This book tells the story of the Stewart women and follows three generations from Grandma to Granddaughter. I liked how the characters learnt from their past and evolved throughout the book growing closer to one another. I liked the setting and the story. And four women's story rather than one, which maybe diluted the emotional intensity for me but Sarah Morgan is such a brilliant storyteller and it was nice to read something a little bit different from her. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.

This is a story about 3 strong women and the hidden strength they have. Its a bout family, secrets and forgiveness. Hope for a future even though life throws some devastating curveballs. A great summer read.

This novel tells the story of one family who are very cold to each other and they are scattered in USA and London,
It tells the story from each of the women's life Nancy the mother and grandmother very cool showing no pleasure in being a family especially after her husband dies and the girls Lauren and Jemma adored him, so each goes back to their own lives until tragedy strikes again
This time it is Lauren's husband who dies and in doing so it is revealed what a mess he has left for his wife to sort out
The two women have more in common than they know and it is only after Eds death that the three women sit down and talk and all the twisted tales come out
This is a lovely book for reading on holiday with your toes wriggling in the sand

I found this to be a fascinating story about relationships between three women (two sisters and their mother), and secrets they have kept.
The characters are interesting and well drawn, and you become absorbed in the story and how it develops. Told from various perspectives, gives interesting insight into families and how secrets can change relationships. The book explores the relationships between two sisters (Lauren and Jenna), and their mother who had always seemed stand-offish when they were young. Also the emnity that Mack (Lauren’s teenage daughter) feels towards her mother.
When a crisis happens, the characters are brought together and each person realises that others had secrets which unfold throughout the story.
Each chapter is narrated by various leading characters, which I found enlightening, and made the characters appear more rounded. However, I didn’t like how each chapter begins with a word (the theme of each chapter), along with its definition, and found it slightly patronising that meaning of each word needed to be explained.
Although readable, the book lacks pace and there are few surprises, and I felt that one of the family’s stories was unfinished. Possibly the author has plans to write another book about the family.
An entertaining read with characters you would enjoy having as good friends.

Sisters Lauren and Jenna were born on Martha’s Vineyard an idyllic Island near to New York. During the summer it is over run with holiday makers but come labour day the island is left to the full time residents to get on with their lives. The girls family have lived in The Captains House for many generations. Lauren was the wilder of the sisters, although Nancy, their mother thinks Jenna was. The girls have kept a secret since their childhood. Lauren finds herself pregnant and leaves the island, Jenna marries a local man and teaches in the local school. Life then takes a different turn and Lauren returns to the island. I loved this book, the characters came alive and kept me interested until the very last page.

I found How to Keep a Secret a very enjoyable book.

It focuses on Lauren and her daughter Mack, Lauren’s sister Jenna ana their mother Nancy. Three generations of women brought together by a crisis. It’s set during a summer on Martha’s Vineyard and is a tale of love, warmth, relationships and secrets.

I found all the characters to be likeable and the story flowed well. A throughly enjoyable read that I can highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance to review.

A story about 3 generations of a family and how they interact with each other. Very well written with very rounded characters who were totally believable. The setting of the story in Martha's Vineyard was also well researched and brought the place alive for the reader. The plot was enjoyable but it was the characters in the story that makes this book special.

A pleasant enough read, but rather predictable. I found the author's style rather verbose and repetitive..

So many secrets that I lost count but they are all (??) revealed eventually by the end of a summer on Martha's Vineyard. This is a story of strong women coping with life but not always giving enough time to promoting their own happiness. Many characters influence the outcomes, some of them alive and some of them dead. changes to the nature of marriage, especially the woman's role and expectations are also highlighted. An enjoyable read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it makes a great summer read. The book is written from the perspective of the female members of one family and due to their pasts are disconnected and fractured. The book deals with reconciliation plus a fair sprinkling of love and romance. The book was easy to read and the descriptions of Martha's Vineyard made me want to visit the place at some point, but maybe, out of season. The plots were a little predictable but for a light summery read, the characters were all slightly exasperating at points but the observations of family life were pretty spot on. A book to pack in your hand luggage and take on holiday.

