Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
Cass Wheeler, a successful singer/songwriter whose heydey was in the sixties and seventies looks back on her life as she chooses music for a new and more personal greatest hits album as she prepares to release new music for the first time since her life fell apart. As she chooses each song we follow her life from birth to present day through her fraught relationship with her mother, a passionate love affair with a kindred spirit and her own experience as a mother.
Some stories don't really have a massive amount actually happen in them, and what does happen is fully signposted from the very beginning. This is a story like that and is absolutely fantastic. This book is about the journey, not the destination. The author gives an account of a flawed but ultimately quite likeable woman that is packed with emotion that despite me knowing exactly where it was headed kept me gripped from start to finish. I loved this authors' first novel and did wonder if she could follow it up (the difficult second novel is always worry) but she's done more than that - this is even better.
