripped’ - can easily be picked up and put down

Very mixed feelings here. Bits I enjoyed bits I yawned over and bits I wondered why they were necessary. A bit overdone fro my liking, but maybe that was the mood I was in. Will reread at a later date

I cannot express how much I loved this book! Just like the previous and a must read for any mummy! very relatable!

This book was so funny to read there were scenes that had me belly laughing loudly. The main character was quiet dramatic at times but that only made some of her rantings even more hilarious. One of my favourite scenes has to be the Christmas dinner at the mothers house (I don't want to give any spoilers away). If you want a book with plenty of laughs and a lot of swearing then you will definitely enjoy this book.

Whilst I completely understand how many, many readers have loved this book I'm afraid I just didn't warm to it. It has echoes of Bridget Jones, and when I first read Bridget Jones I was of a similar age, and at a similar point in my life, and I loved her & the fresh style of the writing. Perhaps it was that this felt a little like tired, worn-out & jaded Bridget Jones with kids & a lame husband! I knew it would be sweary, obviously, but it honestly stopped being funny & just began to seem too much not all that far into the book.
I didn't really warm to Ellen either. Yes, she was struggling with many of the same struggles as me - husband, children, family, home, work - but good grief she did make it hard for herself! And so my sympathy kept edging over into annoyance, so instead of finding humour & empathy I kept finding myself thinking 'for goodness sake, get a grip!'
So. That left me not terribly gripped, and so this wasn't a compelling read for me.
There are some really, really funny bits, and some parts that are so spot on they're really cleverly done, but I'm afraid overall this just wasn't the book for me.

I really enjoyed Why Mummy Drinks and this one too, but it's quite a different book, not as funny, and with some uncomfortable descriptions of family life that I'm afraid are the reality of some households, although I cannot believe that any intelligent man would think that taking a meal his wife had prepared out of the freezer and warming it up counted as "cooking".
The first book was at its best when dealing with the visit of the awful relations and this was missing here. Not sure where she can go next with this idea, but she can be a very funny writer.

Humorous, easy reading! I cant say I was laughing out loud, or rushing to get back to the next chapter, but I do think fondly of this book which is like an ode to all Mums. The main character is a bit annoying and over-the-top, but she also has thoughts and experiences that sound extremely familiar. This book definitely strikes a chord, especially for stay-at-home mums turned full-time-employed mums. The author has a humorous turn of phrase and apt observations from raising children, to interacting with the school mums, to balancing work-life balance. A book that needs to be heard, even though it doesn't take itself that seriously.

I have followed Gill's writing since she posted long captions on Facebook and always found her laugh out loud funny. This book is no different, a hilarious look at parenting, that kept me turning the page. If you love her other stuff you will love this too!

A funny highly relatable read. So many things made we want to laugh out loud, particularly the PTA stuff - I've been there and done that!!
The over use of 'eleventy billionth time' and 'bastarding' did really start to annoy me though - terms I have not heard in common use before, but used over and over again in the book.
Thank you to Netgalley for an early copy in return for a review.

This is the perfect book for relaxing with when you want to guarantee a laugh. Particularly suited to parents, I think this book was even better and funnier than the first one, "Why Mummy Drinks". Definitely recommended reading.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book and only read part way through. It didn't seem very original or funny, there are lots of similar books out there that hit the mark better. Sorry.

A gorgeously written, amusing novel with a few profanities I didn't know! Stressed mum doing her best to keep her cool against all the classic family/school/life put downs. I loved this book.

This isn’t a book I would usually pick up, but the title had me intrigued. I am a mum of two young children and swearing was something I did not give up on becoming a mum. The book starts during the summer holidays, oh how I dread the summer holidays, the struggle is real! Gill Sims totally gets it, I love her writing style and have followed her Facebook page for a while. I will have to go back and read Why mummy drinks because I really enjoyed her honest insight into the the daily struggles of parenting. Any mums or dads out there give this a go you won’t be disappointed

A tongue in cheek resume of everyday situations that I'm sure most working mothers can relate to - at times I laughed out loud although at times the situations went a little too far ( maybe I'm just old )