Great book, summer reading at its best, great page turner, loved how it flitted from one character to another whilst pulling the story together. I read it in a day

Somewhat different from the previous Sarah Morgan books that I have read, I nevertheless enjoyed reading this story of a complex family.
Nancy, Jenna, Lauren and her daughter Mack, all have issues and all have secrets. These gradually emerge as the story continues.
I found that although I enjoyed the story,, I had to keep reminding myself of who was who and what their place in the story was.
Thanks to Net Galley for a review copy.

When Lauren’s husband dies suddenly and she’s forced to move from London back to Martha’s Vineyard it’s not only her secret that she takes with her. She’s accompanied by her daughter, Mack, who’s bringing along a secret all of her own.

Brought up in the isolated holiday community of The Vineyard we are quickly immersed not only in her new life, living back with her mother, Nancy, but that of her sister.

Jenna has a secret all of her own too, one that threatens her marriage, one that threatens everything.

Sarah Morgan has long been a favourite author, ever since her early days writing medical romance for Mills and Boon (Harlequin) . But with this, her latest, there’s a change in both storyline, writing content and style. There’s a previous unforeseen depth to her writing that shifts her up a gear and with How to Keep a Secret she’s created something very different – a powerful testament to the threads woven between sisters, mothers and children; a three-dimential work with a crowd of secondary characters to add both light and dark textures to her work.

In a way I have to say I think she’s brave – there’s bound to be readers out there that will feel they’ve bought into something only to find it’s not what they expected. But, as with all things in life, as we grow older we develop and mature. What you get from an eighteen-year-old writer is going to be very different to what you get from someone in their middle year’s. This is a divergence, a change but in this case not an unhappy one. I look forward to her next offering…

I really enjoyed how to keep a secret, this book is about the Stewart family and their trials and tribulations. Just as you get over one thing happening, something else is just round the corner! I enjoyed seeing how the ladies reacted to these issues and how they all came together in the end. The main characters are all very likeable and relatable no matter your age. A book to be enjoyed by all!

This book centres around the lives of four women - Nancy, her daughters Lauren and Jenna and Mack (Nancy's grand daughter, Lauren's daughter). As the book opens Lauren is preparing for her husband Ed's 40th birthday party. He seems distracted and storms out of the house and it is the last that any of them will see of him. Mack is portrayed as.a typical moody 16 year old trying to deal with her own issues.

Nancy still lives in the house she inherited from her family (in Martha's Vineyard) but she has things that she is dealing with. Even though her husband Tom died 5 years ago, she is still haunted by him as she hasn't thrown any of his possessions away. But there is more to this as well.

Jenna is married to Greg and appears to be living a great life. She's a primary school teacher and loves her job and the kids she teaches although she does have moments when she finds it difficult as she is struggling to become pregnant and she desperately wants a baby.

Necessity dictates that Lauren and Mack move back to the Vineyard. Mack struggles at her new school and Lauren is struggling to support Mack, her Mum, sister and what life has thrown at her.

A great read.

This book could have been so much better. I was really enthused by the section ofLauren in London, and her daughter was a very believable teenager. The section on Jenna's childlessness seemed overly long and Nancy their mother was well drawn.
When Lauen's original lover appeared he seemed like something from a Barbara Cartland book - ice blue eyes etc.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable story from start to finish which I read in two sittings. I was kept entertained throughout as their was plenty going on.

I loved how the story was told from the perspective of more than one character as it lets you really get to know them inside out.

I thought the story was very well written and all of the characters were well developed and loved seeing the close bond between the two sisters. I also fell in love with the dog Captain, as he sounded adorable.

So last words, Sarah has done it again, another amazing delightful and heartfelt story that I just fell in love with and completely got lost in.

What a fantastic story teller Sarah Morgan is. Once I started reading this book I couldn't stop, I loved the characters especially Mack the stroppy teenager. It's a beautifully written story about a mother, Nancy and her two daughters Lauren and Jenna plus her granddaughter Mack. The family home at Martha's Vineyard has been loved and cared for through the generations and it's where Nancy still lives. Lauren moved to England when she married Ed but circumstances change and Lauren finds herself back at the family home with her daughter Mack. Jenna and Lauren rekindle the closeness they once shared and when Nancy reveals why she always seemed uncaring during their childhood the three women become a strong team. Sarah Morgan paints beautiful pictures with her words and Martha's Vineyard seemed to come alive. I think this is my favourite book this year and I can't wait for the next one.
