This was a really interesting and enjoyable read. I have since recommended it to my partner who only reads nonfiction so i'm sure he'll enjoy it just as much.

This is such an interesting read. I'm a Kent person so I know some of the area and the Roman Road, in particular the market from years ago. I have often heard how popular eel, pie and mash is so this book was a curiosity read.
I enjoyed reading about the history of the old East End of London to the new, and the origins of pie and mash itself. Had me hooked from the first few pages and can recommend.

Being from the East End of London, I grew up with pie mash and liquor. This book bought a lot of memories flooding back.

The whole history of how pie and mash shop started and has been run by the Kelly family for generations.

The East End has changed and not always for the better but a true cockney will always remember pie and mash.

It was so nice finding out about the history of the pies and the family that ran it.

Plus hearing what people thought and the people who have been going to the same shop for a very long time.

This book is a must. It made me feel like I was back in the east end and shopping down the Roman Road.

A brilliant book which covers a lot of history and especially the pie and mash of the East End.

I wish I could give it more than 5 stars it deserves it.
