I have loved every Tracy Bloom book I’ve picked up and this one was no exception!
Jenny’s world is shook, just a day after her birthday she finds out she has terminal cancer. Hours later she walks in on her husband having some extra marital fun. Spurred on by her friend Maureen and a visit to a strangers funeral she decides to keep her cancer a secret and throw herself a wake. The theme of the wake is 1996, one of the best years of her life.
When I first read the description, I thought it was such a morbid subject, but reading it has given me a new perspective! You really don’t know the minute your world could change forever.
I really enjoyed the book, I loved Jenny’s idea to throw a wake for herself. I laughed and cried. Jenny was so strong, finding out she was dying and then trying to hold her marriage and her family together all whilst everyone else was unaware of her illness. Fab read and I would deffo recommend it!!
Great feel good book even though the theme could come across as a bit morbid. I read it in one day!
