This was a biography of an extremely interesting personality made very difficult to read by a constantly changing narration. It is often difficult to tell who is speaking because the narrator can literally change from one panel to the next. There are also WAY too many characters who are introduced, make one statement on one panel and then are never heard from again, which seems incredibly pointless. If the author had just stuck to one or even two or three narrators this would have been a much more enjoyable read.

The life of a real life obnoxious showoff who thought she was a work of art around the turn of the 20th century and managed to find wealthy idiots to indulge her nonsense. Rubbish.

DNF - this is a hagiography of a conceited, vain, and incredibly ugly woman, where every panel, dialogue or not, is exposition. The woman has been cast out of modern art history as a response to the vacuous mistake of ever letting her into it, on this evidence.

Luisa, Marchesa Casati: aesthete, muse, witch and general all-round rock'n'roll animal/performance art piece before either of those was a thing. I'm not entirely sold on Vinci's treatment of her, either artistically (the style seems too soft, not strange enough, to capture the sheer otherness of Casati and the early 20th century art world through which she moved) or structurally. This is the sort of biography in which characters are shown in their settings, but we are seldom shown them as they lived or spoke - instead they discourse on their lives and even their deaths. And that sort of telling not showing can't help but feel a bit on the educational side, a bit dramatic reconstruction. Still, the ridiculous excess and glamour of Casati herself are enough to make any art about her interesting, attempts to grasp the ungraspable though they may be.

I did not finish. I found it hard to read as the text was very small and I was unable to adjust it due the restrictions of downloading.

I loved this. Sadly it is not available in hard copy via any whole sale distribution to Australia so I cannot order for store. I would hand sell the hell out of this!

I love the intense style of this graphic novel. It really portrays the main character.
